    The Makita XPH07 is one of the most powerful cordless drills on the market today.....delivering over 1,090 in-lbs of torque! This version is the hammer drill/driver....which does everything that a normal drill can do, and also can drill holes deep into concrete with ease.
    There are 2 different models covering the XPH07 :
    - XPH07Z (Bare tool, no batteries or charger)
    - XPH07M (Drill, 2 batteries - 4.0AH, charger, and tool case)
    If you are not in the USA, this review is going to cover model # DHP481Z / DHP481M (Same drill, different part #s).
    In this review I will go over the different features of the drill, and then we are going to check out the run times drilling through various materials & will see how it performs when put up against wood, concrete, and solid steel.

    I've had this drill for 2 years now. I'm a residential electrical contractor and this drill has laughed at everything I've thrown it's way. Whether it's a 1" auger, 2" self feed bit or a 4 plus inch holesaw, I know it'll handle it. I bought this drill to replace my corded hole shooters and hole hawgs and it's worked flawlessly for me every day since.

      I agree, everything I ask of this tool, it just laughs and goes, and goes, and goes!

    Based on all the reviews, I just bought one of these and BEAST is right, that second grip is most definitely required, this thing has more torque than my first car!

      @@Kayvoyager I have a Makita worm drive that I used for 20 years, no problems. The only thing is the rubber cord is cracking where it attaches to the saw, but after 20 years ... no issues. I have a full line-up of Makita cordless tools, including this hammer drill driver. Makita is by far superior to other brands, they have been around for over 100 years, and they have stayed true to themselves. They are the only "mainstream" manufacturer that can claim that. They lead in innovation!! First to come out with the brush less motor, work light, belt clip, lithium-ion battery, etc...

    Excellent review! New sub here! Wow 5 years later and 250 Tools now take this great battery. I have sold and used tools hard for almost 30 yrs. Bosch, AEG, Fein,Panasonic,Black and Smacker /Dewalt, Porter Cable and Delta. I switched to Makita over 10 yrs ago and still use these tools and keep adding more! How many companies can say they are still using the same system over 10 yrs later? MAKITA . I sold more Panasonic 15.6 volts back in the day than you could fill a ship with. No Longer the leader they once were the torch was handed to Makita in cordless When they finally went lithium. Here is a non pro tip for you. When Lithuim first came out Dewalt and Milwaukee had nightmares burning up solder joints and charging problems. It Took Dewalt 4 revisions and relaunches of batteries to get it fixed. Makita and Bosch never did. Makita co-enginerded their system with Sony Enginerds! Makita batteries are some of the longest lasting because of the quality of Samsung cells they use and the way they blow cool air THRU the battery when charging. A few others companies have learned some of these things but most still haven't. Milwaukee is doing much better with their impacters these days, but I'm set with my Makitas and 250 tools to run with the LXT 18 v battery!

    Look, I have used Milwaukee for 20 years to install plumbing in residential and commercial buildings. Evolution : Hole Hawg, Super Hawg, Fuel 18 Volt for 2" self feed bits and large hole saws. We are proud of our Milwaukee cordless, but this Makita is what I really need. It's on a different level. More capable of drilling self feed bits, better chuck, longer life and runtime. I'm going green soon.

    Hey man, im a fan of your channel, thanks for your effort on putting these helpful videos on this sharing video site.
    I hope you dont mind if i ask about the wobble on 18v makita drills, the more precise chuck that ive personally tested out is on this particular model the XPH07, so i wonder if that´'s just how it is or it might be a makita issue, i own a couple of 18v makita drills but i'd like your opinion, it´s always good to hear some words from someone who knows what they are talking about

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  4 года назад

      Well, typically will a higher price tag, you’ll see a better build quality. The XPH07 being a premium drill, it should have tighter tolerances than a $79 special. That being said, most people don’t need ultra precision when it comes to handheld tools. I’d suggest looking a FEIN.....they make some of the best quality cordless tools on the market (for overall build quality). Also Hilti makes excellent products, but you’ll pay for it. 💰 glad that you enjoy the vids! Thanks!

      I know mine came with the 4AH battery's, But I do have 5AH battery's as well. The one thing I noticed with Makita, is the 3AH, 4AH, and 5AH battery's are all the same size.

    I get 50% more holes per charge than you got in your test. Because I've got a 6AH battery....like a big boy.

    too high RPM for the big steel drill bit

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 лет назад +1

      +Spaeckli As exciting as it is to watch someone drill a hole at 100 rpms, I chose to go a bit faster in the interest of all who watched this video. I agree that slower is better.....however, most people who dont know better would try and blast through 1/2" plate on speed 2 with no lubrication.

    i just got this drill yesterday
    i orderd from usa but it should be the same as dhp481 in earupe
    i have some problems with it
    i didnt drill just push on trigger to see how it works
    done it 5 min +- the back of it got littel warm
    the chuck open and close by himself
    and the worst problem the full battery draind 2 of 4 strips in 5-10 min and with no drilling just pushed the trigger to hear the sound and watch how the chuck turns
    i have dtd154 impact driver
    never got heated and the battery last lonnnng
    is my drill has defect or it just eating battery naturally ?

      efb Oh definitely.....no way would I try drilling into something other than a pilot hole without the handle on this drill.

    Hello! Can someone teach me how to remove chuck from xhp07? Do I need special wrench to block axle from inside or has some trick?
    ...Putting wrench inside chuck and hitting with hammer is not helpful for this model( I didn't forget unscrewing it firstly).

    Hi Thanks for this video. I couln't find another video that demonstrated all different materials on this drill so well. I contacted Makita today on advice to update my dhp456 and was told to consider this. But it's an over 6 year old model. Also as a newbie, I would like to know a bit more detail about what settings to use on what. eg: should I use high speed on hammer or low speed etc. Do you need more torque for hard material or less toque. How do you get more torque and less torque. Thanks for any advice.

      You typically need more torque for larger or deeper holes in wood or concrete. As far as metal, not so much, since it is the bit that is cutting through the material and there isn’t much friction that causes the drill to slow down. Quality bits (and sharp!) are needed for wood/metal. Masonry needs a good quality “hammer drill rated” bit - not the cheapest you can buy. I do like this drill for heavy duty jobs, but for everyday use with screws or small holes, it is way too bulky. If that’s what you are using it for, go with a sub-compact model.

      Real Tool Reviews Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have a Makita dhp456 and probably not using it with the right settings. It’s got one 16 position wheel and one for hammer , screw. Drill. Do all three settings have torque applied or only screw and hammer? There are also two main settings at the top of the drill (1 and 2). All of these settings have to some extent confused me as to how to get a job done easily . I know hammer is for Mortar and bricks. I will try various settings and see what works. Thanks so much.
