The Siege of Mariupol has to be the most violent battle of the 21st century. However, Bakhmut is starting to take its place. The amount of death and destruction between two formidable opponents is terrifying.

In the congo civil war over 10 million people died so i doubt that it was the most violent battle. Also there is rwandan genocide.

I'm living in Hungary, and after seeing the fact, how the Russians treated Hungary in 1956 and between 1957-1989, I can feel, what the Ukrainians inside Russian-occupied territorries have to go through day-by-day. I have been visiting Mariupol since 04.08.2022 every 2-3 weeks as a volunteer and I’m from Russia, Krasnodar city. I can say with all understanding how news and different videos today are made up - it’s at least 50% far away from the truth. At least ! Population of Mariupol now is about 200 000 local people. There are 12-13 big constructions of new big residential districts for locals who lost their appartments during spring 2022. New appartments are given them for free as a compensation. Almost all schools and kindergartens in the city are under full reconstruction and those which were finished already look very modern and developed. Huge new medicine center is under construction now there, hospital number 2 which was before - under reconstruction, hospital number 3 which was also before and quite old one - is also under full reconstruction. Absolutely new maternity hospital is under construction now and before existed maternity hospital number 2 was fully reconstructed. And many many other things. Tons of people are saying absolutely different things than this lady, many many many locals are longing to get new RU passports and 30-40-50000+ people have already gotten it,

The fact that Russia is actively demolishing the theater where 600 Ukrainian civilians died due to Russia's air strike, is heartbreaking and pathetic. They are removing the mistake that they made so they don't have to live with it. That theater is holy sacred ground now and a resting place for hundreds of Ukrainian civilians that are probably still buried there!

That Russian "Army" building is actually a newly built hospital. Built by the military corps of Engineers. Plenty of footage from inside but the AP didn't bother to interview people currently living in Mariupol.

Chertkov, reported to Grigory Potemkin on 23 February 1776 that ruins of ancient domakhas (homes) had been found in the area, and in 1778 he planned the new town of Pavlovsk. However, on 29 September 1779, the city of Marianοpol in Kalmius County was founded on the site. For the Russian authorities the city was named after the Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna.
The war is a very brutal and sad thing, but Russia is already rebuilding the city, and people are already moving into completely new and actually very pretty houses.
I haven’t heard of Americans rebuilding Vietnam, Iraq or any other place they have destroyed in the last decades, and that is what makes this conflict different.
The Americans invaded Iraq to dismantle a totalitarian regime and an tyrannical dictator which tormented its population for decades and started several wars with its neighboring countries. Russia invaded a democracy and is intentionally targeting civilians in the 21st century. Russian concrete is not enough to cover up the cracks in the heart of a man who lost lost his wife and child in the bombing of a hospital. Russia's actions are unacceptable, and the rest of the world condemns its invasion of Ukraine. It is time for the ones in favor of this vicousness to wake up.

The US Armed Forces are not allowing its reservists or active duty to volunteer at this time. Ummm…besides….he is a bit old for combat, my friend. He is a US citizen and he owes his military loyalty to the US and its policies, which are *NOT* to involve US soldiers in a conflict with Russia.
