Awesome Video! It took me about 2.5 hours, but I was able to get through it and it works great! The home button works as it did before. Defiantly not a repair you want to rush through - take your time and you should do fine. The biggest challenge I had was getting all the broken glass off, there were many small shards. Also, be careful with the LCD. It is hard to work without getting something on it, and a bit of a challenge to clean.

That was marvelous, very helpful. One note not meant to be discouraging is that anyone who's ever tried to work at such a delicate level knows how easy it is to do things like: lose a screw, foul the tiny tape, etc. In other words, beware of clumsiness. THANK YOU!

PROBLEMON!

It looks important!? I did get the touch screen & home lock to work... Apple puts the sticky goo under the 4 LCD screw points so that they create an obstacle that only highly skilled techs can pass without breaking the LCD. Plain and simple. They'd say "Oh we put that there to add structural rigidity" or something, but there's at least 1 high skill obstacle with every screen repair for every iDevice that is designed to cause such a negative memory when the novice fails and indeed breaks their phone that they never attempt to repair their own device again.

    • @UbergeeksBiz

Could it be too for some warranty bull crap that they can use as an argument If it’s been scrapped off it’s their proof that someone else opened it and did or attempt to repair the such and such will not be cover. Maybe the black goo it’s their “seal” do not tamper with

Overall very good video. One thing I'd like the stress though is to not move the digitizer around, or at least try to keep it from moving. I stupidly moved the by accident, after connecting the ribbon cables. It takes very little stress to tear these ribbon cables like they are paper. I broke these cables and had to buy a new digitizer. It was a good lesson.

If you've ever worked on an iPad mini you'll realize the glue on the corners arnt so bad haha to remove the lcd on this model I took a metal spatula and on the sides of the lcd next to the screw holes you'll see a foam cushion between the lcd and frame. Put your spatula right next to that foam insert and ever so slightly apply upward pressure using the frame to pry it up. Go nice and slow and it will eventually pop out.

    1. There was already adhesive on your digitizer. Placing more adhesive, you would cause the glass to not sit flush with the bezel. Also you should clean the inside bezel with alcohol and then coat with a 3M adhesive primer.
    2. Before disconnecting or cutting any cables you should separate the battery contacts with a playing card so that there is no energy to the board. Even though the device is not on, energy is transferring to the board and you may damage components. Battery should all be always be disconnected first.
    3. You should be very careful touching the LCD or the inside of the digitizer glass as those are often difficult to clean.
