@@ekzxty Be that as it may, there's no denying that all of them have presented a poor return of investment FOR MAN UNITED in terms of resale value (apart from Lukaku) and trophies won. Side note: - Knee injury has nothing to do with Maguire becoming the most "entertaining" defender in the world. - Pogba was nowhere near his best for Man United eventhough he still performed really well for France at the same period. Meaning poor return of investment for Man United. - Martial was signed for £56million. That may not be a lot by Man United's standards, but that is a lot of money for most clubs. - Mount's performance for the past few seasons does not warrant him a £65mill transfer fee and £250K per week salary, yet Man United decided that it was a good idea to sign him for THAT amount. His performance (or lack there of) for Man United so far has proved that he isn't worth the amount Man United are paying him - Lukaku was one of the best strikers in Europe a few seasons ago for Inter Milan, not Man United.
I only watched the first 5 matches played by Antony to recognise his skills and football artistry, but also is self-pride and cockiness. Not ready to adjust his game to Premier League style was his undoing.
Good point. I remember when he scored against Arsenal in what I think was his first game. He celebrated thumping the Man U badge... I thought mmk! Then he went on being arrogant, trying to stir up onfield beef unnecessarily - clearly uninformed on the fixture's tense history. And I vividly remember a teammate (I forget who) gesturing he should 'chill'. I'm certainly not surprised by the domestic violence charges
Seeing Antony, I cannot fathom how Arjen Robben made himself a very decorated career by just cutting in on his left foot and shooting. He was predictable too, but he was unstoppable.
There’s a difference between being predictable and being unstoppable I’ve got no skin in the game for Antony or Robben, but Robben was just unstoppable, inevitable Sometimes you know a player is going to do something and 99% of the time, just pull it off Antony is more the 99% of the time when it doesn’t come off
@@choke9270It's not about swapping wings. In terms of relying on his left foot, Robben was as predictable as Antony. Ødegaard also relied exclusively on his left foot. He seems to be doing more than fine. Relying on his stronger foot isn't the problem. It's his indecisiveness. He keeps making the wrong decision on when to pass, dribble or shoot. His lack of tactical awareness made it worse. Antony doesn't seem to know or care where his teammates are. Robben and Ødegaard screened their teammates all the time so they know their options.
I swear people these days have a very misconstrued view of what kind of player Robben was just because he was great at cutting inside with his left. Robben was equally as good on the outside of his food as he was going inside it. That's what made Robben so unpredictable and lethal, because he could turn left or right at the blink of an eye. Seriously go watch his highlights. Robben was anything but predictable.
Robben was only predictable in RUclips highlights. Like the comment above mentioned he was far from that. His speed and strength alone should be enough to separate him from Anthony. Robben could dribble past anyone at will. I don't believe that anyone who actually saw Robben playing can call him limited and associate his playing style with Anthony's. People should stop watching RUclips for highlights and come up with bold statements like calling one of the best players of his generation predictable.

Oi Vizeh. I've been really enjoying your content since two, three years ago. I really want to thank you for making these videos about football as a sport generally. As a person living in South Korea and probably one of your few Asian audiences, you've really helped me keep up with the footballing culture in England. But I have to ask for you to make a video essay on Jurgen Klinsman. He was sacked by the South Korean FA a mere 3 days ago, and he was only 11 months into his South Korean manager tenure. His incompetence caused the South Korean national team, possibly the strongest in all of Asia, to get knocked out of the AFC Asian cup in embarassing fashion in the quarter finals. It may be a good result for south Korea, but Klinsman was completely neglective of the national team, and only relied on the star players to get results without giving any tactical advice. Not to mention he spent HALF OF HIS TENURE OF KOREAN NATIONAL TEAM MANAGER IN THE US OF A. IS HE TAKING A GOD DAMN PISS. The South Korean FA sacked him a few days ago, but thanks to him the national team's ego and the player's overall morale has taken a huge hit. The South Korean football fans are absolutely enraged about the FA's decision in the first place to promote Klinsmann as their head coach. He was inconsistent in Bayern Munich and Schalke. I know that it may be a big leap for you to focus on issues outside of European football, but I can't and don't want this issue to be contained just inside Korea. I want the issue to be spread world wide. So it would be great if you could do a video essay about Jurgen's horrendous south korean tenure. Thanks a lot for the great content you make man. keep it up.
To his defense, I think he's been made a target by the media/fans and it seems to have really affected him. As an Ajax fan, I can tell you that there is a player in there, but he can't catch a break even from toxic United fans. I hardly see the same level hate for someone like Mykhailo Mudryk who cost exactly the same, is the same age and has performed equally as poor.
Honestly, when he was at Ajax I watched him play every week and for the life of me I didn't see why people were so excited about him. Sure he controls a ball nicely every now and again, but he just doesn't score or assist as much as a winger should. He scored 24 goals in 82 matches for Ajax and only 4 assists. 28 goal contributions for a winger in 82 matches is simply not enough. That's not even a goal or assist every 3 games.
@@suckieduckie when you put the numbers out like that, really makes you wonder if Ten Hag had the best interests of United in mind or was trying to satisfy his own ego by wanting to be admirable/leading a revolution.
@@jaijeet7459 Ten Hag saw potential. He always said that Antony was very quick on the first few meters which fitted Ajax really well because in the Eredivisie they could play on the opponents half of the pitch. If you can pass your direct opponent as a winger and deliver a cross with just 10 meters of space, that is extremely valuable. The problems seems to be that Ten Hag A) underestimated how quick your average PL leftback is and B) overestimated how dominant he could play with Manchester United in the PL. Antony just isn't that good when he's far away from the goal.
If you can only play with your left and try to cut inside, learn from robben. If you can only play with your left, don’t often cut inside and want to support your the team more from the flank, Learn from Gareth Bale. Seeing player like antony makes me aprreciate greath bale more now. His dribbling skill is limited, but that guy nows what to do with the ball. Antony in the other hand is clueless IMO 😅
The ironic thing is that ETH was looking for a player that can run down the wing, sprint into space and beat player… he sold that man to us… Nottingham Forest 😂 elanga is exactly what ETH needed and sold him for 15 mil
As an Arsenal supporter, when I see Antony play, I get really strong Nicolas Pepé flashbacks. Partly because the transfer fee was absurdly high, partly because you can see what their main problem is - they are not used to playing against decent defenders. As for the transfer fee - we know that our former sporting director (ex-Barcelona Raul Sanllehi) signed Pepe and he actually somehow got part of the transfer fee as a consultant fee - when Arsenal got wind of this, they fired him immediately. Everyone could see that he was not worth 72 million pounds, even Lille who asked for a smaller price, but Sanllehi insisted on paying a greater fee knowing he would pocket a couple of millions afterwards as a consultant. I hope this did not happen in the case of Antony and the sporting dir. of ManU. As for these players' ability to dribble past opponents - Pepé was used to the French league and believe me - PL defenders are much, much better in every way than those guys over in France, especially the smaller teams. It was much easier for Pepé to do a trick, a feint, or just go past them with the ball. Same goes for Antony who could be king in the Netherlands, playing against the smaller clubs and their defenders. But the PL ain't the Eredivisie and he simply cannot seem to be able change his game against people who can actually defend really well. To summarise: Pepe was a decent 20-25 mil player who could have been an FA Cup / Europa League mainstay player but probably not the star player everyone expected him to be - based on the transfer fee which was not really his fault to be honest. Antony in reality would have been worth around 25-30 mil but he had had 1 (!) very good season and ManU forked out the big wonga for him. If you look at him as a signing for his real value - yeah, he is just about there, nothing special, would star against Championship oppositions in the cup and would (and does) struggle against PL level defenders.
What is so frustrating (and probably doesn't help his case) is that he genuinely works hard, unlike the more sulky inconsistent players like Rashford and Bruno. The fact that this still is nowhere near good enough for most top half premier league teams let alone Man United just shows the ineptitude of the scouting and negotiating departments of the club that will hopefully change under INEOS
I think it’s just another example of how big fees don’t always translate into success and smart effective low cost signings like garnacho are proving to be a better model for some big six clubs rather than the classic shove 50 mil down a clubs throat
I honestly want to see ten hag try him at outside back with all the injuries they’re having because he actually defends pretty well he’s decently pacey and has quick feet

@@Vizehso they should have waited for him to blow up in Seria A this season and then would have had to pay over 100 million? Hate to say it, but this is one of your worst takes.
He was good for the first few months at United, but he's been figured out. Now every defender in the league knows he can only use his left foot, which makes him the easiest winger to defend in the league. The problem is his left foot isn't even that good- Arjen Robben was similar, very little right foot to speak of, but his left foot was the best in the world. Antony's left foot is average and his right might as well be amputated. Also his decision making is quite bad, dribbles when he should pass, does a spin when he should run, etc. I don't think he's AS bad as some people say but I think he's not good enough for the prem. This is a united fan, for reference.
I think Antony could shine under the right system, in a team thats something like a midtable German or Spanish side. Antony's favourite things are taking on his man, taking him on again cutting in and shooting. Thats nothing like how United would ideally play. If you look at our best attacking performances (Wolves A, Everton A, Aston Villa H etc. ), we always play fast passing counterattacks, which is why Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho are performing. They have pace, and have good linkup play. They're always thinking about a forward action, while antony always thinks about how to embarrass his man, then turns around, and passes back
As an Ajax fan, Antony was the most entertaining player i have seen over the last years. I think the main issue why he isnt performing well at united, is that the level between the Eredivisie and the Prem is too big. I also think that the playing style of United don’t fits him well.
In terms of his play it’s poor no question, but he is also been a victim of a transfer fee that he didn’t ask for, women plotting to destroy his career with lies, and playing in a underperforming Manchester United team. He is human so I can imagine that it’s difficult to keep yourself stable mentally and ready to play good football. Players like sancho and Antony are players that need to play in an already functioning team and with ideally players and coaches that they love to be around.
Guys. When Benzema and Vini Jr were Signed, they played very bad for a few seasons. But now Benzema is one of the best strikers in the world and Vinicius is one of the best wingers. So stop hating Antony....
For starters, United themselves valued Antony at £25m. Could have gotten him for slightly more than that but decided to play hardball. As the transfer window wore on, his price went to £50M. United could still have paid a tad more to secure his service but decided to play hardball again because they felt they could have gotten him nearer to his initial value if they had just paid the asking price then. As the transfer window drew to a close, ajax took United for a ride because they knew United was desperate and held for £85M. Not being able to play hardball anymore, United paid up. That's how united paid so much for a circus clown who is more interested in performing monkey tricks (even in training) than actually do what he is paid for. He lacks pace to beat defenders. His dribbling is predictable as everyone knows only one of his feet works. No vision to play the incisive pass. Yes United should bear most of the blame because of their poor transfer decisions. But ETH's insistence on Antony is equally atrocious. To show even poorer judgement, he signed onana & sofyan arambat. Yes, he did sign hojland, but after throwing a tons of darts, one is bound to hit the board.
its worth mentioning that alot of erik's transfers where second choices because the club didn't back ten hag in his requests as much as they should've. Same thing with antony, ten hag wanted him way earlier in the transferperiod, but because it took a shocking performance with sub par players united finaly caved... at the final fking day of the transferwindow while it was very clear by ajax that the later they will buy him the more expensive he will be

I'm not a Man United fan, and I'm quite neutral to Ten Haag, but somehow it doesn't make sense to me that he thought Mason Mount was crucial to the team he wanted to build. Man United's recruitment has been tragic for a decade now. It might be time to blame someone else than the manager for it. Even if all of the managers you've had are to blame, surely someone at the club then has to take responsibility for granting so much recruitment power to the managers. It always boils down to the manager in football. If the recruitment is great - amazing, GOAT manager work. If the recruitment is bad - the manager doesn't cut it, I knew it!
I knew Antony was horrible when the people defending his performances were praising the fact that as a winger he held width😂😂😂 That’s like praising a Goalkeeper for being in goal
Put him on the left and Rashford on the right. Then they can actually cross the ball at pace. It's fairly simple. Otherwise you massively limit your attacking options. They can still cut inside.
I do honestly belive that Antony with a proper manager and trainer he could become decent, not world class but still able to get into a starting 11 for a mid table team. So thats why i think we should get him for 500k so Arne slot can coach him

i think if bernardo silva had no mentorship, discipline, football iq, experience or any tactical nouse whatsoever and didnt know his role in the team, i think youre left with a player not too far off anthony. he clearly isnt completely useless and like bernardo silva he can dribble, is mostly one-footed and not the quickest. the difference is bernardo has had 8 years learning from the best tactical mastermind in history and anthony just doesnt have anything close to that in ten hag, nor does he have a defined role in the team that allows him to play to his strengths like bernardo does. while he is a frustrating and overpriced player, in the right team i think he could make more of himself.
I don't really watch football but it's supposed that the player who has the right foot dominance play in the right wing and vice versa? Why he in the right wing when his left foot is the dominance one
What's keeping Antony down is his brazillian heritage, ironically. He would be a great dribbler if he just focused on perfecting body feints like Messi or Robben. Instead, he keeps trying to do fancy stuff and failing miserably. He has a short build, he is made for body feints and rapid acceleration. Elasticos and fancy spinning moves aren't his thing, he needs to wake up. He's letting the entirety of Brazil down with his horrible antics.
Forgetting the transfer fee what is Anthony actually worth based on what we have seen? Because I transfermarkt has him valued at £35mil and honestly that’s probably accurate maybe 5 million to much. He would struggle to start for any team 11th or above.
I fully agree with what's said in the video but it then makes me question why is no one talking about Jack Grealish's move to Manchester City - more money were spent on him and the return isn't that much different.

Whenever I'm down thinking about Pepe's transfer, I always remember the likes of Antony, Maguire, Pogba, Martial, Mount, Lukaku and a whole list of duds that Man United had signed.
@@aabidamn Lukaku is different- at least Man Utd sold him for 80 million euros. The others are complete write offs. Its just bad business all round.

@@ekzxty Be that as it may, there's no denying that all of them have presented a poor return of investment FOR MAN UNITED in terms of resale value (apart from Lukaku) and trophies won.
Side note:
- Knee injury has nothing to do with Maguire becoming the most "entertaining" defender in the world.
His performance (or lack there of) for Man United so far has proved that he isn't worth the amount Man United are paying him
- Lukaku was one of the best strikers in Europe a few seasons ago for Inter Milan, not Man United.
He'll be in the Lithuanian A Lyga in 6 years.

The guy is a narcissist
Seeing Antony, I cannot fathom how Arjen Robben made himself a very decorated career by just cutting in on his left foot and shooting. He was predictable too, but he was unstoppable.
That’s a myth. Robbed had way more to his game. Regularly swapped wings and played on the right at Chelsea.
There’s a difference between being predictable and being unstoppable
I’ve got no skin in the game for Antony or Robben, but Robben was just unstoppable, inevitable
Sometimes you know a player is going to do something and 99% of the time, just pull it off
Antony is more the 99% of the time when it doesn’t come off
@@choke9270It's not about swapping wings.

If he can't prove Antony isn't sh!t then it questions his ability as a manager, as a professional with an eye for emerging talent, a fool who underestimated how strong the Premier League is and a coach who is unable to improve a player.

Mudryk does get hate aswell but it isn’t on par with Antony’s
Honestly, when he was at Ajax I watched him play every week and for the life of me I didn't see why people were so excited about him. Sure he controls a ball nicely every now and again, but he just doesn't score or assist as much as a winger should. He scored 24 goals in 82 matches for Ajax and only 4 assists. 28 goal contributions for a winger in 82 matches is simply not enough. That's not even a goal or assist every 3 games.
See the love Jack Grelish gets for £100M pounds and all he does is bend over
@@suckieduckie when you put the numbers out like that, really makes you wonder if Ten Hag had the best interests of United in mind or was trying to satisfy his own ego by wanting to be admirable/leading a revolution.
The Twitter account that does the 'things that cost less than Antony ' is jokes 😂

The ironic thing is that ETH was looking for a player that can run down the wing, sprint into space and beat player… he sold that man to us… Nottingham Forest 😂 elanga is exactly what ETH needed and sold him for 15 mil
Not having ETH is the problem regarding fees…there is always an Utd tax. Been going on for years, board have spent money but nearly always poorly
Don't worry, he can spin that's very valuable, nobody esle can spin like him
What is so frustrating (and probably doesn't help his case) is that he genuinely works hard, unlike the more sulky inconsistent players like Rashford and Bruno. The fact that this still is nowhere near good enough for most top half premier league teams let alone Man United just shows the ineptitude of the scouting and negotiating departments of the club that will hopefully change under INEOS
INEOS? that not another american stuff?

Hes worth 25 m imo
7:53 "if you can't win games you can't score goals" Vizeh really is a man ahead of his time
I think it’s just another example of how big fees don’t always translate into success and smart effective low cost signings like garnacho are proving to be a better model for some big six clubs rather than the classic shove 50 mil down a clubs throat
I honestly want to see ten hag try him at outside back with all the injuries they’re having because he actually defends pretty well he’s decently pacey and has quick feet
Antony is not pacey, he has good dribbling but the speed of Bruno so he can’t beat his defender
He wasn't the one buying himself. It's not his fault he's not good enough. Besides, ever since Ferguson left only Zlatan was able to not get worse after joining United (and he got injured after a year) and no one improved. No one
It's something to do with a bad culture that's been ar tge club. Laziness and a big star attitude.

Bro did not see 2008 antony
I think Antony could shine under the right system, in a team thats something like a midtable German or Spanish side. Antony's favourite things are taking on his man, taking him on again cutting in and shooting. Thats nothing like how United would ideally play. If you look at our best attacking performances (Wolves A, Everton A, Aston Villa H etc. ), we always play fast passing counterattacks, which is why Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho are performing. They have pace, and have good linkup play. They're always thinking about a forward action, while antony always thinks about how to embarrass his man, then turns around, and passes back
You may think that your views are mostly from the UK but I'm all the way from Jordan and can't feel happier when I see a new video so keep it up bro✊💪
As an Ajax fan, Antony was the most entertaining player i have seen over the last years. I think the main issue why he isnt performing well at united, is that the level between the Eredivisie and the Prem is too big. I also think that the playing style of United don’t fits him well.
I think a fidget spinner is more consistent than Anthony.
Lmao 🤣
Type in RUclips search: Vinicius skills 2018/19. He was 18 at that time.
Then ask yourself - Did Antony ever have such an amazing talent?

Put him on the left and Rashford on the right. Then they can actually cross the ball at pace. It's fairly simple. Otherwise you massively limit your attacking options. They can still cut inside.

i think if bernardo silva had no mentorship, discipline, football iq, experience or any tactical nouse whatsoever and didnt know his role in the team, i think youre left with a player not too far off anthony. he clearly isnt completely useless and like bernardo silva he can dribble, is mostly one-footed and not the quickest. the difference is bernardo has had 8 years learning from the best tactical mastermind in history and anthony just doesnt have anything close to that in ten hag, nor does he have a defined role in the team that allows him to play to his strengths like bernardo does. while he is a frustrating and overpriced player, in the right team i think he could make more of himself.
My biggest question from this video does ten hag have a Really small head or does Antony have a gigantic head.
I just want to know why he always stops with the ball? Man won't just dribble
I don't really watch football but it's supposed that the player who has the right foot dominance play in the right wing and vice versa? Why he in the right wing when his left foot is the dominance one
Antony is a Championship player.
Luton was way closer than it should’ve been still ain’t convinced by Utd thoroughly believe they will fall of again soon enough
Forgetting the transfer fee what is Anthony actually worth based on what we have seen? Because I transfermarkt has him valued at £35mil and honestly that’s probably accurate maybe 5 million to much. He would struggle to start for any team 11th or above.
