Happy for you bro. Best wishes! Van Halen debut for Hard rock and Killing Machine and Stained Class by Judas Priest for Metal without a doubt my favs. UFO is awesome as well and you caught my interest for Heavy Load and Legs Diamond!
Great year for classic hard rock. 4 of my favourite albums released this year are live albums by Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, Scorpions and Sammy Hagar, but we seem to be dealing only in studio albums here 1 Obsession UFO 2 Powerage AC/DC 3 Pieces of Eight. Styx 4 S/T Van Halen 5 Stained Class Judas Priest 6 Portrait of the Artist As a young Ram (American) Ram Jam 7 Blood brothers The Dictators 8 Killing Machine Judas Priest 9 Double Vision Foreigner 10 Long Live RocknRoll Rainbow 9
I still have Obsession by UFO and you'd really dig my album collection. Green Manalishi is an original Peter Green Fleetwood Mac song. I personally knew Danny Joe Brown of Molly Hatchet. I met him first at Fredericksburg Memorial Rock Concert in 83. Then again later that summer at a Kings Dominion concert. Then I took a job at a restaurant, on 1-95 and he always popped in to say hi. He was truly a nice guy and a southern gentleman, that adored his wife and family. I was really bummed when he passed away. I hope, in time, that you put together some playlists with your favorite songs. Love seeing young guns appreciate music from days gone by.
For me 1978 was the year of the live albums. I know you’re not supposed to include them, but these all contain the definitive versions of these songs as far as I was concerned so I just can’t resist: 10. All Night Long - Sammy Hagar 9. Alive 2 - Slade 8. If you want blood - AC/DC 7. At Budokan - Cheap Trick 6. Live & Dangerous - Thin Lizzy & now the studio albums: 5. Tonic for the Troops - Boomtown Rats 4. The Cars - The Cars 3. Jazz -Queen 2. Double Vision - Foreigner 1. Van Halen - Van Halen

Some great picks here Bryce! My favourite would also be the 1st Van Halen album, it is so much fun and filled with blistering guitar playing and riffs and great melodies. Killing Machine from Priest would also be up there, it is my favourite of the 70s Priest albums. Nice haircut BTW.
Queen - Jazz Van Halen - s/t Ramones - Road to Ruin Judas Priest - Stained Class AC/DC - Powerage If we're counting live albums, Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous
Good list! Mine looks like that: 1) Van Halen 1st 2) Rainbow "Long Live Rock'n'Roll" 3) AC/DC "Powerage" 4) Black Sabbath "Never say Die" 5) Blue Öyster Cilt "Spectres" 6) Royals "Live" (a finnish band, maybe it isn't hard rock overall, but there's a CRAZY, epic & amazing version of Ted Nugent & Amboy Dukes "No Holds Barred") 7) Judas Preist "Stained Glass" 8) Whitesnake "Trouble" 9) UFO "Obsession" 10) Status Quo "If You Can't Stand the Heat..."
Great list! My favorite probably would be the Scorpions with Tokyo Tapes. You probably didn’t include this one because it came out in the US in 1979, but here in Europe it was released in 1978.
@@mannyvelizofficial I've always said, I'm not a Rainbow fan, I'm a Ronnie Dio fan. And I stand by that, never liked much after Dio left. Obviously the band was essentially a supergroup, but after Dio they left the more Metallic sound in place for a more mainstream Rock sound.
@@alfie.6652 yeah I don’t like those albums, I love Dio but what made me love those albums was Ritchie Blackmore, an incredible guitarist and the father of neoclassical style
