Am a guy from Southeast Asia country and have been traveling to many countries in Europe, America, Africa and all Asia. After all my travelling mostly for works assigned by my company. I can say China is the best. Very safe, convenient with very good public transportations, very clean everywhere, very organized, people are friendly, very civilized people foods are so delicious and pretty of choices. This is one country that I never think of not going again. For safety, we just look at her on her this video. She a young beautiful American white lady who can even go out of the city to countryside rural places alone without fear of her safe. This has proven how safe China is. Unlike many western mainstream media lies and fake reports about how bad China is.
One interesting aspect of Katherine's videos is that she shows mostly everyday life in the Chinese countryside, in villages, which is what I am interested in. I have been following her videos for years. Besides being an adorable, kind person, the that fact she is fluent in Mandarim is a big plus.
I started watching and liking your videos before I went to China, but now watching them after having visited the country they're a lot more special because I can relate to them in a different way. Your humor and authenticity just walking around and experiencing different places is wonderful!
you are special, these villages most Chinese wouldn't have heard of and wouldn't visit in their life....of course, you are the "rare" species there, people showed enough interest :) It does let world know how village people live in China, for that this has so much value.
她的視頻大都是一些農村的日常 , 但她都能在平凡中發現它的閃亮點 , 這就是她的視頻之所以引人入勝 百看不厭之處 。 Most of her videos are about daily life in rural areas , but she can find the shining point in the ordinary. This is why her videos are fascinating and you can never tire of them .
Thanks for showing us this part of rural China and its culture. Villagers living in peace and enjoying life. The world would be that much better living in harmony.
It looks a bit creepy to me. It's a bit similar to one of those ancient Chinese tomb thingies. Like I would imagine it carrying a paper made "bride" during a funeral to the tomb for some young guy recently passed away, and the paper bride would be burned along with the paper money paper iPhone and paper TV for the afterlife of the deceased.
Traditional culture is so fascinating and diverse, it is absolutely a fresh air in the boring, standardized, glass, concrete urban jungle and fast food, Walmart like megastores, it will be too sad if the whole world becomes same, and westernized.
I felt the same. Many place you go in America is the same set up big corp and franchise, other than that one special poi, you visit one you visit all, except those small towns with unique shops, houses, bridges, nature etc.
I am on the same page as you. Also it is important to reserve the diversity of the mind sets and philosophy different countries have. It will be not only boring, but very sad and extremely dangerous if the whole world is westernised, or Anglo-Sxsonized.
Very beautiful rural village! I like the murals which are so colourful like the surrounding nature! Just awesome. The locals are so nice and friendly. Thank you Katherine for this fantastic video and take care ⭐️ 💕 🎄
That rickshaw driver grandpa is so stylish and cool haha. I wouldn’t be able to resist riding on it either. Love your attention to detail every time - the decorations on the gravestones are indeed so cool.
13:07 The guy at the end just said don't rage un-neccessary wars, human lives are precious. He was just calling out the US government which we all know behind.
What a cute little house on wheels! Your videos are always fascinating, sharing so much about culture, arts, landscapes, and tranquility. You are truly ambassadors for those unable to travel.
Greetings from Florida. How nice to wake up Saturday morning and find two new videos. One from Katherine and one from Kino Yves in Africa. Got my coffee and watched. Great way to start the day. I am praying for both of you. Always.
Hi Catherine and also the followers of Catherine’s video. The two soldiers shown on picture of the door are 門神(the guardians at the door). They were generals in ancient Chinese history - Tang dynasty. Usually in China the guardians at door paintings refer to 秦叔寶、尉遲恭.
The music played for that funeral called '秦腔',that is one of oldest operas mainly loved by the people who live in middle region of Shaanxi province. that's a sound comes from my hometown . i miss my hometown so much!
My wife and I just began watching your videos. Love the sense of humour and amazing that you are fluent in Mandarin. It’s great that you show that Chinese people are real people and different than what is portrayed in Western media. Sometimes I do wonder about the reference to Grandpa‘s or uncles and aunts and wondering if this is a translation or if people are just called by that based on their age in any case it really makes people seem like they are all connected in one big family. I love that concept. People just being people other words. 2:32 also love the sense of humor.
They call them by the age, mostly they aren't really related, it is just a polite way to address someone as through if they are family to feel close. Be careful addressing auntie whose age aren't really there yet, is safer to address them like big sister or pretty girl instead of auntie because auntie made them feel old. 😆😂 They address men brother or big brother if older just to be polite.
Thanks for taking us through these remote villages. It is like going into a time machine to experience rural China. China is so modern and technologically advanced today that it is rare to have this type of virtual experience. Keep up the good work. That motor bike carriage is one of a kind indeed.
You certainly make the countryside of China a colorful place to visit! i've visited Xian several times before, but never as cutely as you present it 🤩😘😗
Love your vlog! Love the views, love the people, and your editing, and sure your sense of humor. Different than other vlogers, your non-mainstream coverages and insights make this 55 years old Chinese American who lives in New England really wants to travel again! Thank you
Hi Kathrine, I’ve been following your channel for quite a while, and today I finally decided to leave you a comment. I absolutely love the vibe of your channel! It captures parts of China that often slip past mainstream attention but hold so much beauty and significance. As a Chinese city guy, your videos have shown me so many things that I might have seen before but never truly appreciated. Big thumbs up, and thank you for sharing your adventures (or wanders haha 🤣)
@ Can’t wait to see more of those cute little things! 🐥🐕(speaking of which this reminds me of another video where the guy at his stand tried to sell you some “da ji jis” probably assuming you wouldn’t know what it means….That was so hilarious 😆 )
I am new here and really enjoyed your video. Thank you. I live in rural Australia and we don't have anything as beautiful as those murals painted on the houses here. ♥
Loved it! You know I quite like seeing some of the gravestones too but Huan will not let me take photos of them. I did try to explain that some people actually do 'gravestone rubbing' but I think that was not something that could easily be explained, at least not the reasons behind it. His little car was great. I often wonder why nobody takes a modern SUV or MPV with the sliding doors on two sides and modifies it to look like an old style wedding carriage. That was one of my way out business ideas when we first moved down here! Glad you let me see why the oil drum was making a noise too!
Earlier door gods are 神荼郁垒。 秦琼尉迟恭got popular after the Tang Dynasty. The story of 李世民 getting bothered by the ghosts was written in Journey to the West. The author must have heard the story from folklores at his time.
Kath, another great & educational video on parts of rural China which is well off the beaten path and would have remain unknown to just about everybody, including Chinese people in China outside of these counties. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers & all the best! P/S: If I am not mistaken, the reason you like figurines of chickens is due to you being born under the Chinese zodiac Chicken year😁
@@kats_journey_east Oops! Cockerel is the better word than "chicken" and they can be easily identified because, though their attire might be simplistic, they pay particular attention to their hair and your hair is more carefree style 😁 So, you were born in the year of the Pig! Ah yes, that explains why you interact so well with people 👍😁 In Chinese astrology, those born in the year of the Pig is cool-headed and capable in any situation, detailed-oriented, intelligent, free-spirited, and a little too generous. They’re passionate and enthusiastic, well-liked by friends who’ll be there for them unconditionally because they are there for them. And they really love their food. They are usually calm and cheerful, with the ability to speak and act with tact, and possess an unusual innocence and optimism, making them appear angelic and almost childlike, leading others to show their true selves. They’re very popular for their easygoing ways, unexpectedly sharp intellect, and kind and loving forgiveness of others. When they find a purpose, they can apply this same enthusiasm toward achieving their goal with single-minded perseverance. Pigs have a beautiful personality and are blessed with good fortune in life. Socially, Pigs are renowned for their generosity, even though they’re excellent with their money and a common symbol of wealth. If they’re cheated owing to their trusting and kind-hearted nature, Pigs may grow jaded and begin to suspect everything in life. Pigs can often become slovenly and lazy, with the propensity to overeat as a comfort to their world-weary souls. This may cap their real-world accomplishments and lead them to shut down emotionally and become grasping. 2025 is a year of hard work and cautious decision-making for Pigs.
