The collaboration between BAND-MAID and The Warning on "Show Them" had its roots in 2022 when the two bands met for the first time at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. The Warning, long-time admirers of BAND-MAID, connected with them backstage, and the idea of collaborating began to take shape.
In December 2023, Kanami, BAND-MAID’s guitarist, sent The Warning a rough demo for "Show Them." Kanami aimed to venture into new musical territory, crafting a song that would bring out fresh aspects of both bands’ styles. Miku, BAND-MAID’s rhythm guitarist, worked on the lyrics with The Warning, blending ideas from both groups to refine the song’s message.
The collaboration initially unfolded through Zoom meetings and shared drafts, a unique process for both bands. However, the real breakthroughs came in June 2024, when The Warning visited Japan. Working in person allowed the bands to fine-tune the track together, despite the challenges of language and cultural differences. Both groups contributed ideas that stayed true to their individual sounds while pushing creative boundaries. The song was performed live in Tokyo, featuring all eight members of BAND-MAID and The Warning on stage.
If you are interested in behind-the-scenes content, The Warning documented their experience in Japan in their vlog "Our First Time in Japan with Band-Maid," offering a closer look at how the collaboration came together and the camaraderie between the two bands.
Yup, they all did a fantastic job. Definite ear worm. For a couple of add ons, there is a video on PRS Japan where Dany & Kanami talk guitars. & The Warning has a vlog of their time with Band-Maid on their channel.
"A musical conversation"-what an incredible quote! They might have faced challenges communicating with words, but music became their true language, their bridge to understanding each other.
Great reaction, I read somewhere the bass solo at the end is a nod to Ale's at the end of Survive.
Very nice reaction bro. 🤘
My 2 favorite rock bands in the world!! I've seen the Warning 3 times live now and for sure you and your friends will have a great time. I'm still waiting for BAND-MAID to come to Canada, hopefully later this year. I predict we will have more BAND-MAID/The Warning collabs as Dany has already said she would love to do it again but next time in Spanish in Mexico. cheers
Great reaction, thanks very much. ❤✌🤘⚡🔥
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song. Me & GF flew 6,000 miles from oHio to Japan!
We spent 10 days in Japan. We stayed 5 days in Kyoto & Tokyo each with day trips to Osaka & Himeji. Was an amazing concert & trip!
Was an experience we both will cherish forever! Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too!
Both bands are friends & fans of each other. BTW - there's a behind the scenes video of this collab & concert on The Warning's channel
Great reaction as always! Thanks for supporting these two great bands!
Good job. Thank you!
I think you got it about the fan crossover. Fun collab of the bands and good showcase for each, even though they each can write better songs on their own, this was a great combo. Glad you got around to reacting to it.
Two world class bands jamming together and, from the behind the scenes video, having a ton of fun doing so!
Two of the best female bands of the moment... together and collaborating with each other to highlight all their musicians. Saiky and Dany amazing voices.
If you love the warning and Band Made, you need to check out Missioned Souls, a family band of one son and three daughters ages 10-15. They are opening for two 80s rock bands in Manila next month Steelheart and white lion. Check out their cover of band mades Bestie or Led zeppelin whole lotta love or Foo Fighters Everlong or Offspring Gone away……..they have many many classic rock covers Journey Bon Jovi Muse etc etc IMO they r the best kids rock band in the world today
Ice the drummer is 10 and his three sisters (12/14/15) play lead, rhythm and bass guitars
Friends having fun, I love it. The bass ending may be a homage to The Warning song, Survive, which ends in that fashion. 🤓
🕊️💚⚡
I'm really looking forward to your show blog!
I am looking forward to making it! I have quite a few shows to go to this year and I am going to make a video about each one 😁
Thanks Bx2🎉
🤘🏻⚡️🎀🔥
Glad your mom’s going to see The Warning.
She is very excited about it! 😁
Not my favourite thing as I feel that The Warning get a bit swallowed up in this. Dany's sings a bit too much like the BM singer and the others don't really get a great look in. Having said that it has served both bands well introducing new audiences to both.
From Japan
That's what many fans felt. Fans of both bands felt that this was a little different from theirs, and that they had a better song. Composer Kanami wrote this song because she wanted member to take on a new challenge that was different from either of the songs but had that flavor. The song was completed with input from The Warning. As always, the more you listen to it, the more fascinating it becomes, and it shines even more when played live.
