So the cheapest from Aldi worked out at just under £5 per Kg. I was at my local butchers a couple a days ago and they make the most awesome sausages and they are about £4.50 per kg. So cheaper and supporting my local butcher. Hadn't really thought about the price per Kg until watching this video - made my day to realise the small local shop can beat Aldi!
We have one in the country side they sell so many the are constantly making them in huge out back area if it's not from their own cattle pigs ect They tell you what local farm the meat is sourced ,it's as you say much cheaper than any supermarket ,£1.65 for the best pies I've ever eaten ,it's about an 11 mile drive but always spend about £30 including fillet steak pies sausages bacon lasts days 🇬🇧🍀👍🏼

Hi Gareth, I'm a 75 year old retired gentleman of leisure. In my thirties I worked for six years at a Turkey farm in Sussex which also raised sheep (300 breeding ewes) beef cattle, pigs and a flock of chickens for the eggs. I was part of the farm shop setup and my duties were turkey plucking, frozen meat etc stock control, deliveries and I was the sausage maker. We made turkey and pork sausages and possibly beef as well but my memory isn't what it was. Lol. The recipe for each type of sausage was reached after a lot of trial and error. (Before my time) I can honestly say the pork sausages were the best I've ever tasted and nothing since has come anywhere near. Geoff.

Hi I always buy Aldi pork chipolata sausages, they taste lovely and I think they’re 94 or 96% meat, they also are £1.99 per pack, but being thinner you get 12 in the pack, great taste test tfs Jax 🥰 x
Interesting comparison. These days the price is definitely a factor. I tend to buy the Morrison's Cumberland (I found the Lincolnshire too herby and needed more salt). I do like the Heck ones and buy them when on offer. The one thing that has happened over the last few years which is great is that most of the decent sausages (like these) are now gluten free for those of us who have to avoid that.
@Dreamweaver 787 Sorry but this is nonsense. The only thing that has changed is using rice flour instead of wheatflour and if they were not labelled as GF you wouldn't even notice the difference. You can still buy other sausages with wheat in them if you like. And by the way Coeliac disease is not an "intolerance"...it's an autoimmune condition that causes serious health complications if left untreated.
@Dreamweaver 787 You are comparing apples and pears. One use of it is on a brewing process and the other is in small quantities as a binding agent. Methinks you are just a contrary old bore who would find anything to complain about given enough time

With reference to the £1 difference between M&S and Aldi, sometimes it's about the ingredients, not just the taste. There are plenty of additives to make something taste nice.
Brilliant vid. I don't like nutmeg or mace in sausages, and it depends if it is a breakfast sausage, or a dinner treat. You could try a taste off with nitrite / sulphate free bacon and sausages, as that is supposed to be the stuff that is unhealthy in `processed' food. Thanks.
Quite an eye-opener, this one.. I agree totally about over-herbing...Coriander ?...Pepper is the thing that gets me.. Some of 'em over-do it. I'm like you. It's the meatiness that matters, they have to taste like pork...! I told you before about Westaways from Asda, 16 in a box, minimal packaging., lovely tasting...correct seasoning, I think. Horses for courses though, isn't it. Breakfast..Toad in the hole..Sausage casserole...In a sandwich or de-skinned for stuffing....whatever. One more thing...Colour is flavour..! Very true for a sausage. I noticed that M&S split open...Not good..Moisture lost..Happens when pan frying, I know..Slightly too hot, pan wise, and that can happen to the best. But, you ovened them...Hmmm...Bad M&S..!!! I usually do mine in the oven for breakfast..Can't remember a splitter. But I do turn them often and exceed the stated cook time. Here's a tip..When I oven them, I rub each sausage with rape seed oil first. I think it helps. Cracking "heads up" though...I'm off to Tesco for my next sausage... Thanks mate, another good'un.
You would probably prefer the cheaper Morrisons sausages. They tend to put more herbs in the more expensive range. I am not 100% keen on Coriander myself.
Great review, deffo gonna try the Aldi ones. Finally found some plates like yours only they are blue £3.50 each from Tesco, they only had the dinner plates and bowls 😀😀
There is more & less in the packets! So are you going to divide to one cost per sausage? Mainly feeding a family meal you will have to buy another pack? Plus size of the sausage & their ingredients?
That was a spot on review we love all your videos I keep looking for new things In Iceland and Lidl thanks for a great night on Friday me and the wife really really enjoy it keep up the great work stay safe to you and your lovely family
Golden oldie Gareth catching up! Not a lover of sausages only buy Chipolatas if ever. Really enjoyed this vlog on sausages. I agree with you not keen on Coriander so if its in the M and S sausage would give it a miss. I will give Tesco finest a go. Thank you Gareth.
Oh, well. Cath and I sat "hmm"ing at each other between tastes. "What do you think, Cath, hmm, hmm?" And when he said he'd have a drink between sausages, well, a Scotch after each nibble, the end result should be fun! "This is a great haggis, seasoning's just right. Hmm". Superb, Gareth, another masterpiece.
G'day Gareth. Wow.. 🤤 a sausage convention. Half your luck having such a choice to choose from. This video was a Banga of a review. Very professionally thought out and executed. Cooking them all together at the one time and tasting from expensive to cheapest is the best way. It set off Hunger pangs and now I want....need a sausage fix.. Great value for effort Gareth. Cheers 😀👍🤤🇦🇺
For sausages, my mate Steve the butcher is the only option. Makes me spoiled, I know, but I've seen the quality he produces. Just occasionally I give in and buy Walls or Richmond to remind me of sausages and tomato soup when I was a kid. Always end up feeling unwell.
Hi Gareth, I’ve been in hospital since Tuesday so I’ve missed your live show, but I’m catching up..they look delicious but l have to buy skinless sausage. Great review.👍
We are having OUR PORK SHOP Margoram sausages for me and our Thomas, and chilli ones for my wife Phannee. Oven cooked for flavour with our own rice and Edible Oil Seed Rape, a delish green veg out of our "garden" ( two acres).
Overall I think your conclusion sums it up well. It comes down to personal preferences. 👀We used to (going back to the 80s) Walls porkers.. NOW? Nah..😶 a lot of manufacturers changed their recipes.. 👀
Do you find that the skins on sausages have changed? They seem to be very thick and rubbery nowadays. Sometimes I have to cut them off. Probably more skin so less meat = cheaper cost!
Many years ago Co-Op used to do their own sausages. I remember they were a bit shorter than usual and very plump, like an oversized cocktail sausage. Don't think they were a particular style like Cumberland or Lincolnshire, just regular pork sausages. But they were absolutely gorgeous, super meaty and the seasoning was perfect. Short of proper butcher's sausages, they were the best bangers I've had still to this day. Sadly they changed the recipe. Completely different now. Not unpleasant but nothing like the ones I remember. I'll have to give the Asda and Iceland ones a go next week. 😀
i had a look at ingredients of m&s vs aldi and they virtually same apart from casings being pork at m&s but id say they both from same factory. really good review thatll save a lot of money. great!
By the way mate I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi over here and I like probably 90% of what they have. I do buy bangers and other meat at My local butcher but. I still don't mind the Aldi sausage but.

Thanks mate, another good'un.
thanks 😊
You would probably prefer the cheaper Morrisons sausages. They tend to put more herbs in the more expensive range. I am not 100% keen on Coriander myself.
Interesting one Gareth. Would love you to have included the Co-op ones too 🙂
yes sorry missed them
WOW! That's a lot of sausage!!! I tend to eat veggie sausages but thanks for the video. Cheers!!
You're welcome
I've been binging your vids tonight 👍 and it's my cheat day the morra and those sausages have put me right in the mood 😍😁
oh enjoy the food Brian. Keep the diet up.
Hi Gareth where did you get that Baldi aldi mug from co would love to get one for my dad, please let me know if you can.
yes it was sent to me as a gift, cheers.
I usually go with heck but they are normally £3 where I am. They have a short ingredients list which I like! 97% meat and usually not to fatty.
Great review, deffo gonna try the Aldi ones. Finally found some plates like yours only they are blue £3.50 each from Tesco, they only had the dinner plates and bowls 😀😀
Nice one!
Just come across this one, as usual love the content. Asda special sausages chill ones are great, as I know you like spice, give them a go
Thanks for the tips!
Heck for me. Always tasty and cook very well.
There is more & less in the packets! So are you going to divide to one cost per sausage? Mainly feeding a family meal you will have to buy another pack? Plus size of the sausage & their ingredients?
I like the tesco finest chipolata s too I rem watching your review on em and so right brown sauce on sausages red on bacon 👍
You must try Dickson's available from Asda. Made just down the road from me in South Shields.
cheers
Love the sausage review, your right who needs corrinader in their sausage

Just looking at this video has made me want to cook sausages now for lunch😊😉 great review again Gareth spot on
thanks 😊
Golden oldie Gareth catching up! Not a lover of sausages only buy Chipolatas if ever. Really enjoyed this vlog on sausages. I agree with you not keen on Coriander so if its in the M and S sausage would give it a miss. I will give Tesco finest a go. Thank you Gareth.
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh, well. Cath and I sat "hmm"ing at each other between tastes. "What do you think, Cath, hmm, hmm?" And when he said he'd have a drink between sausages, well, a Scotch after each nibble, the end result should be fun! "This is a great haggis, seasoning's just right. Hmm". Superb, Gareth, another masterpiece.
haha cheers Tony, thanks.
What a lovely gift, shows how much you are loved😊😊
great gift Wendy.
Cheers 😀👍🤤🇦🇺
cheers John thanks 😊
For sausages, my mate Steve the butcher is the only option. Makes me spoiled, I know, but I've seen the quality he produces. Just occasionally I give in and buy Walls or Richmond to remind me of sausages and tomato soup when I was a kid. Always end up feeling unwell.
cheers Robert
Hi Gareth, I’ve been in hospital since Tuesday so I’ve missed your live show, but I’m catching up..they look delicious but l have to buy skinless sausage. Great review.👍
I hope your ok Margaret.
@@BaldFoodieGuyyes I’m feeling a lot better Gareth, I’ve just had a flare up with crohns . I’m on the steroids so fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Asda’s best are my fave!
Cooked on the BBQ they are absolutely spot on😉
And thank you very much for reading my message 🤣
you're welcome
Great review Garath you agree with me on the Tesco Finest I like these. I HATE
CORIANDER on any shape or
form.Great night Friday such fun ! Lyndax
Thanks for watching!
Whats not to love about a super sausage food off! 🙃 This is what RUclips is all about
Absolutely!!
We are having OUR PORK SHOP Margoram sausages for me and our Thomas, and chilli ones for my wife Phannee. Oven cooked for flavour with our own rice and Edible Oil Seed Rape, a delish green veg out of our "garden" ( two acres).
sounds great Don, spot on pal.
Great honest review Gareth . And it goes to show price doesn't always mean best .
cheers Kevin
Just about to watch the video and I find the Tesco finest range to be the best of all the supermarkets, the pork and apple is the best of the bunch
Normally get Tesco Finest but prefer Porkys wen discounted. Great vid keep up the good work 👏
Thanks 👍
Overall I think your conclusion sums it up well. It comes down to personal preferences. 👀We used to (going back to the 80s) Walls porkers.. NOW? Nah..😶 a lot of manufacturers changed their recipes.. 👀
I buy the thin sausages.i like the tesco finest,marksys,and co-op 1s..good review tho🙋♂️👍🤩
thanks 😊
Do you find that the skins on sausages have changed? They seem to be very thick and rubbery nowadays. Sometimes I have to cut them off. Probably more skin so less meat = cheaper cost!
good point erm ive not noticed to be honest but good one to think about. Thanks 😊
Synthetic skins now, not proper butchers skins.
Hi I got 24 from Iceland last time £4 and I have noticed the price as gone up as every thing else my order is coming next Sunday
great video pal , i love the heck sausages !! please could u review the cathedral city pork and cheddar sausage rolls
Will do soon
Yummy! ❤
thanks pal, cracking comment.
Hi I remember coop butches in BURY , SELLING LOOSE PORK SAUSAGES , ,absolutely the best I’ve 3ver eaten ,but I’m going back 45 years , ,sadly missed ,
Gareth they all looked good, but I must give it to Aldi for price 👍🏻👍🏻😁
yes Lee budget they come on top but being honest there was nothing in it really. Aldi won on buget.
Love the way BFG says “they’re tasty” 😆
😋 haha yes
i had a look at ingredients of m&s vs aldi and they virtually same apart from casings being pork at m&s but id say they both from same factory. really good review thatll save a lot of money. great!
cheers I appreciate it
Never tried black pudding how does it taste???
its nothing that i can compare it to really. Its a like or lothe one. I love it.
Yeah mate I got no idea I'm from Australia. I just believe you that it's good. I'd give it a go mate
By the way mate I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi over here and I like probably 90% of what they have. I do buy bangers and other meat at My local butcher but. I still don't mind the Aldi sausage but.
