Your story at 17:24 is so powerful. It does get scary when you realize you can do it - you just have to take the step of faith and make it happen! We made the decision last year to travel in the RV and it was the best decision we have ever made. It has strengthened our family more than anything else has. I think it was Eleanor Roosevelt that said, “Do one thing that scares you every day.”
You are, by far, the best channel I subscribe to. You are personable, transparent (as much as anyone can be on youtube... let's be honest: editing is magic, but you deliver wonderful content and manage to keep videos feeling "real"), intelligent and funny. You seem like incredibly genuine people who I would enjoy dinner with. Somehow, I feel like you truly enjoy your lives, and that is refreshing. Just want to say "thank you" and bless you in 2019.
I totally agree with giving kids responsibility. We are with in 6 months of full time but since the g-kids have been out of diapers they have joined us on our summer vacation for 3 weeks at a time in our tent, then pop-up, then camper and now Airstream. We would show them the first 2 days on the road what their job was and then off they went. It made them so confident! They were so serious about the firewood, the jacks, the water hose, watching the surge protector, purging water lines of air. Not to mention when you run into other RVer's they had something to add to the conversation because we all have stories! Thanks for the channel!
Hiiii!! Just did my first RV Trip with my immediate family and I had a blast, I went to so many places in my State of Florida that I didn’t know existed! I learned a lot such as RVing not that complicated (I did watch a lot of RUclips videos to get the general idea of what comes with RVing, a Class C is too big for me to drive so I will rent a Class B next time, loved all the helpful apps you guys recommend as they came in handy, learned who will not be invited on the next RV Trip-I’ll stick with my like minded relatives for a peaceful experience, and I loved the freedom of RVing. I don’t plan to retire within the next 10-20 years (I’m very young) but I now have this goal in mind and I Thank You Guys so much for planting this seed in my mind that will slowly grow into my dreams! I’m excited for the future technologies with Class B RV’s, and I’m now looking to buy a used Class B RV and some land to call my own. Thank You Guys! Love Watching Your Adventures and you guys take awesome footage! God Bless You and All Your Loved Ones!!
Totally agree with you about not making reservation, example: Leaving Alabama for Louisiana, told fellow campers, we’re going to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras, we were told “you’ll never get in anywhere”, arriving in N. O. we called KOA, they said we only have one night for you, so toke it. Checking in at around 8:00 pm the lady said, oh! We could give you two nights, yeah! We ended spending 8 days and enjoyed the Mardi Gras. Florida, all is booked, we called this small Campground south of Miami, we were looking for a month, they said only two weeks available, toke it. We loved the place, finally got it a month, than moving once we got two more months. So many examples and yes some place they only had a few days and we were happy to leave. We found making reservation toke away our freedom. Good video 👍
great video, we have a 38' diesel pusher, we kept our home in FLA for a home base in the winter, travel 6 - 8 months in spring/summer/fall, we encourage everyone to get out and travel while you are able, we love you kids
Kids responsibilities: you guys gave me a great idea! Our 5 year old's "job" in the RV this summer will be to take out the trash & recycling every day. Once we show her where the dumpsters are, she is totally capable of doing this little task. We also use Lysol wipes in the RV, so that's a good job for little hands too.
We are not full time rv (yet) but we take our rv to visit family just because of having our own space because of different Routines (wake up, coffee, naps, bed time, etc). It makes the family visits better ;)
Thank you for all your advises. We are french canadian and we are a family of five. We left two months ago to travel fulltime. You are our main inspiration for all this project!
Finally getting ready for the road. Bought a Toyota Sequoia and then an Imagine 2600rb. WE appreciate all the info and your honesty in learning from mistakes. We'll be on the road this spring.
Wow, ‘the dream got small enough that it was up to US….The choice is now ours.’ Oooh my goodness, that is where we find ourselves. I agree; it is scary feeling. All the previous excuses are gone. Now what? Are we really going to jump / pull the proverbial trigger? Thanks for sharing! Keep it coming!
You are really inspiring in any way - one feel more active just by watching you. You are so sweet and kind and good at explaining and doing things. Thank you very much for all your inspiring videos. You are just so cool!
Thanks for another great video! Merry Christmas to all of you! I give my little one, 5 years old, her own chores for set up and take down. She, gets the level out and let's me know when its level. Sets her chair out. We carry a citronella plant and she loves getting that out. puts the legos out for that stabilizers. Helps with the rug and big chairs. Of course her part will grow as she grows. That is a really good point about safety and 1 doing all of certain parts!
Great video. Now I know why you were not at the CC regional park the other day when I rode through. Keep up the good work. I love your comment about your kids driveway when you get older. When we built our first House we made sure the driveway was long enough to accommodate my Grandparents motorhome. It was greatly appreciated. At that time both grandparents traveled around the country in motor homes. The driveway fit both their rigs. That was 30 + years ago.
That’s great that you talk about possible dangers associated with RVing. In the aviation world Threat and Error Management (TEM) is critical to safety. Identify the threat and make a defense. Checklists, post-it notes, talking out loud with the person your working with so they know your intentions, or asking what someone else thinks about a threat rather than going it alone and being wrong are all good defenses. Always develop a defense to known treats, and correct errors when they happen. The treats could be driving/towing an RV in weather beyond your comfort level, driving at night when you’re too fatigued. Threats are not the same for everyone. When someone is new to RVing, there could be more threats than seasoned full timers may have. Driving away from a campsite with shore power still plugged in is embarrassing at the least or very electrifying at the worst. Safe travels. Cheers
Great information. Monday's with Mom cracked me up! We live in our 21' travel trailer that turned out to be actually 19' of actual living space. That is home to me and I love knowing where everything is. There's not much randomness and it's super easy to keep it clean. We also stay in timeshare condos and right now we are house/pet sitting in a lovely condo in our home town. I work so much more to keep the condos clean because I clean as I go and now there's so much many more surfaces to wipe, sweep, and declutter. I love them both for very different reasons. Today I'm missing nature. In the trailer I see and hear the birds. I see and feel the wind. Never thought I'd miss the wind; however, a storm came through while we've been in the condo and I felt like I missed out on the experience of the changes brought by wind, rain and eventually snow since we are well insulated both from nature's sounds and temperature fluctuation.
I’m looking forward to getting my RV because of holidays. I have two cats and two dogs and traveling to family for the holidays means a variety of planning for their care. With an RV, I can make many more family holidays. I can’t wait. 😊👍🏻
I am an engineer, and have worked remote from any office for 10 years. Sometimes I have to go to a client's office, but that is relatively rare. It is important to be connected, though!
Always enjoy Sunday nights and watching KYD! You both are very inspirational! I have a new saying for you! Think the dream! Plan the dream! Live the dream! I am still in the dreaming stage, but never say never! I never owned an RV, but I am doing a lot of research now! Maybe one day! Need to find something the wife will enjoy! Happy wife, happy life! Merry Christmas and looking forward to what 2019 brings.
I'm a little late on this but I have been crazy busy lol. My husband and I are talking over going full time in our RV as we are so much happier when in the RV we have so many questions so hopefully this video will answer some of those questions. I love you guys you are always so entertaining and funny keep up the good work !!
Loved the setting, concept, mood of this video! Sat in my living room with my tea and felt like i was in the same room with you guys having this conversation! Im just a huge fan and love every single video!!❤
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for taking us along on your travels. We've followed your adventures since the beginning and look forward to seeing what's next!
Can't wait for Season 6. Excellent advice at 17:15 regarding having the means and ability to do something, but having the fear to do it. Looking back to 2012-2015 when I was not working full time, and was making decent side income, I decided to move across WA State to Spokane. I sold my house and bought another one, because that's what's drilled in to us as we grow up - own a home. I totally kick myself now for not "seeing the light". I should have hit the road and traveled and not rushed in to buying a house after selling my old one on the west side of WA. I TOTALLY had the means to support myself if I had decided to travel, because both the truck and RV had been paid off several years prior. It was a blatant case of "doing what I had always done" (being in the daily rut, needing to own a home) and a partial case of not thinking ahead. Now it's a case of fear since I am working full time (love the job) and have medical insurance and all the benefits that go with a full time job. Overcoming the FEAR is a HUGE roadblock to following one's dream(s). Making the dream attainable is a huge step towards making it happen. In several of your prior episodes you mention making it attainable by "using what you have". In your case, you were already several steps ahead by having a work at home income source, plus you had the truck already and just needed an RV. Making the dream ATTAINABLE is probably the easiest step!!
You're right. What people can't see is the years of preparation for us to become location independent. It reminds me of the saying, "The 14 year overnight success" :) Nice job making it happen.
@@KeepYourDaydream I kind of got inspired to do more traveling when I stumbled across a RUclips channel of someone that has a similar RV to me. He sold his house and moved in to a travel trailer, then sold it and downsized to a truck camper. The inspiration from him (and even more from your channel), combined with the realization that I had become "married to my house and the yard work and maintenance" made it obvious that I am getting nowhere fast. Time is the most precious thing we have. The yard work will be there tomorrow, there's time for it later. We have to take time to enjoy life NOW, not later.... and what I was doing was focusing on the yard work now, and enjoying life later. My 9 year old truck only has 58,xxx miles on it. That tells you how little I used it in the 9 years I've owned it.
Thank you! We have been following for over a year and just got our truck and rig. We have dream boards, and although the final product was nothing like the pictures, bye, Felicia! We are out to see beyond our vision. Sticks and bricks in PHX, we'll be back next winter!! Be safe!
We aren’t full time rv yet but 2 of the kids live in homeowner associations that we can’t even park on the street for a visit! Guess they have to visit us at the nearest rv park😂
Awesome presentation! It’s always inspiring watching the two of you bounce off of each other! You have a fantastic relationship and set a great example for people! You also offered some very good information and different ways to look at situations. You have a big responsibility raising a family and you show some very unique ways to go about that on the road! I look forward to the day that I can apply the knowledge I acquired from KYD!!! Thanks to both of you, Marc & Trisha! It feels like watching family!! Lauri
I Love You guys ... You two are so cute together.. You make me wanna Hit the road, asap...Maybe when my hubby gets well enough after bypass surgery, we will, We have been married 44 yrs.. Can't wait till we get to do some RVing again .. My daydream is to go RV Living.. Happy Holidays Y'all.
Super informative! We do have a couple of Questions. 1. How long is the "Season" time out on the road so to say, then how long do you recharge, refit, and resupply before going back out? We assume from what we've seen, the valley is "Base". 2. What's the "safe" or "security" lag between videos, your formula? I'm sure that you're much more comfortable editing now than in the beginning. So how long to crank out one of your gems? You have provided all of us so much "vicarious" experience! What treasures! OLT
A "season" is really more a theme than time or number of episodes. US, MEX, West Coast, Southwest, AK and ??? Some are short and some are long, but we usually regroup between seasons and take care of our obligations at home. We like the videos lagging for safety, but also for creativity. More time = more options.
Tim Ferris’s book 4 hour workweek and Chris Guillebeau book side hustle and both their podcasts are a major inspiration for me. Also look into the podcast the RV entrepreneur by Heath and Alyssa. Great stuff.
I really enjoy the beautiful scenery in your videos and i wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year
Merry Christmas guys! Great video. And as Carson moves along with his aviation interests, don’t forget Embry-Riddle Prescott! I graduated Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach and had the best four years of my life! The pilot shortage will be big and he will have a great career. Tomorrow I will start the final trip of my career as a corporate pilot flying a Gulfstream V. I’m jealous of Carson. I had so much fun. But now it’s time to start some serious ground travel in my Airstream!
Ironically, my 3-year-old loves putting down grandma's stabilizers for her and is excellent at crawling under the fifth wheel to pick up the wood blocks.
Great video. Showed my wife some of your Alaskan trip. She wants to go for 6 weeks. When we head out our son will stay in our home and if she likes the trailer enough we are planning Florida for 4 months. Nice cabin can hardly wait for reno videos. Merry Christmas. to you
Hey Guys, really enjoy all the vid's and really happy to see the Cabin came together! Wishing you a very happy and prosperous New Year. Hope to see you on the road sometime soon! Cheers from Montreal...Mario.
We have a tent trailer When I Grow it'll swere 4 + 8 and they always each had their own job after we showed them the first time they did everything with supervision of cars
Merry Christmas to the KYD family. Learned lots from your videos and hope to meet you one day in the future on the road. Safe travels from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. Cheers!!!
Again, this is a VERY GOOD review of what an RV life is all about! I really think that you are the best on the full time RV experiment at the moment - always on subject, always pertinent, always fun! Great work Mark & Trish! Can't wait to follow your next adventure! We are making notes of it all - 2022 is the target, and money will not be an object ;-) Happy New Year 2019! All the best and safe travels. Rémi from Montréal.
Robert! Yes, you're right. We were both there. I thought of you this month when we mailed all our hats from Williams. I wondered if you would see the KYD logo on all the boxes stacked in the back. Hope all is well.
Thank you both for all the great insight of full time rv’ing and content! Hope your family has a great Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year!! Can’t wait for “our” 😋 next adventure !! Take care!
Great video and wonderful information!! Really enjoyed your Alaska videos for season 5 and I’m looking forward to secret season 6. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!🎊🎆🎈🎄🎁🎉😊🇺🇸
Must admit in the house we kind of started them off early with doing chores our dishes were in the lowest compartments and that way the girls could always set the table
Question: With the market being flooded of RV's. One dealer put an update that most of their units were sold, unit on order from factory. Can you still find places to stay and are you making reservations now or are you still (no Reservation) policy. hope to find a rig to start our new life in as we adjust to Full time RV, Thanks John
Just bought my first RV and because of KYD I consider myself an intermediate. Ty!! Just wondering if I can buy/download your videos. Looking mainly for setting up, newbie, important essentials and tire info

I have to say the best part of your video's are the interaction between the two of you. So kind and funny.
I know right?! like they read each other's brains lol. love it.
I agree with this. A great balance and you don't talk over each other. Makes it easy to watch/listen and you pretty entertaining. :)

Excellent advice at 17:15 regarding having the means and ability to do something, but having the fear to do it.

Feel the Fear and do it Anyway!
I love that you mentioned TropicalMBA. Great podcast on location independent lifestyle.
Thank you Mark and Trish! You guys are awesome! Appreciate the transparency in your learning!
Merry Christmas to all of you! Have enjoyed all of your videos. Would have liked to see the cabin remodel.
Merry Christmas, you all are wonderful people. Thank you.
Y’all are a great team - a very underestimated and integral need when living small.
Thank you! We have been following for over a year and just got our truck and rig. We have dream boards, and although the final product was nothing like the pictures, bye, Felicia! We are out to see beyond our vision. Sticks and bricks in PHX, we'll be back next winter!! Be safe!
That's funny....the slope of your kids driveways when they grow up will determine how much they love you! A true RV'r joke! 😂😂😂
I loved that one too :-D
That alone was worth a thumbs up for this video lol.
Merry Christmas 🎄
We aren’t full time rv yet but 2 of the kids live in homeowner associations that we can’t even park on the street for a visit!
Guess they have to visit us at the nearest rv park😂
If they buy a home at all. They might buy an RV!
Great ideas guys , I will use my aviation background to fuel my family’s adventure! Debt free 😁👍🏻
Lauri

Great information Mark and Trisha glad you guys have a home base in Arizona happy holidays.
Merry Christmas Marc & Trish! Great video. Making plans can be a part pooper, we agree. Hope to meet you in person in our travels.
Excellent Q & A. You both and your Children are the BEST! Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Take care and be safe.
Good ones. We were on Heath & Alyssa's podcast heathandalyssa.com/rve-103-keep-daydream-marc-tricia/
Merry Christmas to the KYD family and followers!
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 KYD Family!
Lots of good info. Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New Year. Can’t wait to see the new season.
Merry Christmas. to you

2022 will be a good year! 👍Way to make it happen.
Love watching you every Sunday!! Merry Christmas!!
We at the Post Office refer to "junk mail" as "Bread and Butter mail"
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks again for the great videos.
I think I saw Trich at Frys today. Looked to be getting food at the deli. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Robert the ol mailman.
Take care!

Merry Christmas 🎄🎁, love my Sunday KYD ❤️
Question: With the market being flooded of RV's. One dealer put an update that most of their units were sold, unit on order from factory. Can you still find places to stay and are you making reservations now or are you still (no Reservation) policy. hope to find a rig to start our new life in as we adjust to Full time RV, Thanks John
