For some reason this makes me think of the Freezing Alchemist. He was the only one who knew what was going on in the beginning and tried to fight alone to stop it all. Nobody understood what he was trying to do. They mistook him for a villain when he was really the hero. He didn't have what Ed and Al had, which was a group of people backing their play. He was all on his own. Great anime.

Hmm I'll have to rewatch it. I thought at first he was going to destroy all of central to do it, but now that you mention it the huge glaciers didn't smash through houses or anything.... but anyone out on those streets was fucked lol.
What surprises me was that no one in the anime had really thought about him when they all realized that there was something wrong with the government and that the king's a homonculus
It would have been nice if Ed had a flashback to what McDougal was saying at some point when he realized how far up the chain the corruption had gone. And maybe, expressing some sort of guilt in not acknowledging what Isaac was doing.

This is the key to Father's downfall. The Truly shapes itself to the reality of the person opposing it. It makes real whatever truth the person facing it conceives. When Ed faced Truth one last time, he had overcome his reliance and submission to the Truth he had faced when limited by his narrow understanding of alchemy. Father never grew and as a result could never escape his own destiny.
'Humans who would dare to play God must pay a steep price for their arrogance. That is Truth'. This was Father's Truth. Despite his best attempts, he WAS Human. Formed from their blood, fueled by their deaths and even originally possessed the 7 deadly sins - like a Human. His attempts to remove them were a key symbol of his flaws.

And also anyone forced to do human transmutation, someone completely unwilling to do it. Roy didn't dare to play god, and it blinded him. "Truth" is something able to be controlled if you have enough energy and with the correct ritual, it's not a god. Just some weird little thing inflicting what it can onto whomever does something it doesn't like, regardless of actual intent of whomever does it. More likely, it isn't even a being, but some sort of system that reacts to whomever is presented to it based on their mind. It had nothing to say to Roy at all.
Father could have beaten it, he proved it's not impossible and that someone else could do it someday.
He got rid of his 7 sins, but never gained the 7 virtues. beautiful

Well, if you look at the homunculi they also show some signs of their respective virtues...
-Pride was rather willing to serve Father
-Envy was kind (sometimes)
-Gluttony was willing to abstain if others asked him to
-Lust never had... well you get the idea
-Wrath was rather patient as a ruler and fighter
-Greed was generous to his friends
-Sloth was diligent enough to dig the entire nationwide transmutation circle instead of just fucking off to who knows where
...Whether it was intentional or if it was just a side effect of them being multidimensional characters is the question.
I know most people think of the ending when they hear this track, but for me it will always *define* that confrontation between Scar and Bradley.

I know that father was the villain of the series but when seeing him talking to truth as a form of a little ball of shadow, he seemed so innocent especially the way he was begging to not be taken down and how he wanted knowledge and to be free. It's sad.
That is exactly the point why they chose to show him in his morph ball form, b/c a villain doesn't have to have the features that always demonstrates what a true villain looks like. It's the acts of a villain that create a memorable antagonist. I love father, b/c not a lot of shows depict a villain as scrawny, or hopeless looking.
Honestly, FMAB had no villains, just different people with different goals that overlapped.

I find it sad how almost no one realises how human Father actually is.
Father isn't just some guy wanting to be God because he feels like it. He says it's to become a perfect being, but there's more.
He wants what every human wants: Freedom
You see no matter where you are, there are always laws constricting you down: society, nature, god, physics, time....
Those are things that we have no control over, but they have control over us. This is what Father wanted, he wanted true freedom, to not be bound by anyone or anything, to avoid consequence, to do whatever he desires. And his plan makes sense, if you strike down/become that which sets all laws, then you are the one that is free.
Now I'm not saying I justify his actions, just that this desire that he had is something all of us have, deep inside.
And he dies poetically just like the other humunculi: he gains the power to avoid all laws, but loses freedom itself.
He's more human than anyone gives him credit for....
We're all in a flask if you think about it.

That was my conclusion at the end. What an amazing anime, it really calls into question what constitutes being "human."
All of the homunculus deep down are very human, which is why their stories are so tragic (specially Envy's one).

It's more than God. The Truth simply says it is God because that is what Humans would most easily be able to recognise it by. That's why he rattles off several titles. The Truth isn't anything that Humans can identify.

Bradley's soliloquy right before his fight with Scar, it was so haunting. He was always a very striking character to me, and I feel like only now do we really get to see what goes on in his head. A very interesting villain indeed.

GayTrash l-/ Actually truth was lenient/forgiving in a few cases. For instance with mustang, he only lost his eyesight, but another alchemist lost his actual eyes because he willingly performed the transmutation. It was because of truth that mustang was able to get his eyesight back.

Father wasn't punished for thirsting for knowledge and seeking to acquire it. He was punished for being not only a hypocrite but for having a sense of rebellion against God and wanting to be God so therefore tried to take the power of God for his own. He misinterpreted his purpose and lost all sense of his apparent truth. That's what truth was saying You must have already known. He was trying to play God in some of the most blatant ways possible. His defeat was assured and truth took the equal measure.
when I hear this song I remember when bradley immediately stopped fighting scar when the black fog rose up from the ground because he knew there was no point fighting anymore, Father had completed the ritual and opened the gate. very creepy scene.
Man I just finished and I'd give anything to watch it for the first time again. You all make very valid points and this is why I love Anime. This show, and especially the topic of Father and his ideals makes for great debate....its like a little college class confined within a youtube comment section and I love it. I have to say, this is one of my favorites in the OST. You feel like something bad is happening, but that's not it. I can also hear some wonder and amazement as well, which would fit the moment perfectly (not gonna spoil by saying anything more).

This piece is a perfect send-off for our little claustrophobic dustcloud.
He craved perfection but never strived for it. He only strived for power using whatever means for a very long time. Truth then gives Homunculus , a fitting despair.
It really emphasizes what awakening truly is
At first the song sounds slow and inocent, then it slowly spirals into a more realistic and faster rythm
every time I hear this song I think of the old ATF Deep Six Title Screen and the music goes so good with it
This is my favorite OST in the entire anime, the etheralness of it is amazing, gives you the feeling that you have crossed the line and now you're in too deep and there is no escape for what's coming for you now

Faith in god/truth is faith in the world, faith in the world is faith in other people. Even for someone unfaithful such as I this is a central fact of reality and morality itself.
the homunculus believed only in themself. They refused to cooperate with the world, to live in harmony, to such an extent they were willing to bring imbalance and tear the world to shreds for their own ambition in spite of the fact the truth of the world is true happiness and understanding of everything can only occur with the cooperation of others, as others are truth, and others are the world. That is why Edward was rewarded, they put their faith in everyone he knew for everything he had.

Rewatching this show now as an adult I realized how unbelievably perfect it showed how important one life is and that no matter what everyone deserves a chance that a human so can never be taken without a price nomotter how big or small it may be, nothing is of more value than a human soul.

I don’t know why, but when this played when Ed, Hoenheim, Al, Izumi and Mustang were all being used as human sacrifices to open the portal, I swear it made me feel an emotion that doesn’t exist.

The beautiful theme of this series is that Edward progressively accepts that existence means having limitations and that seeking to surpass those limitations at the cost of others is not a virtue, something the dwarf in the flask never learned. The dwarf was so obsessed with removing any and all constraints regardless of the cost it imposed on others but never at a cost to himself. His arrogance led to the lesser beings he trampled on for generations revolting and overthrowing him.
Nothing comes without a cost but the people who go the farthest are the ones willing to put their own life on the line to sacrifice for something greater. You cannot gain something you can truly grasp without first losing something of yourself you are willing to forsake. But the thing that comes out the other side is more valuable than the thing you sacrificed thus it isn't truly an equal exchange. You gave something good for something greater.
This song really fits with one is all, all is one. It starts simple, slowly getting more intricate as instruments join in. Each part is distinguishable as an individual instrument or layer, but slowly builds to a cohesive single melody.
Hearing this when everyone's souls were taken really took me off guard. Instead of one of the loud battle anthems you hear this soft build light instrumentation. It was very powerful because it just intensified the suffering that was visible on the sacrifices faces... (I watched this with my headphones in with another person in the room. I screamed and scared the shit out of her)

This ost is stunning; it has a dark edge to it while still remaining soft. It parallels the action of us humans in several ways. Nothing is gained without a cost; none of us are flawless; we are all flawed in some way, and as we make mistakes, we become stronger; we never stop. And I believe that is the most beautiful thing of all.
You know when an anime charcter says something motivantional, or has a massive power up to procect his loved ones, and u get goosebumps? This entire song gives me that feeling
This song, it feels like a sword in my heart that isn’t causing blood or damage. It’s a sword that reminds of my past and shows me what I‘ve done wrong.
Amazing. Such suspense and emotion. They used this song twice in the entire series, and both times really driven their whole message home. Believe in yourself. If you think about it, this OST plays both times when we finally get an in-depth insight into the two most shrouded villains, Father and Wrath.
Father's end was fitting. For a being who tried to become God, him crying and begging as he's pulled into the portal reveals how weak and pathetic he has always been.

What a beautiful composition...I re-visit this video from time to time and just reflect on my life.....
Ths is why, despite the love I have for FMA 2003, that I felt FMA 2009 conveys a much more wholesome and important lesson not only for the characters, but also viewers that came across. That is to not deny the weaknesses that we have but to accept it, and embrace it and keep ourselves in check. That we all sin, but through that we learn virtue, and be the better versions ofnourselves. Or else, you’ll just be another dwarf in a flask, believing yourself to be better, but you’re actually just the same as when you first started.

It sounds quite mysterious at the beginning, but as the track goes on, it feels more... tragic... It's like you discovered something which will change your life forever, something unpleasant, something which you won't want to acknowledge... A truly magnificent soundtrack.
Sometimes, when I'm stressed from something or when I have a big project/event coming, I like to just stand on my house's roof in the time of sunrise/sunset while listening to this.
The music, with the image of the sun shining through so many objects right before my eyes, always makes me think about how true the statement "one is all, and all is one" is while also making me feel somewhat spiritually untied with our whole tiny little planet.
And when I feel that weird unity, I start to think:
If we, as all life on this planet, have gone through so many problems, some caused by us, and some don't, and we are still standing,
then there's no reason that I, who's just a one tiny human, get stressed all over just a one tiny event?
And all the stress melts away.

Much like the amazing art shown here, as if they found some meaning and enjoyment through there struggles to which they love dearly. This song brings a lot of emotions and characterizes to the whole story. Love ❤️ FMAB.

i havent watched the anime yet but if you know after the flash on roblox, this song was used in an event during the deep six story line, where the USM bombs civillian buildings in the People's republic of tidewater in the second american civil war.
