I like the style of this video a lot. not too fast but also not wasting any useless second. very well done, thanks!
looking forward to the rest of the series, i am looking to do something similar to switch an appliance on and off, but with a light sensor instead of humidity
+TRCC hopefully this next video will help you out! Should be out Thursday or Friday.
This newbie successfully followed the video - thanks!
For others just getting your feet wet:
(1) Some USB cables will have the right connectors, but are power-only cables; they won't work. You need a cable with the data pins connected.
(2) The COM Port you need won't even be visible until you have the board connected to your PC with a good USB cable. It will likely be the highest-numbered COM port on the list.
Other than that, if you carefully follow the instructions, it should work.
This was the single most useful tip I have read. I tried 2 different USB cables and neither allowed my Windows 7 PC to recognize the WeMos D1 Mini board. Tried another after reading this and BINGO! Recognized it! The original poster should float this comment at the top of the comments.
that was hella helpful
Great Video, convinced me to buy one and try it out myself!
Rkool awesome man! It will take some paicianse if your total new to microcontrollers but there is sooo much information online. Just Google. Let me know if you have any questions!
Great Tutorial! Thanks
Thank you so much for getting me started with the wemos d1 mini and the extra instructions for setting up with the Arduino IDE the blink worked first time and the board manager loaded with all the boards added it made it just easier to get started but I downloaded the Arduino master file and dont know where it goes?
GOD BLESS YOU TOM
really good and concise video.
Thank you!
Gd job bro..... it's really helpful for me.....thankx
thank you
your camara angle looks awesome
nice, tnx!
oH MY GOD it finally works
Hello, great video! May I know where parts 2-4 are? I am a student and was assigned to make something almost similar, by using ACS 712 current sensor and relay module to turn on and off a branch circuit. Your videos will help me a lot. Thank you!!
I always need to bridge d3 and gnd in order to upload anything. Can this be changed?

Using a breadboard to hold everything well soldering...... How did I never think of that?
my wifi is esp-12F Doiting, which one should i choose in the board ?
also on the IC it written wh ch340c
Hello! I am using wemos d1 mini with a PIR sensor. Can I use a power bank to power it up? Thankyou.
can we burn bootloader on Arduino Pro micro using wemos d1 mini?
Good stuff, thanks for the tutorial!
Edit: I don't see my board coming up as a com port on my computer, any idea what could be going on there?
Thanks! Did you install the drivers for the CH340G? Make sure you restart after the install. Also try a different USB port sometimes that helps.
Restart the computer, or Arduino IDE?
Jeremy Cook's Projects both
Hmm, per your suggestion, tried that, tried different cable, port, and even a second board that I have. Not reading at all, not even as a bad USB connection. Interestingly AI_THINKER comes up as a new WiFi network.
The driver I find is actually ch341 and says "the drive is successfully pre-installed in advance!" Any input?
Jeremy Cook's Projects so it getting power and working, sounds like a driver issue. I would grab the drivers from the wemos website.
🤔 this didn't describe how to find the d1 on a network. How do you set that up?
Hi Tom, I've followed the video, and installed the microgear library (v 1.2.4) and the board by esp8266 community (v 2.7.4), but I don't have the option you selected "WeMos D1 R2 & mini". Instead of that, I have only the option "WeMos D1 R1". Could that be the problem? The led does not blink like in your video, I receive a timeout error . Thanks, Andres
Why after input that url in preferences , I got error , I have 11mb speed download pls help I'm going crazy, I tried with cmd solve to but not fix the problem please help
At 0:15, how did you add the label that follows the "FCC" marking for a few seconds? That is very neat.
Jim Happer it's called a "call out". I used. Program call Black Magic Fusion. Can be done in after effects and motion 5. The follow feature is build into the program. Took a lot longer to do than I expected.
I think the call out was worth it. Thank you for the reply and the exceptionally clear tutorials. I just used your soldering trick with the headers and it worked very nicely.
Are you still about and would be able to help us on a Wemos Development? Dennis in Virginia, USA
I am getting an error while uploading the the Blink example.
Error: failed sending 1040 bytes
espcomm_upload_mem failed
Plz let me know why this is happening.
You could have the wrong board and or speed selected. Check this out: community.ubidots.com/t/solved-resolved-error-espcomm-upload-mem-failed/479
Question, I've done the above, I now see a wemos D1 R1... no R2 ? and I'm guessing the D1 and D1 Mini is the same ?
UPDATE: ... they renamed the boards from Wemos D1 D1-Min as per your video => Lolin (WEMOS) D1 R2 & mini...
G
I have the something similar situation. I have a "WEMOS D1 mini", and the esp8266 board manager says "LOLIN(WEMOS) D1 R2 and mini" . -This does not work ! I get a timed out waiting for packet header message.
I have noob question,
qns 1) what if we solder on the other side ( face the other way)?
qns 2) both way works, why do you solder the direction you are doing?
weinfin so because of they way the shields work. The Pinout need to match up. It could work either way but you want to make sure the pins and shield pins line up.
Also could call them IO or outputs of the wemosbord
The library is listed as INCOMPATIBLE with Arduino 1.8.2
My mistake. If you have the board selection as Wemos, it will show up correctly. I didn't realise they did this in the IDE. Pretty cool.
fusionstream sweet!
how can I connect arduino with all that?
does it on d1 mini pro?
I have a mac and can't get the board to connect with the computer because I apparently need a "driver" which I installed, but it still isn't working. Nothing comes up when I go to the "port" option. Does anyone who has a mac know how to deal with this?
+Aidan Angus-Henry from my experience mac users have a little bit harder time. The chip the board uses to communicate is the ch340g. You can google "ch340g mac" and find some different answers, but it varries depending on what os you are running. Let me know how you make out.
+Innovative Tom Thanks for responding! With things like this I've always had more trouble with macs as well, I'll look into that driver, thank you!
I did have it on a mac at one point I know it works. not on the latest os though. I remember having to mess with some command line stuff. The other thing you could do is install windows on bootcamp. Windows 10 is sorta free*. You can download and run it normally, it just asks to to register it to change some of the settings. That is probably what I would do.
how Wemos D1 Mini, ESP8266 connect with arduino?
download the driver, in the IDE (arduino software)
Siêu Nhân and actual Arduino or the software?
between ASP8266 miniD1 and Arduino Uno because i want use esp8266 to send data which i had from arduino uno( data sensor) to server
i did ! between ASP8266 miniD1 and Arduino Uno because i want use esp8266 to send data which i had from arduino uno( data sensor) to server
if you do your header like you did, you will not be able to Add a oled on top
Good info Paul! I had one project in mind (my other video) for this guys so I might have been a little short sighted.
video does not even match the audio
thumbs down the video is out of date nothing hes talking about works the same as the way his is.
