- Adam Lambert is the first singer that really got me into American Idol in the first place. I was attracted by his wide vocal range which is so solid and stable even in the high notes.

that was the last season I watched American Idol… after Adam had not won the title because of his "different interests" I realized this show is not about find true talent any longer… he was THE BEST ever walked that stage
I haven't been ABLE to watch it since the season that Adam was on. In a way I am glad that he didn't win. How often do Idol winners turn into real stars? A few, but not many. Most disappear rather quickly to never be heard from again. Adam is doing well in his career. He ruined Idol for me, though, because no one else will ever measure up.
Thats the problem when you open it up to the public to vote, the Voice, X Factor, America's got talent and these shows repeated overseas all end up with the most talented losing and someone else who is ok winning, not very often the most deserving person wins. Would be better if it was 50% public vote, 50% judges vote.

@@cko1005 I watch, read, analyze and wonder why solo he is so underrated. So many great songs should be a hit. Something's on the way. I was saying 2020 will be Adam's year. Now we have to wait. He has cancelled Velvet tour because of other 'commitments". Hope something big is coming....
This was in my opinion his best performance during his idol run. The way he tweaked the song made it incredibly hard to sing with barely time to catch a breath between the high notes, and yet he smashed it through like it was nothing. He started off slow, then in the middle brought waves of pinnacle after pinnacle, and in the end perfectly rounded up as he sang "crying". His stage presence, body language, emotion everything was on point. Just incredible.

There is something to be said about versatility. The young man has a voice so technically perfect, that his choices in music are unlimited. Anyone can 'scream' into a microphone (I can name several, who've made a success of it); anyone with moderate vocal talent can sing a ballad; and, anyone with vocal power can deliver a 'powerful' song. This young man can do all, and then some.
What he has cannot be learned from a voice coach. He was born with the chops.
You sure know music and real talent. Do u remember his dad saying Adam used to scream non-stop as a baby for first year and he believes that is how Adam got his voice.
Um.... lots of vocal coaches these days who sing rock teach those screams and there are singers that can deliver them with emotion well. If you listen to rock or maybe metal, people like Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford and Axl Rose can do those screams.
Adam was told he could not sing when he was younger. I met him at his concert and had backstage passes at the Star in Singapore. He said that he had vocal coaching. He inspired me to get back up on my feet.
The way he emotes was through stage experience and life experience where he had to play a multitude of roles

I do remember his father saying that! I'm telling you, he was a prodigy from day-one. I'm a fan of a guitarist, Joe Bonamassa.
The same thing that applies to Mr. Lambert also applies to Mr. Bonamassa. Joe Bonamassa started playing guitar at the age of four.
"He moved past me" (father/pro guitarist) at the age of seven. At ten, he played with the great B. B. King. A 'music teacher' had nothing to do with Joe Bonamassa's talent.
Adam Lambert is in a league of his own, and I knew it the moment - the tryout moment - I heard him sing.

You make very good points. Vocal coaches can do a LOT with the instrument of 'voice.' They cannot, however, teach range, pitch or empower the vocal cords beyond their limits.
Vocal coaches teach breathing, timing, and execution, given what they have to work with. Barbra Streisand, e.g. had a voice coach.
Whomever told Mr. Lambert he couldn't sing, had no 'ear.'
And *blush* I do not listen to metal or hard rock. I don't like screaming, I prefer pitch-perfect vocalizations, and talent that can move from stop to full throttle on the turn of a dime.

Adam Lambert is better than any singer he covers. There are few voices in the world today that can stand on the stage with this young man. He is pure talent, ever pound and ounce.

Adam enchanted me in 2009 and continues still today. Adam didn't win this season, but he won the world. Adam is really my favorite singer. He didn't need to win. And honestly...if he won...he would have been pigeon-holed...just like they tried pigeon-holing Kelly Clarkson. Adam Lambert's 2nd place status enabled him to be free. And it isn't like he needed the win after all...look how much success he was able to have afterward...it's quiet now but right after Idol.....he was EVERYWHERE! His music was always on the damn radio! American idol became a popularity contest. Kris Allen who won Season 8 was the down home, cute, boy next door. As a result, millions voted for him who don't the first thing about who is or who isn't talented, but just who was attractive to them. So as a result, the contestant with the most talent ended up 2nd. However, since Adam didn't win, he wasn't bound to a contract he would have had to sign as the winner. Allowing Adam to do what he wanted. He had freedom that he wouldn't have had as the winner. He was also so very humble. And it's true, he was the ABSOLUTE BEST SINGER EVER, ON AMERICAN IDOL PERIOD!!! NO CONTEST!!!

some tabloid talked about him being gay before the finale. It had a huge impact on the voting, even though it was obvious from the beginning, large portions of the american audience are too stupid and scared to even think about those things.
So what, that was one performance. EVERY performance of Adam's was great.

Nour Cobain You shouldn't be disappointed because it isn't what he loved.. A person can't please everyone, they have to do what makes them happy. I agree, he sounds better when he sings rock but he did pretty well nonetheless and his voice still sounds beautiful.

I mean when the "arguably" most amazing voice on the planet doesn't reach its full potential that is just....hard for me to be ok with. I'm hoping his next album has at least more of a rock influence. I actually loved his first album - there were some rock vocals on there. I'm sure he can come up with a genre blend that satisfies his need to be a mainstream success (of course he does - that's the way the business is) but also his awesome ability as a rock vocalist...... fingers crossed.

@Jj Bohr Adam and Freddie. Both are incredible vocalists, but each in their own style. Adam beyond the reach of high notes live, is great at making "Riffs" and "Overdrive". Brian and Roger have said in interviews that even Freddie would be amazed and jealous of Adam's vocal abilities. They knew Freddie very well and know what they are talking about.

Because I did many years of singing lessons, and I don't have Adam's talent ... But both are wonderful. I love them both. Freddie and Adam. There is no need for comparisons ...Be fine. 😉

I agree with you when you say that no one can come close to the original,but I disagree completely with the rest of your comment. This guy has mastered his voice in a level that very few people reach. His technique is outstanding. He plays his voice as if it was an instrument, the versatility he's achieved is one of a kind. He makes his voice seem limitless. He's one of the greatest vocalists I've ever seen. Have you seen him fronting Queen? Unbelievable. The crowd chorused his name every night.
He is young and sexy as f word. He blew my mind and had my female hormones jumping all over the place. His voice and singing was of the charts here. Like he was all ready a professional rock star with a real performance. His musical theater background and that VOICE set him apart from the Idol kids. Beginning of a legend here.

Adam didn’t win because the voters stuffed the ballot for the inferior contestant. It’s not the show’s fault, it’s the other contestant’s base....Just like the Presidential race, the better leader doesn’t always win....good thing for Adam he finished 2nd. The winner ended up in oblivion and Adam has skyrocketed to fame
