Oh my goodness, Mazzy. I’m in music heaven. I’m blown away with these sets. Absolutely incredible. And your descriptions and historical nuggets are top notch!!! Very riveting. Prince’s boxed set is my favorite of the year. 😎💜🎧🎼💯
Wow...just incredible. Everything was going great and then you bust out the Prince and Stooges sets! I have them on CD, but seeing those vinyl boxes makes me sweat. I love it and dig your message Mazzy and wish you all the best for 2021.
Hi Mazzy, Crappy year but a sublime year for music and reissues despite COVID. You had me at the best reissue of the year.... LENNON. God bless and keep well and at it, angel of the VC Tino
Thanks Mazzy for a great upload. Couple i wasn't aware of that are now on the list to buy...Monk's 'palo alto' was the highlight for me. Best wishes from London..Peter
Hi Mazzy. Excellent selection specially the jazz and foreign section. And the boxes sets what a piece of art design apart the music. I loved the way you show and the open mind you taste in music, I agree with you. I like the hat you wear. Any relation with your trips to Canada and the royal hounted Police? 😜 Un abrazo desde Madrid. Keep going and take care
Great video ! I look forward to checking some of it out , particularly the Japanese Jazz Funk album. Last year I purchased a Japanese ambient box set called Kankyo Ongaku , which translates to Environmental Music . It's fantastic . If you like Eno , get this. Every year since 2014 , King Crimson has been putting out a small 2 CD Tour Box . They contain live tracks from that particular year , and previous years. They also contain various studio tracks of their past work . Sometimes it's just the guitar or keyboard track of one of their songs. Everyone of them is a fascinating listen . They also have great booklets with them . Best of all , they're surprisingly inexpensive . Thanks for the suggestions.
Check out the Elvis Costello & The Attractions Armed Forces Box set. A little pricey but comes with all the Barney Bubbles art intact. Really well done.
hey mazzy...nice boxes...very cool packaging on alot of them...i love that prince box...that was always my favorite album by him...i bet the extra vinyl is amazing...it is all about the music brother...peace always...rocly
My personal favourite has been the ongoing Tone Poet series by Blue Note. I have them all and every one is superb. I’d also give a special mention to the Sonny Rollins release by Resonance on RSD Black Friday. The sound quality on two of the three LPs is a little lacking, but the playing, my the playing is out of this world. The Miles Davis you mention is fantastic, I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
Concerning the Mo-Fi Desire reissue.. any other logical reason for limiting the number of pressings to 1,000 world wide besides "limited quantities of quitet/super vinyl "??
In your other video I was glad to hear of the Ekhidna album! In that same vein I found a great album recently by Rob Mazurek and the Exploding Star Orchestra," Dimensional Stardust". Really really good!
I'm so impressed with your knowledge of music in general. I'm always looking for different stuff and ive already ordered 4 or more of your suggestions! Thanks Mazzy
Loving your channel, which I discovered as a result of watching the Four Corners videos. I am seriously thinking of starting my own channel on matters vinyl with an emphasis on classical. Would love to get some pointers from you - is it possible to email you?
Love Miles Double Image..you are right on..it is “mellow” and a great listen..I gotta jump on those Joni Mitchell albums..I would kill for that MOFI Dylan Desire album..never saw that before !!! Too bad they didn’t include the book with the vinyl box of Gimme Some Truth..Love The Dead set, another one I dream of owning..Tom Petty Wildflowers was a great release..loved this video Mazzy...👍👍❤️❤️🍸🍸glen
There has been some gooood releases this year! :) there still are some to be released before Xmas :) i will probley do an video about them at the beggining of next year. Hopefuly when Covid-19 is over more bands will release more vinyl releases.
I know this was released yesterday but finally got around to viewing it. I did see you flip through your Tone Poet video I think last month and can't recall if you have it or not, but Cornbread by Lee Morgan is fantastic, bought that last year locally. I will get the Sidewinder hopefully early next year. :-) BTW, totally agree on this year sucking badly. Been unemployed (furloughed) since June. Will likely just slide into January on barely any funds for the first time. :-( But it's not all bad, Am getting my YT channel going and noticed so there is that.
I am frackin gobsmacked that you didn’t include the new Goats Head Soup box. Like Desire, it greatly improves upon the thin-sounding original. And it includes the ferocious live Brussels ‘73 show. It reminds us why the Stones were better than the Beatles!
Yes Goats is already underrated, and the bonus trax and great live album make it essential. Must say not a fan of my favorite band's remasters of the last 10 years esp Exile, so-so sound, plus "outtakes" with vocals sometimes recorded 40 years later. Much better is bonus disc of Some Girls. Harsh sound, new vocals BUT the 2nd disc is essentially a lost circa 1980 Stones studio album manages to sound unlike SG & ER. Great songs! Harsh sound, as usual w post 1970 Stones but GREAT 'new' studio album. Best sounding post 70 Studio Stones is USA 1st pressing vinyl (SF, Exile, Emotional,Tattoo, Black n Blue) on RS/Atco, or RS vinyl UK for the rest. Generally speaking.
My fave reissues this year: The Divine Comedy vinyl/cd reissues (particularly Absent Friends and Promenade), XTC Nonsuch vinyl reissue, Richard and Linda Thompson CD box set, Gimme some Truth.
@@davidhagedorn5009 lots of folks had issues where some didn’t play on some players and Then couldn’t burn or load into your computers -to rip if you do that.. universal UK then had a sign up for a disc replacement program and discs are finally arriving now in Europe and soon in North America. A ton of stooges : ) Listening to the Anthology's several versions of Strawberry Fields and hear John say I cannot do this. Worth it. Looks like Sean on the cover of the Lennon comp.
My box set of this disastrous year is Metallica with SF Symphony Orchesta.. four albums , 2Cds and a amazing Blu ray of the concert.. bring from SF I’m surprised you didn’t give it a listen ..
Luv the video Just to mention I linked your Best 20 of 2020 on my latest video also Best of 2020 Hope u are OK with that - Linked your channel in my description - unfortunately Vinyl is out of my reach here in Thailand so rely on digital
After this vid, just had to get Chicken Run Band...been listening to it by stream all morning...cheers! It'll very likely get more 'rega time' than my copy of Graceland.
Ordered Miles Davis Double Image ... and wouldn’t you know it, the outlet sent me Beyoncé’s latest. It blows my mind how they do that! Bastards! By the way, nice hat, Mazzy! 👍🏼😊
Any chance of leaving out the jazz, it detracts from.your narration and is a pain. So much so I have to leave this page! I freaking hate Jazz full Stop!
Uh no. I love jazz so I include it. You don’t have to when you make your own videos. Or simply skip over the jazz parts or try another video. Many of my videos don’t have any jazz content. Or let go and try to enjoy the genre 🤷🏻♂️😎

Doing a marathon Mazzy today. I think Paul Simon was influence and played with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, irrc.
Palo Alto is stunning...love the inserts, story and the historical importance...
I'm exhausted and now considering getting the Lennon 2CD/1BluRay box.
Interesting the Macca box didn't make the cut.

The "cracking" sound opening those Tone Poet gatefolds is so satisfying.
when you open it to fast, they break. like here in the video with the nina simone. that is why I always open them first time very slowly.
@@louiscyphre2555 That is true, a controlled "non-damaging cracking" sound is much more satisfying.
Bravo!!....Grazie per il tuo crudo delizioso eleganza, come fare l'amore con una donna di colore da un film blaxploitation.

Desire is probably my favorite late era Dylan album. I fell in love with Hurricane for it's use in the Dazed and Confused soundtrack.
Funny how we think Desire is late era Dylan when it is about 45 years old 😎
@@mazzysmusic I think about Desire as early middle age Dylan (Planet Waves, Blood on the Tracks and Desire Mofis are great!)
Funhouse is a big ass box set I got the cd version wha you think of pearl jam gigaton maz
Great picks Mazzy! What Ellington/Basie collection are you playing in the background?

Hey Mazzy cool 😎 items
Sigh, all that lovely packaging, never mind the music! Take care, John.
seems to be the trend nowadays, except for jazz reissues....nice packaging but crappy digital sound.
My fave reissues this year: The Divine Comedy vinyl/cd reissues (particularly Absent Friends and Promenade), XTC Nonsuch vinyl reissue, Richard and Linda Thompson CD box set, Gimme some Truth.
I would have included my Thompson box but I’m waiting for my replacement discs from universal. Was only able to listen to three of them so far
@@mazzysmusic What was wrong with your Thompson discs? I was lucky. No problems playing but have not tried uploading.

Nice to see that Mike McGear album in the background.
Japanese are good in jazz but real good in the funky jazz. I love several Japanese psych. Good job.
You should check out the reissue label Athens of the north on bandcamp
A ton of stooges : ) Listening to the Anthology's several versions of Strawberry Fields and hear John say I cannot do this. Worth it. Looks like Sean on the cover of the Lennon comp.
Yeah, was going to say, doesn't look like anything like John from any photo I've seen of him in his later years.
Henry Rollins? I didn't have many actual 2020 releases. Perhaps I can do better with this topic. Thanks, Chris
Yes Henry !
Like the use of The Pixies!
Mazzy, know if the Kraftwerk are AAA?
I do not know. My guess is no but they sound really fantastic.
That Machucana album is crazy good.

All those Tone Poets and NO internal seam splits. I must be the unlucky one :)
