He started at 13 but his drinking became a problem at 26? I think alcohol can be like a slow long term addiction that takes years sometimes but really does sneak up on you

    • @hellbentholland1008

Same thing happened to me. Never got me til 27 til I got my first dui and blew a .27 and was driving fine. Only got pulled over for a bad trailer light on a dark highway at after midnight. Not many could drive a 6 speed manual one ton diesel pickup with a trailer but it was a wake up call for me and the police. Because I passed their test and agreed to breathe into the tube. I really thought I would pass. They probably knew they may get me because .08 isnt hard to hit but they thought their stuff was broken. Took it two more times and then it was off to jail I went. Wish I could say that I quit after I got out of jail next day but definitely didn't. Said it was a fluke and my lawyer would handle it and missed the point of the wake up call. Continued to drink and still do and that was over ten years ago but I am at the point now where I know I've got to make a plan. I function but a body can only live so long with the amounts daily poured on for so many years and I know that is true.

Yes I totally agree. Whenever a group of people are drinking, they are much vulnerable to drugs. Most drugs are even given to people who are intoxicated and no longer have a better grip of the reality.

Whew! This is a very relatable story. Alcohol is a very complementing stuff. It either opens the door for other addictive habits or simply goes along and increased dependence on them. It's amazing he's now a better person. Thanks Detox to Rehab for sharing.

The title just says the right scenario of addictive people starting from alcohol and then drugs. It is a very severe modification in terms of addiction which ruins the life more than before.

I am now over 5 years sober, and I am still working in behavioral health helping others. I have been in college now for over 2 years after getting my GED and I actively work with other alcoholics and drug addicts inside of 12 step recovery with my free time. I also got engaged to my girlfriend of 3 years on Christmas. Spirituality and God are still at the center of my life. Life is good, and I have so much to be grateful for. Thank you for asking!

Bruh you're story is smack like my story. Shit is weird. I got to the point I was homeless with a home. I had a home but spent my days running the streets stealing to get high and living off of unemployment and my 401k and savings to pay rent. My wife eventually left me and now in 8 months sober and she came back and I work helping mentally ill people and I got my car back. I got my last car repossessed while high and no one would give me a chance bc I had a repossession on my record. The promises are true big bro. U wait and stay sober and good things happen. The impossible happens..
