Guard Retention & Recovery: Top Leg Frame to Prevent the Pass

- You can use a top leg frame to help recover your guard in a very common scenario: the guard pass to cross-side. Our most effective method for recovering guard from cross-side is usually the knee-elbow escape. In many instances, though, you may find your guard’s been passed and your partner is PREVENTING you from recovering your bottom knee position. Then what happens? Well, you can high-leg - always a good option, but sometimes out of reach if their head is low or you lack flexibility. We can also recruit the TOP leg to create the distance we need to bring that bottom leg back inside. That’s our focus today, starting from a toreando variation and working our way out with the help of that top leg.

I've been having people block my bottom knee when escaping so this came at a great time!
Great to hear 💪🏼
This is the best jiujitsu channel on RUclips hands down. You’re instruction and the way you show the sequence of moves in different views is amazing.
