19:11 That's awesome man!!! I didn't think anybody would be so relaxed on his boat to fall asleep while trolling Thanks for the tutorial! Wondering if the same setup would work in WA waters!
Just found your channel through RUclips suggestions. Wow. What a set up for big butts. I used light set up for butts in SF Bay. Stay safe and tight line.
Wow crisp fish !!! I watch every single video you put out !! It is a deadly rig you should try it , send me a dm on instagram and I’ll send you a rig to use , @fv_hightide ball bouncing is deadly over here but we use 3lb balls and troll 2 / 2.5 knots
Great info. When I lived in SB I used to free dive a lot for lobster I would see the most halibut in super shallow during the winter. Biggest hali I ever seen diving was in December in about 10 feet of water it was every bit of 45lbs laying in a sand channel between the eel grass, biggest I shot was 32lbs in November in low 50-degree water. My good friend bounce ball's commercially he claims they go deep in the winter my experience is the big girls are shallow as long as the swell is down. Problem is you can't bounce that shallow so maybe drift live bait. Your channel is underrated you deserve more subs.
Very impressed with the quality of your rigs bro. Thanks for sharing your setup. The waters temperature up here is around 52 degrees also. Tight lines ✌️
Thanks ! For reals I’m not used to not catching this season has definitely been a slow start , I’m gonna try this Thursday possibly seems like the waters warming up finally
Great Info , Thanks for taking the time to show us. Just came across your Channel and hit the Subscribe Button . I look Forward to watching more of your videos . Blessings .
Your welcome The hoochies are hard to find in the 8” size I’m not sure why , but if you can’t find 8” 4” works too , the sparkles I get at my local fishing store been there caught that in SM
@@fv_hightide Thank you for your prompt reply. I searched for hoochie sparkles but couldn't find any. If you know the exact name, please let me know. Hope to meet you one of these days.
Try trolling bay farm inland bridge out to open water along the south side we used to do that in the 70s to old to go now .Split tail fishing probably great around that bridge to . personal best stripper there 28lbs.tight lines❤
Try using the biggest spinner baits you have for bass add a 1or2 ft stinger hook with your choice of bait that vibration hold on tight and get ready! Tight lines have fun❤
Nice video bro, just kinda scary to troll with your rods bending sideways. Recommend you turn rods 1/4 turn so they are arched in the direction they are made for. If a big fish hits or you get snagged on bottom with drag too tight could break a rod.
Thanks but I have my drag set just right , I’ve got snagged plenty of times and it just pulls the drag , I like keeping the balls far apart especially when I’m running three rods
These halis will chew right threw 30 lb I’m surprised they chew threw 60lb , the dodger is what gives them there movement, how far you put the hoochie back from the dodger , farther away for less movement and closer for more
Are you finding the flashers and hoochies at BTCT in SM or another local store? For what ever reason, I keep catching sharks instead of buts. I'm hoping to land my first hali this year and could use a little advice, so I really appreciate your videos. I usually go out just north of you just because I'm not a fan of Port SLs launch (no slots on my trailer). Maybe I should be trying south a little more often. Thanks again.
Great video, very informative. any reason why you use mono instead of fluorocarbon, at least going to the hoochie? Might get bit even better with fluro since it’s invisible.
noticed that halibut have relatively small eyes, which in effect means that they’re not visual feeders they feed off that lateral line that goes on the top and the bottom of the fish. Floral carbon is real brittle anyways, and if it chafes easy and it’s not necessary.
Those snap swivels that you’re using foul easy and when they do foul they will they can cut your line. they can also cut your line if you tangle with one of your other rigs, that’s in the water. I use scissor snaps exclusively.
I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK DRIFTING USING THE L BRACKETS , WEIGHT(1-2lb) ON THE SHORT ARM, POLE ON THE L CONNECTION, LEADER & BAIT ON THE END OF THE LONG ARM, WORKS GREAT ALL OVER SF BAY,
I’ve never in my life seen someone hook a flasher up for halibut fishing . I can see that set up getting all snagged up a lot on your own line and being a complete mess . Idk. Looks like you catch ‘em.

Slow bite I’m going to take a nap lol , if there’s squid in your area it will work !
Thank you for sharing. I like how organized you are. It makes a big difference in catching. Good luck next time.
Thank you ! I ended up having a great season
Thanks Brother

Trying to figure things out around here
Truly appreciated

TY TY.. Exactly what I was looking for! Best Tutorial on the subject!! Liked and new Sub!

Hi thanks for watching , this set up works great for big halibut with sharp teeth 🦷 give it a try I think you’ll like it
Love the attitude! There's always another day of fishing 🎣
Yes always nice being out there on the water !!

Thanks , I just work the sandy bottoms get Navionics app on your phone and you can see all the structures
I like your method, that rig looks deadly. I want to give it a try in the sf bay area. Thanks for the video!

Yeah it's been rough out there. Bites are really slow. Thanks for sharing your video on making the hooch.
Yeah hopefully this next week or two the bite will turn back on ! If not then I’ll be trolling at Cachuma lake

I really like that set up.
It’s a killer set up
Awesome technique what size was the line to the hoochie?
Thank you for the great detail instructions. Do you have links for hoochies and sparkles you use?

Nice tutoring video bro. How many inches is your squid skirt? Hopefully one day we could fish together. Thanks bro. Keep it coming.
8” thanks what area do you fish ? Central coast ?
@@fv_hightide central. I want to try out Avila bro.
@@fv_hightide in the bay and central. But want to come try Avila. Lmk.
What size or how long are your hooches that you use
How do they work at the channel islands
Intressting way of fishing for halibut, have u ever tried it the way we do it in norway, jigging with big halibutjigs up to 500g

GOOD JOB ON SET-UP, 4 CAL, I WOULD USE LIGHTER LINE , LIKE 30lb, BETTER MOVEMENT ?

I don’t like using floro, floro is only good for one hook up with a big fish then needs to be replaced
Thanks 👍

Your welcome, where do you launch ?
Do u sell these halibut rigs? Everything but the dodger?
Where do you get the flasher inserts for the hoochies? Also what would the name for those be?
Amazon, or Dick’s sell those inserts
Where do you order those bigger hoochies?
At my local fishing store
Can I buy a couple of those rigs from you? Do u sell them?
Thanks
Would like to purchase some of those Halibut rigs. Not familiar with the instagram

Thanks Captain! Let’s go chase some flatties !!
