How to use an ink converter or fountain pen converter is an excellent question! Platinum produces the famous platinum preppy fountain pen - a brilliant budget fountain pen option. They also produce 'Carbon Black' ink - which is a very water fast ink - but expensive to buy in cartridge form.
Ink converters, also known as fountain pen converters, allow us to use almost any ink in our fountain pen - no just the branded ink cartridges that platinum provide for us!
That's right, it's really easy to use any other ink.
This is not just cheaper, it's also better for the environment.
There is, of course, a catch - you must make sure the ink you want to use is fountain pen safe - we'll discuss this and give a common example of an ink to avoid in this video.

I'm a fan of the TWSBI eco pen. It's reasonably priced and doesn't require a converter. It stores the ink right in the barrel of the pen.
I also have a Lamy Safari with the converter, which I also enjoy. ❤

Toby, would you trust using Platinum Carbon Black ink on a rather expensive Pelikan fountain pen?
