Sounds like another great hire for Wren. Looking forward to watching his son play in the Gold and Blue.

Big 12, power 5 level of play is about to give you and Wren a wake up call...( I hope I am wrong) Just some quick thoughts off the top of my head.
How manys wins is in his first year? Do we have next years schedule yet? His sons looks good... I wish him well, I have no idea if he is a good hire... Good luck West Virginia... Wren said a defensive minded coach is what we needed and the rules have changed to give the offence the edge when it comes to drawing a charging foul. (or at least that is what I heard is the reason teams our scoring more this year ) I guess you never really know about someone until they are thrown in the fire as our head coach will be... I look forward to seeing his staff and how they go about recruiting players, you know the ones that can play at this level... Big men that are athletic and will not get pushed around... but hey everyone is looking for that except last years staff at WVU... Wague, Tre and the guy the went to North Carolina ... three big men... Oh well, it's a new era at WVU Basketball ....

Reminiscent of John Beilein and his son coming as a package from U of Richmond. That worked out well for WVU.

@@fwilliamcony28 yes.... and no...Big 12 basketball today and college basketball... even in the big East is not the same....with NIL money , transfer portal ... money in the game has changes everything. but I do see things that appear to be close in the same ... Richmond had blue in their uniforms & a coach with a son that played off the bench ( no disrespect to Pat or John , they came here when Bob Huggins would not ... we needed them) It's all new to me...

I mean, Byington got further this tourney than DeVries ever has, so I'm not sure the loss to Duke today had anything to do with it.

Yea hiring a mid major coach with no p5 experience was a bad move imo....now a mid major player holds a scholarship and roster spot. Im not a big fan of this..its been great with neal brown for 5 years..oh wait

That’s. Not fair. Especially in basketball. How did you like John Beilein?

@@scottlantz1239 and the difference is his only experience was at drake, then he was assistant...beilein was at several schools, then came to wvu. Like 5 other schools before wvu.....thats the difference.

DeVries was an assistant at Creighton, a major program.@@jbrumfield6090

@@jbrumfield6090I don’t think you realize just how differently college basketball works compare to football, there’s no comparison. There’s much MUCH more parity in basketball. A hell of a lot of g5 teams give wvu a run for their money
