Come on. Depending on the tool. Milwakee is very good, but tend to be heavy. Dewalt wins over Makita, in many test for drills. Festool is better in many ways. Bosch is superb tool, and the plunge saw is as good as Festool. Festool has the best mitre saw, but the drill I would not buy. Mostly it comes down to taste, just like I like Volvo cars, and you might like Ford.
@@lnesland I would like to agree with the taste thing you put, however from personal experience I have had a few dewalts burn out on me and Makita have lasted the longest I still go through a drill every year or two but I find Makita last better. I can't speak for millawaki or Hitachi but have heard good things. I suppose these videos don't matter to those of us who have a collection as once you are invested in a platform it's hard to move.
Looks like the makita always had the preused drillbits and that the milwaukee and hitachi had some advantage on this test - or did you give all 3 machine fresh new drillbits for their tests?
Hello, I have a few questions regarding the Makita DH481rtj. Shall I buy it now or wait for a newer model? Do you know when Makita updates their tools? Also, would you recommend the new (latest) Bosch combi drill or Makita DHP481rtj? Thanks.
That makita drill is simply a beast it's also the one I'm buying as I have other makita products so it would be silly to change brands . great video guys good test. Thanks
this is a joke.if I take hitachi 18V dbl2 wich is really same like the other 2 it beat the other 2 easily.here they use hitachi with 67nm so this one performance is better with half the torgue
Makita always look superior....wow i have seen many videos and makita kill them all including the straight drilling makita goes through smooth and no crooked...i am very impress...makita supremacy damn too good like no other
That Makita is 115Nm not 125 that is lock torque not hard torque. They are playing games. The Milwaukee has a higher torque than the Makita that isn't disputed even by Makita
The Milwaukee has been tested to have quite a bit less torque than its rating, and they have a reputation in the tool industry for fudging numbers. This is one of the reasons why Dewalt now gives their rating in UWO. Dewalt did call out Milwaukee for this years ago, they had quite a few ads, at least in the U.S about it, but I think they got a poor reaction from it and just seemed like sore losers. Don't get me wrong, I'm a plumber, and use Milwaukee because they have by far the best line up of cordless tools for plumbers, but all the numbers they quote you have to take with a grain of salt.
All the torque numbers are open to dispute. It is time we had a proper standard test. That should be the next test for me. I have tested Milwaukee against Makita and the Milwaukee drives a bigger bit through timber. That is the only thing that matters.
It's a jungle out there with torque. What matters most is soft torque. Take 3 very different drills such as Milwaukee BLDD, DeWalt DCD790 and Bosch PSR 18 LI-2 Ergonomic. They all have the same drilling capabilities (at least on paper) despite very different claims in torque. If only looking at torque you'd expect the Bosch - which is even a con/prosumer tool rather than a full blown pro tool - should by far be the weakest. In the real world the Bosch is no weakling. If anything it actually feels stronger than the Milwaukee - at least in 2nd gear where is doesn't stall as easily and is more willing to start with high load without quickly stalling. The DeWalt I haven't played much with but it didn't seem to stand out one way or the other amongt those 3. Two of them states both hard and soft torque while Milwaukee only states one - that must be the hard torque. If anything I'd believe DeWalt is using UWO (it seems in not in Europe) is to confuse the end user. Just look around how much fuzz there is with their 20v Max vs. the 18v of other tools. It's misleading to advertise it as 20v in fact I wonder why they didn't go the full way and claimed it 21v as that's the voltage of the charger. The nominal value however is like everybody else's 18v. Also look at DeWalts claims for energy storage in the US. They claim the 5Ah "20v Max" has an energy storage of 100 Wh. That is even more misleading than "20v Max" as to get the correct Wh rating you'd have to multiply by the nominal voltage - not the max not the minimum. Everybody else is correctly stating their 5Ah 18v packs are 90 Wh. That's why I don't gives a rats arse for their UWO rating. Instead they should list the capability by soft torque measured in a standardized way. Hard torque is a bit like PMPO rating on cheap computer speakers - just about useless information and extremely little significance in the real world.
Makita dhp 481 has 1090 inch pounds of torque that equates to 123.15 NM just short of 125Nm... That's why in first gear it's smashed all the other heavy duty 18v flagship combi drills watch tool pig.. Metabo sb18 BLI seemed to be on par after a retest..

unfair concrete test for the makita imo.makita beats everything hands down dewalt for example are shit and fall to bits some of my friends in the trade have lots of chuck failures with them.
Has anyone actually asked and received a response from Makita as to what the terms Lock torque, Hard torque and Soft torque mean? I have ask and have not received a useful reply.

+dominic van lievenoogen Hi Dominic, Thank you for watching & the feedback, We will shoot another video with the Makita drill and a fresh drill bit as soon as we can. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out on that video, Thanks Mitch
+Maxim Gheorghe Hi Maxim, That's the question, we asked as well because the stats show the Milwaukee has more power and I'm a big Milwaukee Fan but the results show that Makita was the winner overall. Thanks Mitch
Mitch, that's why i just bought Makita 481 and not ''Team Red's Beast''. Are you able to make a test to the new Hitachi brushless 136Nm tool against the old Makita?
I like how you used a worn drill bit on the makita, and it still was faster than the hitachi, I'm giving you a thumbs down for not using a new drill bit. I bet it would have scored higher if you had used a brand new masonry bit.
I have lots of makita cordless tools and lot of problems with them. one drill burned after 6 months trying to drill with 3/4 Bosch drill bit. battery died sooner then 1 year, etc.
Hi Mate, are they all brushless tools or the older brushed ones? What sort of problems have you had with tools? By the way my Favourite tools are actually Milwaukee and I was blown away by the result as I thought Milwaukee would walk all over it, so I don't think any part of our test was fake, Thanks
Prime Industrial Products I'll make my own test . I just bought the millwaukee m18 fuel kit and I'll make a test vs makita best drill they have. my brother-in-law has the drill. I'll let you know after my test. We have electronic issues and one motor got burned on my Hammer drill, not brushless.Used only couple times. Batteries life are not great.
We would love to see your test results to see how they compare with ours. The Brushed Makita is an unknown quantity to us as we haven't used them, the only problem with Makita brushed range is they have 4 or 5 options, some from the DIY level to a professional level, which may have been the reason it couldn't handle the 3/4"drill bit. You will always get longer battery life out of a brushless drill from any brand as they have less energy loss to heat and friction due to having no contact brushes.
Low price brand? Here in Italy, Milwaukee powertools cost the double price compared to Makita powertools I have a Milwaukee M12 drill and I can say there's no any 12V drill can compete with this amazing Milwaukee. But I have to say that the last relaese of Makita18V it's simply amazing, I bought a combo kit with rotary hammer, grinder and 2 5mA batteries and about the power and quality constructions they are simply amazing... for the same Milwaukee powertools I was supposed to pay double...
I guarantee that the Makita would be the only drill still going after 3 years of daily professional hard use.
Not so shure. Milwaukee and Hittachi are extremely high quality tools.
@@aleksandarvujanic7914 they don’t compare with Makita in quality’. They might have better number on paper but not in real world use

why did you switch the test order for concrete?

But what about durability? How much abuse each drill can take? How far can it fall without breaking? Etc
+F22_Pilot It's a fair point, and I love the idea but we have to keep the tools in good condition for our suppliers, Thanks Mitch
Yeah, I get ya on that. You should see if anyone would be willing to help sponsor an abuse test. There are less than a handful of abuse test videos.
what about the Dewalt Brushless?
I cant believe you used the same drill bit on the makita. blows my mind

Makita and Dewalt make the best power tools
Makita is the best out of all, I'd say Hitachi comes second as that is not the most powerful drill, but it can never beat a Makita!
