I went through all these steps and all seems like it was good, but i dont seem to have a secureboot option in the BIOS, in windows when i looked, it says disabled, but now i wiped my hard drive so it loads into a black screen with a blinking cursor (which im assuming is booting in legacy... any ideas how to boot it to get the chromeos screen .. i can still do the f12 to gboot a drive or DEL to get the bios but i dont see any secureboot options there? I have chromeosflex on a usb but its not the same ... wondering if there is a differnt way to get it to boot.

I changed from Chrome OS Flex to Chrome OS and now I can access the Play Store!

When I connect to wifi or ethernet and choose 'You' to use a chromebook, it keeps loading and after 5 minutes screen reload and I'm back on the Choose screen. In the video you can also see a time jump from 10:19 to 12:20, is there a problem with that, how should I continue? Thank you

I tried to install it using your instructions but it was actually trying to install ON THE USB DRIVE I was booting off of, while in the Terminal window I had to use lsblk (enter) to list the hard drives and low and behold sda is the USB drive (oh oh)...for me it mmcblk2. So everyone should use lsblk to list the all the drives and modify the last command based on the drives listed. I've subscribed to watch more of your cool how to videos! Please do some Rasberry Pi stuff.

How do I select USB (57.9 GB in screenshot) as installation destination. (note: the same USB has linux and chromeOS folder) Could you please list the commands line by line how to select the USB and install chromeOS over it.

Sidenote; if you're on an older Dell computer, Wi-Fi will not work and an Ethernet connection is required. Make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected to the correct router.
I got Dell Latitude E6410 I'm not able to pass the sign-in process WiFi and Eithernet both are working but it just oops, something went wrong

@@nsxa93 😂 i guess we're both out of luck. You might wanna try Chrome OS flex ! (No playstore) it works for me. And I'm currently on Zorin OS! It's very snappy. Loving it
@@emcee-rit I screwed up my CMOS battery compartment so it just pops out, so it won't boot unless i place it back after i open it up. Currently using an Lenovo Ideapad 3 14IML05 with Windows 10 Pro and Fedora Linux (it works with Brunch) and an Dell Inspiron 1545on CrOS Flex (isn't UEFI, doesn't work with Android, and Linux doesn't work so CrOS Flex makes more sense).

@@nsxa93 but your Dell model supports uefi ! Mine much older. But yeah CMOS part sucks it'll reset your bios each time if it's not being detected. But yeah ! Your other laptop is nice.

Thank you for this guide. It is important to know, that on some older devices the hard disk is not named as sda but as mmcblk0. In this case you have to change the last line in COMMANDS
Well this has little to do with age and more so to do with the type of storage controller the PC uses. SDA is denoted by a SATA controller or your typical internal, but replaceable, SSD or HDD. mmcblk0 is denoted by integrated flash storage (soldered MMC storage device), so it really just depends on the storage device the system uses, but good call either way.
run lsblk to check disks

Hello, thank you for the tutorial, I tried it on old Asus K50IJ laptop, I did everything according to tips and finally got the completion message. After the restart laptop is showing "Missing OS" :( What can be wrong?
Ensure the BIOS is set to boot from UEFI and not Legacy.
Thanks for this tutorial. I was able to install Chrome on a Dell laptop but the play store is not loading, also the photos app is not loading.The both stay on Staring playstore / Photos.

What am I doing wrong? Every time I try, it overwrites the flashdrive and not the internal drive
so i figured out what i was doing wrong. looks like \dev\sda is not a constant. you need to check and see what the name of the drive you want to install to is called and replace \dev\sda with that

Do the same steps with Rufus on Linux and boot from the pen drive but you have to use another storage or you will lose your actual Linux OS because this method/commands wipe your target storage

just installed the chromeOS on my old MacBook. It works fine. One question though: does this ChromeOS build support the official OS update? Right now, it is running on Version 103.0.5060.132 (Official Build) but I believe the current official version is 104.
most are still on 103, 104 is fairly new, i have a ryzen n it has 104

please help. i got bootloop i only saw Chrome OS welcome screen once and it restarted. since then i am in endless bootloop after loading brunch framework. i am using ideapad 110 with intel n3060 4gb ram. EDIT: Nvm, i re-install it using rammus 102 instead of 103, everything is working great

Hi, nice video and explanations. However I didn’t figure out how to install on a partition drive. I have an old intel MacBook with partition sda4 free. The install does not accept as it isn’t a whole drive in sys/block. I tried to mount sda4 but still doesn’t work. Any advice ? Thanks Pierre

I have an HP Pavillion 340, and ChromeOS Flex runs ok. I got the same issue when I changed the boot selection. If not, ChromeOS installation with Brunch falls into an infinite loop, just saying "Loading Brunch Framework."
