    As usual, great video Don! Got the Wilson Beretta after watching your video, now you have me wanting this hi-cap 9mm beast. Good grief that Wilson up next to the G19 is not fair! Thanks Brother!

      While it might be the best double stack 9mm ever made, it certainly is the best looking one ever made! You're right Don, there is no substitute for quality. I got the Trifecta from Bill 20 years ago (UT-15 AR, Supergrade 1911 & Scattergun Tech 870 12 ga) and they are still running flawlessly. The UT-15 is serial #WC00014. Still my best AR out of the 6 I have around. Not one malfunction in all that time, thousands of rounds. BTW, your excellent video quality really made that pistol shine and stand out!

      Mark Williamson if you make a 1911 double stack in 9 mm, is it not a Hi Power?

    I just knew the comments would be full of people saying a $3k gun will never sell, Glocks are just as good, etc. it's like they want every gun to cost $550 or less. There are people who WANT to pay high prices for higher quality guns.

    • @TacticalToolbox
      @TacticalToolbox 7 лет назад +15

      People will pay it... Otherwise salient arms, agency arms, and Zev Technologies would all be out of business

      Trigger Happy: That's fine, if you're happy with your trailer because it works as shelter, and your Kia because it gets from A to B, and your Glock because it shoots, that's fine. Some of us want a higher quality life.

      Man its just a tool if it doesn't work in what I do Im dead so I want the best. At the end of the day my life is worth a hell of a hell of a lot more than any gun on earth. To that end I have shot and carried 1911s since I first started shooting them at 7 years old. I know that platform and I can shoot the ticks off of a dogs a** with one.

    • @jarredlkling
      @jarredlkling 7 лет назад +10

      Guns are tools. I still recall the day when I decided that guns weren't for going out and having fun but a TOOL to protect my family, when I realized this I sold every gun I owned that had ever had a malfunction and bought high end weapons that i could barely afford because i knew i could trust my life and my family life too. Think of Guns like wrenches, if you are a professional mechanic you arn't going to have Black and Decker tools from Home Depot, granted they work fine for most jobs, but when your using them as your livelihood to provide food for they family your going to go get a chest of Snap-Ons and not risk not being able to finish a job because of an inferior tool, just like Rusty Shacklefort says for his job he could carry a kel-tec but he doesent want cheep tools, he wants the best, and Willison Combat is the best

      G3oc3nt1c I couldn't have said it better myself. Im very similar to you if I have malfunctions after a certain period (i.e. after break in and checking the problem isn't ammo or mag related) they get sold. For now I am single and get paid well as a federal leo so I buy the best I can for whatever job the weapon will be used.

    if your going to carry a 1911 for a edc wilson is the way to go.. if your going to depend on a 1911 to possibly save your life why not have the best.. so what if the cops take it if i use it.. if im alive and it saved me then ill buy another one whats 3k when it could be the difference between living and dieing if your cheaper gun malfunctions .. love the wilson guns ;) xtac elite owner here 45acp though

    Ordered it today 6 to 8 months wait time, bronze lower, black upper, dirty olive grips, two extra mags, short trigger and small grips. I asked if the can drill and tap for a red dot, not yet although they are working on a rail so you can remove the rear sight and install a red dot, it's still in the planning stage. Can't wait

    I have been a Glock fan for years. After seeing this masterpiece, I am selling my Zev Glock 19 and I ordered one of these. Superior Wilson Combat quality with ALL the features this has,WOW!!!! I really miss the 1911 trigger, grip angle, but I liked the reliabilty of my Glock. Wilson changed the frame, slide (with an external extractor) and many other details, just amazing!

    I bought one. Took 6 mos. of extra odd jobs to pay for it at age 68. It can be done, but wishing you had 3 grand won’t cut it. You have to want it enough to find the extra work to pay it. And yes it was worth it!

    Thanks so much for the review. I've been on the edge of putting a deposit on the X9 but there are no reviews that aren't just based on press releases until yours'.
    I've been looking at other Wilson's and for the features you get standard with the X9 (such as fluted barrel with recessed crown), it's a steal. Similar optioned Wilson's are in the $4,000 range. Thanks again for the detailed review.

    "It is stupid to pay that much for a pistol!"...... yet we all don't wear Timex watches, drive Pintos, and live in trailers. ;) The market will dictate what will sell and what will simply be stupid. Buy what you can afford, what you WANT, and based on any personal view on value. We see the same things concerning high end ARs and precision distance rifles. "OMG you could build one yourself for a fraction of the price!!!!" Yup.... you could. And if that is what you want to do, fantastic! ;) Cheers!

    Back in 2000 I paid twelve hundred dollars for a Wilson 1911 .45 ACP Protector. That was a lot of money but the investment has paid off. In IDPA and other matches I hold my own with that pistol. I do ok with Glocks, but 1911 is KING.

Thanks for posting. I'm still leaning heavily towards getting one of these and it absolutely will NOT be a safe queen. I've never been a Wilson Combat fan, their expensive, their just a gun that I can get 3 -5 others for the price of one of those.... Said me a couple of years ago. Now I am a Wilson Combat lover! So let me tell you why.... I came across one of the EDC~X9's picked it up, looked it over dry fired it (as the Dealer told me to). Popping it up to ready shoot position and was impressed. Decided to buy one and got pissed that I would have to wait. 3 months later it came in, I picked it up bought some junk ammo took it home and shot it. The love affair with Wilson Combat and I started then. I have to eat my words Because IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! I now on 2 EDC X~9's Damn it!!! Great review thank you! This hand gun is everything you said it is.

    The recoil spring guide has a small hole in the shaft. That is for take down. Check for empty, use the slide stop to lock back the slide, pin the spring guide with an L-shaped paperclip, slow release slide to capture the L clip (slide tension now relieved), line up the now detentioned slide and push out the slide stop (should be much easier), remove slide, remove the recoil assembly as one unit, and remove spring plug and barrel. Should make it much easier to line up the slide notch and slide stop with zero spring tension. Don't have to routinely disassemble the recoil assembly for cleaning, maybe just use compressed air and one drop of oil on the shaft. I upgraded my Colt Officers Model with a similar EGW full length guide flat spring assembly with same take down hole. Came with a small L-shaped tool that can be misplaced so I made two spares out of paper clips and keep them in small parts bags.

    I recently purchased this pistol in Jan 2019, coming from striker fired pistols and my previous carry pistilol CZ P10, which I love, I can tell you the amazing difference in the incredible quality of this EDC 9X. If you want to treat yourself I would highly recommend this pistol! It was a year of long decision making process for me with massive research into this pistol to justify the investment. I carry this everyday and have NO regrets! Wilson spared no expense in the manufacturing of this pistol.

    I love Wilson Combat and in fact I'm getting a Classic 5" 1911 in the next 6 months but I couldn't help but chuckle when they said they were using the Glock 19, a $500 gun, as the one they were using as a benchmark. For something comparable I have a CZ75 compact, or if you're looking to save money a Turkish built Tristar C100. It's a $329 Aluminum frame, Glock 19 sized gun with a 14 round capacity. The ergonomics are awesome and it looks amazing

    I have been researching and have been trying to educating myself on fire arms, for past, at least 3 years for what is best, for reliability, accuracy and dependability, etc? Although, there are lot of good brand names out there, this 9mm, by far is the most impressive that I have seen so far. It's seems to be the Mercedes of fire arms if you will ! If you want quality, then you have to pay the price! Very simple. That said, of course, it has lot to do with who is giving the review presentation in a very clear and concise manner; and certainly this review was no exception. "When the euphoria of LOW PRICE long forgotten, the taste of poor quality long remains". Thank you.

      Here is a good article on the STI Guardian 2011 www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/03/jon-wayne-taylor/gun-review-sti-guardian-9mm-1911/
      If, I were to get a 1911 that would be one, that I'd consider.

    I've only had the opportunity to shoot a Wilson 1911 once. It was the sweetest shooting pistol I've experienced. IMHO, yes, they are worth it.

    @sootch00 got my hands on some Wilson combat handguns the other day and WOW! Quality is second to none. I was very impressed with the quality and just suction/magnetic comfort ability that the gun feels in your hand(s). I highly recommend that you get your hands on one of these and feel the quality. I didn’t get to shoot them but I would consider a Wilson build in the future. Master craftsmanship makes a difference; especially for those that are serious about their carry and the deployment/functionality of their protection weapon during combat/mitigation deployment. Thanks for the great video!

    Great detailed video of a work of art. Like others, I just don't understand why everyone feels they have to tip their cap to a G19. Most G19 buyers could never afford this firearm and Wilson buyers are not thinking "should I get the Wilson or the Glock?" Even in the Hickok Sphinx SDP review he compares it to a G19. No comparison whatsoever. Yes, the G19 is popular but only because of reliability and simplicity, it's inferior to firearms like the Wilson ans Sphinx in every other way. Thanks again for the video.
