    Obviously there's gonna be some comments about "We want Grant!" and the such, but can we give some love to Nate? Grant chose him for a reason so I'd like to say that he's doing a great job right now! I like both Grant and Nate, so keep it going, you two! Absolutely love this channel :D

    Nate is a necessary part of the channel now. As the channel grew, Grant had an obligation to increase the quality of the content. One person can't possibly be in charge of design, creation, and editing. That's why Nate is here, so that Grant can do some behind the scenes work and make the videos we love. Keep up the good work :)

    Shouldn't you have been wearing a Respirator while Grinding down the edges of the Fiberglass?

    • @blank57gaming36
      @blank57gaming36 6 лет назад +3

      Jeremy Maynard I think the only reason he wasn't was because it wasn't just the fiberglass itself plus the fact that it wasn't much grinding at all, knowing grant if it would have be hazardous they would have worn proper protection

    • @ntholt0715
      @ntholt0715 6 лет назад +22

      You should wear a respirator while applying resin to fiber glass, when cutting fiber glass, and grinding/sanding at it. Basically you need to use a respirator whenever you are handling fiberglass.

    • @TheCrimsonFist501
      @TheCrimsonFist501 6 лет назад +3

      The particles of resin will equally shred your lungs, they put warnings on resin miniature kits which are way smaller than the amount he was grinding off.

    • @Astaldoath

    Guys, thanks for doing this video series! I've been wanting to do a fiber-glass casting project for a couple years now, but held-off because of how complex the process seemed. However, I have followed the instructions in many of your past videos (router table, hot wire cutter, and metal melting kiln to name a few) and always gotten great results. Now I think I will tackle that fiberglass casting!

    FYI for anyone who plans to use fiberglass and resin. Where a respirator. Not a dusk mask or stuff like that. You need to wear a respirator. It is very toxic to inhale or ingest. Especially when sanding/grinding away at it.

    • @lily7039

      The thing that measures conductivity is valance electrons. It’s the electrons on the outer shell of the atom. These shouldn’t change when metals are molten So yes they are just as conductive.

    A HELPFUL TIP IF YOU DONT MIND MY INPUT. There's a chop mat gun that has the fiberglass mat in rope form an as you pull the trigger it sprays 1 inch pieces an soaks up the resin even an level so you don't get air bubbles , an unwanted sharp edges an a glass bubble roller helps smooth out the air bubbles . Hope this helps for future videos

    You can also apply a layer of Body Filler (Bondo) to make the surface smoother, and fill up any holes (then sand and fill again). Also, with the idea of the foam, you can apply the fibreglass to the foam after demolding it. That way you can have a solid version of the prop that can resist a bit more beating up, and also drill holes to screw on other parts (Maybe a blue shell? XD).
