Wow - I've been using OneNote as far back as it has been around. I rarely pick up anything from tips videos, but I never knew about the brackets for links, and the idea to make an image the background to avoid my annotations moving around is genius.
Fantastic! I have been using OneNote for years, searched other OneNote tips and videos and I have only just learned some new great tips with this one! I had NO idea about the double bracket linking before. And making an image set to background so you can write over it and not having the markups get lost, is brilliant! Thank you so much!
Instead of full screen and pin one note window, there is a better option called "Dock to desktop". With this option, it's a lot easier to arrange other windows and there is also a shortcut for it "Ctrl + Alt + D".
Very helpful tips, thank you! As a 15 year user of OneNote, I’m always looking for advanced tips and tricks to really get the most usability and value out of OneNote. It would be great if you would post more of these. Thanks again!
Andy, this video is a game changer! I’ve been using OneNote for about 18 months - with these tips it will improve my efficiency, thank you. Now to watch the others!
I have been recommended this video 50 times and i only clicked to hope it goes away, i dont know why the algorithm decided it was gonna recommend me one note tutorials all of a sudden but clicking on this video will likely devour me into a black hole of one note videos
Haha CaserDJT. I think commenting on this video will take you further down the OneNote rabbit hole since you've now shown engagement. The algorithm has you. 😁
Tip #1 I never knew about and it's perfect! Tip #2 I roughly knew about and can see how that could be useful. With Tip #5 (and 2 maybe 1), you could use OneNote as a cheap CRM database!! Anyone else agree or disagree? Thanks Andy for this video!
Wow, just finished watching your video. Every single one of your tips was relevant and useful. Your presentation pace was right on point. I'm a subscriber now, Thank you
Although there are other videos with much of the same information, you have done an extraordinary job of producing a top quality video. Well organized. Great links. Perfect level of detail. Well done!
my solution to annotation is: open an empty ppt, and dump all images in there, as well as in your one note. replace them when you have time to do annotation. usually, you ideas won't be lost if you finish it right after the meeting (like 2-hour meeting).
Very useful tips. Did not realise these features existed. Will help me move from using Onenote as a note taking tool to making it a complete repository.
OneNote is the app I use the most & it has been that way for quite some time. I consider myself a knowledgeable power user, but knew only about templates among the tips described here. Humbled again! These are fantastic tips. Thank you for your tutorial!
Two tips that are awesome - double brackets saves a lot of time instead of copy and paste and the always on top. These were clearly described and easy to understand. First time viewer and now subscriber.
Very much enjoy your information. Thank you for sharing. Suggestion, turn off the background noise, aka music. It is beyond me why RUclips content creators think it necessary playing music over their voice. Certainly during a business/client meeting when the presenter begins talking nobody would consider playing music, it would be extremely rude. Also, many folks have hearing difficulties. Video background noise (music) becomes a considerable annoyance for their understanding the speaker and their enjoyment of an otherwise excellent presentation.
Hi Ric. Thanks for the feedback. You'll notice that most of my recent videos have no background music during the talking segments. Learning as I go. Appreciate you watching. Thank you.
@@AndyPark365 Hi Andy, Thank you for your polite reply. Yes, having now watching your other videos I notice the lack of background music; greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
Nice! I never knew to use Templates. The To Do List is basic, but I love it, and applied it to my notebooks. All 5 tips were great! I liked and subscribed.
Excellent tips, especially the keyboard shortcuts. I liked the way you explained the tip and navigated as well as showing how it works. I'll have to watch the video a few more times and practice!!
Thank you for these videos, they are great. I started a new position at work and Onenote is absolutely a must for staying organized. I should also mention I had no experience with Onenote before your videos. :)
Andy, you have the best tutorials and tips to get organized - thank you so much!! I can't wait to structure my One Note so that it's for functional and organized. Do you have a tutorial on how to organize meetings, follow up emails and any documents (excel, quip, smart sheets etc) - essentially like a dynamic TOC?
Thanks Saira. I've got a few videos about organizing meetings, follow ups, etc. Unfortunately, they're not consolidated into a single video. Feel free to scan through the videos on my channel. 😁 Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed your video. Your tips are informative and your explanations are really easy to follow. I even appreciated the background music. I will use these tips and share the video with colleagues.
Hi Amy - I'll have to make a video about OneNote using a tablet soon... Will add to future ideas. 😀 For taking notes while watching a video, I think the best way is to just enable split screen. I know you can do this on an iPad. Not sure about other tablets...
Thanks Andy. I was ignoring OneNote for several years now. But recently decided to give it a try. And these tips are really good to get to the pro level. Unfortunately, I can't find that template option on the OneNote for windows 10 version
You are correct, there is no template option in the menu for Windows 10. This is one of the reasons I use the desktop version. However, in Windows 10, you can layout the page just how you like it, right-click on the page name in the navigation pane, and choose "save as default template". If you do this, every time you create a new page IN THIS SECTION the page will have the layout you saved. A bit of a workaround if you really need this feature.
My OneNote always makes new page even though I have a page with the name already. If I delete the new page, then the link works. I don't know how to fix this, but it happens consistently. When I check the web, I see that it's not just me, but lots of people report the same very annoying problem.
Yes Eyal. Just go to the HELP tab in the RIBBON, click on the HELP ICON, then search for keyboard shortcuts. They will list all key board shortcuts - nicely organized by use case.
How to delete notebooks? Searched on google, everywhere it was written to go to documents and than one note folder and delete the folder named after notebooks, but that folder is empty.
Wow - I've been using OneNote as far back as it has been around. I rarely pick up anything from tips videos, but I never knew about the brackets for links, and the idea to make an image the background to avoid my annotations moving around is genius.
Informative and useful! Plus such a clean, clearly spoken and illustrated, to the point, easy to understand, tutorial. Thank you, Andy.
Thank you! Glad you found the video informative.

Dock to desktop appear to affect all desk tops, right?

Do you have any tips for
1. Taking one note notes on tablet
2. Taking those notes while watching a video (can’t find the always on top option there)
Hi Amy - I'll have to make a video about OneNote using a tablet soon... Will add to future ideas. 😀
For taking notes while watching a video, I think the best way is to just enable split screen. I know you can do this on an iPad. Not sure about other tablets...

Quick tip for every power user: OneNote for windows 10 version is much faster and syncs much better. The desktop version is slowest
Thanks Andy. I was ignoring OneNote for several years now. But recently decided to give it a try. And these tips are really good to get to the pro level. Unfortunately, I can't find that template option on the OneNote for windows 10 version

How to make onenote forms/tables using excel data ?
This is to show raw data in a more stylished presentation.
Thanks.

Hi, great videos. Can you actually tag @ someone to a specific task?
