    I learned this from her workshop in Portland and she actually called them Rhythm sticks.

      This is an educational method that takes only the name of Maori Sticks, but does not even resemble the real thing. Thanks for noticing. This activity is a great way to teach children steady beat and rhythm. The song they are singing is the first verse of a religious song called Follow the Prophet.
