Lmao as a tattoo artist myself, this is horrible advice. You should care, care a lot! Do your research, pick an artist that matches up and is stoked about the project, follow their guidelines and tip them well.

I was talking with my artist during my last session and explained I went to shops at 17, so I would have a shop picked out when I was 18, to see their artists portfolios and ask them how they sanitized stuff. He was blown away I didn’t realize how many people just wing it.

Here's real advice. You get what you pay for. Pay up, go high quality, nothing looks more shit than tats that look like they were done in prison. And triple think every tat, you have very limited space. Pick what you'll likely love tomorrow not just what you love today.

    • @abelandbailey3230

This is 100% the best advice coming from someone who got cheaper tattoos at 14 and 17 and now at 30 has 5/6 crappy tattoos they don't like. Including a cover up (says alot about me making bad choices) but I definitely wish I had saved up and got 1/2 decent tattoos instead.
Also what's popular for tattoos now will look crap and old in 10 years time. Think carefully if you're tattoos have meaning you'll less likely regret them. But above Everything is this comment get a decent tattoo artist, who knows what they are doing, and put abit of money into it after all it's permanent. If you spend money on nice clothes and getting your hair done (temporary changes) think about it the tattoo is going to be with you for the long haul. Make sure it's not shit and if you aren't happy with the way things are going say something don't let it carry on and get worse and worse!! I literally let that happen and have 2 good any roses with green leafs on my hip bone. I said I didn't want green he said I had to or it would look stupid.
So wish I'd stopped it there and then but I was silly I suppose.

My advice is, it will be on your body forever. You will love your tattoos some days and you may hate them other days. Really love your tattoo and have some sort of sentiment for it before you pull the trigger. No matter what as long as you go in knowing it has some sentiment, you'll never forget. Even if time changes and you become a different person, you can still appreciate the old version of yourself. It is painful and cost alot to remove a tattoo, however not impossible. Think about your future and careers you may find in your future or at the time. Tattoos and the contents of the tattoos, plus placement of tattoo can interfere with how people perceive you. As well as interfer with job opportunities. Keeping this in mind will help you make the choices that best suit your life style.
Personally both my hands, fingers, and feet are tattooed, as well as my neck. I only mentioned these tattoos because they are the spots most people avoid for that exact reason. I myself with tattoos can say this is indeed true for myself and my experience and you can take it as you will. Best of luck if you are thinking of getting a tattoo, I hope this was helpful.

also think through what you want, I'm young now but I remember wanting the dumbest tattoos a couple years ago for the simple reason they looked cool on someone else but I know id hate it being on my body right now, you do grow out of things and ideas so don't spontaneously get something because you like it. i have 6 tattoos that mean a lot to me and I don't regret any of them after a few years because they're more than just a cool design or a phase i went through. remember, this is permanent and will be a part of you forever so think about how you'll feel in 5, 10 or 15 years

I'm a tattoo artist and I completely understand what she is saying, but maybe you should put a bit of thought into it. Make sure you research the place you want to get it and the tattoo artists in your area. I've had so many people get tattoos in really painful places just because they didn't do their research and they would have been happy with it anywhere else. Also you get what you pay for so if you want to spend very little for a big piece then I can guarantee it's most likely going to be low quality. Choosing a tattoo is a whole other thing, and I agree with her on this part. Get whatever you want as long as it's responsible and you don't think you'll regret it in the future. It doesn't have to mean anything to you, it could just be something you think is pretty. I have so many tattoos and only one or two actually mean something to me. As long as you are okay with having something on your body forever then it's okay. If you do end up regretting it then you can get it covered up or removed. I recommend getting it covered up if it's possible because you can get some really cool cover up designs.

Also reasearch what makes a good tattoo! Really study the line work and shading and find an artist who can do it well. Allot of people think oh that looks good but when you really scrutinize it with the proper knowledge most tattoos are shit. Choose wisely.

I didn’t pay close enough attention to the design *I* gave him and noticed after getting it that one of the smaller flowers in the design looked a little weird. If I had thoroughly looked at the image before giving it to the artist I would’ve had him tweak that flower a bit. BUT instead of hating that flower I take it as a reminder of 1. I need to pay more attention with tattoos lol and 2. Nobody/nothing is perfect. The piece is absolutely beautiful even with that minor flaw. Hahah. Try to get pieces that you know you won’t regret. Artwork that has meaning to you. Also, just know that it is risky to get ink done on areas of your body that can’t be concealed by clothing, such as hands, the neck, etc. As dumb as it may be, people judge.. and you’re essentially closing many doors on yourself by not heeding that advice. It sucks to miss out on career opportunities over tattoos. I LOVE tattoos and am working on completing 2 sleeves, and I’m really wanting to get the back of my hand done as part of my left arms sleeve, but even my tattoo artist talked me out of it and convinced me to work on other areas first before making that choice, which I appreciate him doing. It’s not something you should just do on a whim. Oh, and lastly, don’t get face tattoos.. they look horrible 😂 just messing around kinda, but in MY OPINION it’s a shame when a pretty girl gets face tattoos especially. Women with tattoos are sexy as hell.. but don’t mess with the face! This chick in the video looks really good with what she has done.. It would be a shame if she inked her face. I have tattoos and piercings I don't care if my kids do it as long as they are of age and do lots of research and thinking before making the permanent decision. What u want at 18 might not be what you want at 25 or 30 so makes sure it is something they can live with.

When your justification starts with "your parents..." think more.

"your parents are probably already disappointed in you... "
This is an awful thing to say. i understand not all parents are the same but why...
Getting tattoos doesn't mean your parents are disappointed in you. its a form of art and Expression *almost* everyone gets 1 tat. DONT "Just do it," You will regret it of you don't take the time to read up about tattoos, thinking about a design or anything like that..
im disappointed in this video tbh
Cover ups aren't always an option and getting them removed is thousands of dollars and you may never be able to put a tattoo there again. so think before you do anything

I had 9 tattoos done , the first when I was 16 and the last when I was 25. I loved them and was proud of them..but at 37 now , I really regret it. Shes very young and good looking now , but wait until she reaches her 40s and 50s , theres a very high probability she will regret some if not ill of them.
