    My dad worked at Acme Ruler. Their cribbage boards made out of maple where gang drilled all at once. It was the wildest drill press I ever saw.

    I am also interested in that clamping jig on the end of your cnc. I have the Laguna IQ and would be interested in seeing a video using the jig for dovetailing or box joints

    If you hover your cursor over the toolpath you've just made and named, it'll tell you the exact depth the bit is going into the wood.
    Instead of hovering the cursor over the image you've just created, and looking at the approximate z depth.

    I was wondering where you got the 3/16" drill bit for your cnc

      Wally's Toolshed I purchased my 3/16" bit from ToolsToday. It is Amana Tool 204047 Carbide Tipped Brad Point Boring Bit R/H 3/16 D x 70mm Long x 10mm SHK. Because the shaft is a 10mm shaft and I don't have a 10mm collet I bought an adapter to allow me to use the bit in my 1/4" collet. Adapter is Amana Tool 47636 1/4 Inch Shank x 10mm Inner Dia. Dowel Drill/Boring Bit Adapter for CNC Standard Collet/Tool Holder. Hope this work for you.

    Why can’t the drill bit speed be set by the code? Also, why not turn on/off the vacuum with the Goode? Thanks for sharing.

      On the Laguna IQ the feed and speed are set through the gcode as input in the Vectric software. As currently designed, the spindle speed is set manually via the VFD, and the dust collector is a different power source.

    How deep should i drill if using tapered 3/16 pegs

      That is really dependent on what you want. The 3/16" pegs I use are not tapered and the fireman that I make them for want them to go to the hilt. So, I drill the holes .95" deep, I could see this changing with different styles of plus. I recommend having your pegs ready and then making a couple trial drill depths in scrap material to establish how deep you want your pegs to sit. Sorry I can't give one specific answer for all caases. I have seen that different peg makers have different tapers and different lengths - so don't have a one answer fits all for this topic. Hope this is helpful.

    Do you happen to know if Vectric desktop version 11 has the same feature for sizing as you describe for the Pro?

      I am sorry but I do not have the Vectric Desktop Version of the software so I can't answer that question definitively. I think it was added, but to be sure reach out to Vectric and they will provide you an answer.

    What is the modification to the left side of the IQ? It looks like a clamping board with a fence (maybe for cutting dovetails)? If so, is there a video or plans for this modification? Great video!

      It is a clamping board to allow joinery on a vertical piece of wood. Last I spoke with Laguna they were still in the prototyping phase. Maybe we’ll here more in the near future or as a reply to your comment.

    too slow on the peg holes. I run an 1/8" spektra amana bit at 50 ipm plunge and feed rate at 0.003 fpt takes me 6 minutes to cut the pegs. 8 minutes on 60 deg. v bit to do letters and rails. 3 minutes using 1/4" spektra amana bit for contour. so thats 17 minutes add 2 minutes to switch out bits, reset z and go. so 20 minutes to do one cribbage board. Still love the video and good work.

      Jason thank you for your input. I readily admit that I typically use conservative toolpaths. Appears you are using a pocket toolpath - if you are setting your feed rate and plunge rate. Glad this is working for you and you have me intrigued a bit. When i was using a pocket toolpath, with my 1/8 inch bit, I could not get close to that efficiency without burning. Now I will need to try with your information. I usually do 3/16" holes but I'll try something close to your settings with my 3/16" bit and see how that works. Others may be interested in the specific bit you are using - do you have a Amana tool number you can share? Thanks again for your input.

      @@RobSandstromDesigns Amana Tool 46341-K CNC SC Spektra Extreme Tool Life Coated Spiral Plunge for Solid Wood 1/8 D x 1/2 CH x 1/4 SHK x 2 Inch Long Down-Cut Router Bit and Amana Tool 46248-K CNC SC Spektra Extreme Tool Life Coated Spiral Plunge for Solid Wood 1/4 D x 1 CH x 1/4 SHK x 2-1/2 Inch Long Up-Cut Router Bit. the peg holes I used drill not pocket. the 1/4" contour is set at 0.1875" depth, ramp, 50 ipm plunge and fpt at 0.005 so around 180 ipm. the drill operation is set at 0.003 fpt, rapid drill and 50 ipm plunge. you can see my video on cribbage boards how fast it goes. I don't get any burns with these bits. I highly reccommend them.
