What an amazing person Julie of Cocoknits is. I have a number of her tools that truly are problem solvers, as she said. After hearing her talk about her thought process that goes into creating her designs, I am even more drawn to her patterns. I have so much admiration for her approach to balancing the needs of her family, her business and also caring for herself. A true inspiration. I also love Andrew’s segments on historical places, monuments and art. It rounds out your program so beautifully. The music you select is also a huge draw for me. Thank you again for a spectacular episode and I hope people who can will join me in becoming a Patron. All the best.
I cannot tell you how much I look forward to your episodes. Especially now, when most of us in the U.S. are "shut-ins," and the rest of the world is closed to us, your travel segments (and Andrew's fascinating historical, sometimes quirky, perspective) are truly gifts. I look forward to your Scandinavian trip episode. The knitting is fabulous--but your contribution is so much more. I've told a gazillion people about your channel. Stay safe and healthy!
OMG..... I needed this today. Thank you for a beautiful program as always Andrea and Andrew. Especially thank you for hosting a chat with Julie of Cocoknits. Your last question for her was just for ME! I am doing the same thing with my son who needs constant care. And no one understands why I need to engage in so much needlework! Thanks again for this and all your programs.
Thanks for showing Alsace at its finest, hope the break did you good. I have seen the Retable d'Issenheim many times but did not know all the story behind it so was glad for the information. Carry on doing what you are doing as you are definitively the best blog around but do look after yourself and enjoy breaks. We can live with that as we want you to have the energy to dazzle us every time. Am looking forward to more forays in the woods or wherever you go. Merci beaucoup pour la musique aussi ....
Julie is one of my true knitting heroes. I have taken her classes and have almost all of her notions. She remains gracious, generous, and oh so positive each and every time I hear her voice I am reassured. Thank goodness for her wisdom and practical approach to our craft. Thanks to you for a fantastic interview from a very grateful patron.
Yes, i hadn't seen her knitting approach before and after trying out a sample its a great way forward for perfect fit. a good shoulder line is very flattering for most people and this approach makes it very simple to get that very neat look.
Thank you for the interview with Julie. I’m going through an extremely difficult time with an adult son at the moment and her words both moved and encouraged me. Knitting as a way of staying healthy is fantastic.
I had the great pleasure of taking a class with Julie last August at a retreat in Mont Tremblant. I also have a disabled daughter and I too had to build a career around her care. Julie’s success in the knitting world is truly inspiring. Great episode!
Thank you for another wonderful episode. I was able to visit the Isenheim altarpiece eight years ago when attending a conference in Dornach, Switzerland. As it was just a short train ride away, and I had studied the piece when in high school, a few colleagues and I made the trip one afternoon and stayed to eat our dinner there. What a treat it was to see all of the panels and to experience the beauty of those paintings! Thanks so much to Andrew for all of the research to let us all know about the details of why the figures are all there and the origin of the horrible disease hiding inside the rye grain. I always enjoy the time I spend learning and hearing about new patterns or designers. I look forward to seeing the fruits of your upcoming trip! All the best to you both.
Dear Andrea and Andrew, I must say this episode is one of the best you've done. Andrew is so knowledgable about all the history of the places and things that you see, you're a wonderful, creative and also very knowledgeable knitter. Your interview with Julie from Cocoknits was amazing, such simple designs and yet so well thought out. An admirable lady that spite the challenges in her daughter's life, she pushed on to make herself be the best. Thank you so much for this wonderful episode ❤️❤️ From Vancouver Canada, a big hug to you both. Lupita.
I have almost finished the Cocoknits sweater Molly and it fits so well. I really like the work sheet, I have drawn one for myself with using color pencils. Thank you for this great interview.
Dear Andrea, that 8-petal rose design is so amazing! I was thinking a tattoo feel too! I GASPED WHEN YOU SHOWED THE SLEEVES- beyond beautiful! That color matches your red hair color perfectly! Just so beautiful!
Just loved the interview with Julie, as I didn't know what all the Coco Knits frenzy was all about. What an inspiring beautiful lady. I will be buying her book and the work book as I like to have a drink while knitting so surely this will help me make less mistakes, lol. Great work again Fruity Knitting.
Another wonderful episode! Thank you Andrea and Andrew! My husband and I enjoy watching so much. It is cool outside tonight in rural Western New York and we watched on our porch with our little electric fireplace going. We are hoping for one festival in the Southern Adirondacks to go on as scheduled. We have a room booked for us and our miniature Schnauzer. If it gets cancelled, we will go Herkimer Diamond hunting which is great fun also. Looking forward to seeing Denmark! Have a wonderful, safe trip.
I really love all the variety of content in your show : music, art, history, travel, + knitting of course and all at such a high classy level. There is nothing else like it!! :)
Sometimes I think there can´t be a new methode to knit a pullover, but there it is: Cocoknits! I am enjoying some of the knitting tools very much! So thank you for intruducing us to Julie 😄
Truly exceptional episode✨. I have been lucky enough to meet Julie a few times at various knitting festivals in New York. I have also knit her Lizzie design and own most of her fabulous tools - she is a very special person !
I really like that Louise Harding shawl! Happy to have you back (you're my birthday present to me, laughing, today). Love this historical dive into food, illness and healing...fascinating! Sequins/sequences...love Andrew's eye role. That is a stunning jacket though. I hope your trip to Denmark, although hard work, will also be a bit less crazy than most festivals are. I love Cocoknits! My first pattern was Gabrielle and tonight as I've been watching Julie, I've been finishing Little Lamb! As she said so eloquently, I can't fix my daughter but I can fix knitting challenges. That's what has helped me in dealing with my adult son's mental health issues. And as a plus, he enjoys my knitting creations. Thank you for another wonderful programme. I'm happy to wait until the next time. HUgs
Another great episode!!! Watching you talk about your knitting, about history, about music and the interviews makes my heart light and happy! Julie Weisenberger another great lady. Coincidence or not, I just got her Emma pattern. She is very special just like you both! ❤
You two were soo missed! You’re both looking well and rested. I hope your break was long enough to get the rest you deserved. Thank you for all you offer in your incredible videos! 🌟💖💙
You had me at “you can drink and knit”! Another great episode and interesting interview with Julie of Coco Knits. I have several of her tools and love 5em. I am blown away by Andrew’s stocking stitch skills -so consistent. Andrea - your skills at reworking the maths to fit your gauge and body - wow. Your trip to Colmar looked lovely. Definitely adding it to my list of places to see when we can travel safely again. I have been eying Sidsel Høivik designs, but not sure if I have the skills at this point. So beautiful. Can’t wait to see your finished project. Now I will carry on with the baby blanket I am doing for my next great-nephew, due in November! 🧶🍷👍🏻😎
Oh that sweater of Andrew's is gonna be a stunner on you Andrea!! I want one, even in that colour, though I'm a cool-toned person, darn. I've loved all y'alls knitting so far, but this one has to be my favourite! Please take lots of photos of you in it.
Welcome back! You were missed. Very interesting history of the fungus, disease, cure and reoccurrence. I found that bit very intriguing. Thank you, Andrew. The music and the cloister, so beautiful @ 38:15 simply gorgeous.
I just loved this episode the best ever. Andrea and Andrew your knowledge and your short trips are wonderful but because I care please wear a mask and be careful when you do your interviews you both are so important to us all. I plan to support CocoKnit buy making a purchase of her book and also some of Julie’s tools. As Patron I cannot wait to watch and learn new techniques you both are doing a fabulous job and I appreciate all your hard work.
Another wonderfully interesting and inspiring interview on Fruity Knitting. I'm glad she was able to share her thoughts on the therapeutic benefits of knitting to help her be all she can for her disabled daughter.
Life size replica of an ear!!!! There is no person I know who has an ear that size. 99cm wide........wow. You have a great sense of humour Andrew. Keep up the wonderful videos,
I truly enjoyed this video. I have heard of cocoknits before but did not realize that she is amazing. I am going to look up her website and become a customer. I also loved the history part about St Francis and where the illness actual came from. Who would have known that the stable food made them sick. I feel this is one of the best videos you have made so far. And the peach color work sweater is fantastic what a perfect fit. I also love the color greens with the purple for the other sweater. Love my purple. Keep the good work up.
Thank you for a truly lovely episode. I'm very inspired by Julie's top-down seamless knitting method and general attitude to problems and happiness. Also was curious to listen to the music and history lesson about the skin disease and rye. I'm so happy I found my way to this channel and you guys are helping me find so many interesting branches within the knitting universe.
What a fabulous episode, from fos to wips to historical lessons and tours, a lesson in garment construction and procedures, and topped off with an a guest. I am super excited to see the next episode from your trip. The music was lively too!
Interesting information on St Anthony’s Fire! It sounded familiar, so I quick double checked and it appears that the fungus is the same as what caused the Salem Witch Trials in colonial Massachusetts. It caused so much trouble... I enjoyed your tutorial- I have knit several of Jennifer Beale’s designs as well. She is a genius in construction and creativity! Thank you for your time!
Wow, Julie is so stylish! This is a beautiful episode. I wish you and Madeleine Frohe Weihnachte. And also a lot of strength because this must be a difficult time missing Andrew. Wise lesson from Julie: 'look for some creative outlet that's really important'.
Hey Andrea, I am watching this Cocoknits episode again ( I watch episodes over again because they are such lovely tutorials, and you and Andrew inspire me) because I am so thrilled with Julie’s Invention AND I just received my book and workbook plus my tools ❤️ I have loads of yarn and my brain is already designing. I received your reply about my first sweater. Thank you, and you do inspire me. My friends in my Knitting Group are thrilled with it too 😀. I made it with the Knitpicks Lindy Chain (it ravels so you have to knot every end) 70 Linen/30 Cotton blend, with short sleeves (set-in) and bordered by lace on the bottom and sleeves. It’s bottom-up split skirted and I also adjusted the pattern to fit me better, plus I changed the neckline pick-up from a ribbed finish to a ribbed pick-up which flows into a three stitch applied i-cord cast-off. I really like my modified neckline. I won’t be doing much knitting for the next few months because some construction work and plumbing have to be done in our apartment and I have a lot of work to prepare for that dreaded event. Ugh! I will still look out for my Fruity Knitting episodes 😀❤️ Have a mild and fruitful winter.
Another wonderful episode! So much variety, thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Everything was so fascinating from your kits, to the history lesson and the town visit. Julie's interview was delightful. She is so inspiring. Having worked in the disability field for nearly 30 years, it's important to remember to care for yourself to be able to care for others. As they say in the airline industry, you must put on your own air mask first. I hope you had a good break and it was what you needed to continue. Keep putting your air mask on! Take care until next time.
Andrew and Andrea~what a brilliant show. I absolutely love it. The interview is fabulous. I went right off to order the Cocoknits Sweater book. Thank you both for the such great time.
So happy to see you knitting the paisley kofte; I've had my eye on it for awhile. Love your podcast, thanks for all the time, thought and effort that you put into it.
What a great episode!! Thank you for the interview with Julie. I must have her book. Your tutorial was an eye opener - - the possibilities. Makes me more confident in trying new techniques.
It's always fun to hear about other people's experiences traveling, but I think it's particularly therapeutic these days.. Living in California, I won't be traveling at all this year and due to wildfire smoke I can't really go outside. Those circumstances have made hearing about other places more special. Thanks for sharing about Colmar!
Andrea and Andrew loved this episode. Enjoy Cocoknits products very innovative. I was fortunate to take a class with Julie. Look forward to seeing your completed paisley jacket. I adore paisley.
I intended to take a quick look but couldn't pull myself away. Thank you for this well done interview that goes beyond the "what" of knitting into the "why." Lovely!
LOVED this episode Glad to see you both back after a break! And Julie is so amazing I loved her sharing her personal situation and seeing the role of knitting in our lives
I love this episode very much, especially the end of the interview, as a mother of a disabled son, it is true knitting is not a luxury it is a necessity absolutely true❤. Thank you so much 🌹💐.
Please finish the green sweater and wear it. It would be a shame to leave it unfinished. We love and care for you in these difficult times. Andrew is missed dearly by all.
Fabulous podcast as always, and Julie was so wonderful to listen to. I love her sweater construction. Loved the piece you filmed in France too - what a pretty place!
Great episode, thank you! Andrew I am really enjoying your history and facts sections. Andrea your finished sweater is beautiful and thank your for the tutorial and helpful information about your garment as I want to make it as well. Enjoy your trip to Denmark!
Seeing the cloister garden in the intro I thought for a minute you had visited Bebenhausen. Have been there once on a beautiful spring day, have happy memories of a lovely day with family. It’s worth a visit. Great informative episode again. Thank you! 💕
Great episode... loved Julie from CocoKnits and will try one of her patterns. Am also knitting a Sidsel Hoivic Kofte Anémone.... love it! So much fun getting a package with yarn and buttons and sequence (s) 😂
Both your sweaters are stunning! I can't wait to see the item Andrew knits for his sister! If you share. LOL The place Julie Weisenberger was doing the interview is so lovely! I love her patterns! Anyway glad to have you back and thank you for another awesome video!
Interesting about the pigments. We really hadn't expected to see the painting in such a state - a treat in a way. The story is that Grünewald painted the altarpiece in Frankfurt - just around the corner from us here. Small world.
Great interview with Coco knits..I have the corks stoppers and couldn't live without them now; am about to order the cords for putting stitches on. Plus a heartwarming story about her daughter. Look forward to your next episode
What a delightful couple you are...enjoy both the expert knitting as well as the travel and art history. Suggest that you provide the timestamps in the description box that separate the content. Would love to share the Colmar part with my husband who doesn't knit, for example.
I love the Art History section Andrew! Thanks so much, particularly at the moment when I can't travel anywhere from Melbourne. Love all your content, both of you, as usual :)
Julie is amazing on design and ideas. She is tough. The exit of her ruined life created her career and the once ruined business situation made her own successful business
Yay!! Loved this episode- especially since I’m an art historian I really love the part about the isenheim altar and the beautiful cloister Kreuzgang :) and now that I know the woman behind coco knits I’m mich more likely to buy some of her beautiful tools and patterns!! What an inspirational person- just like both of you!! Lots of knit-love from Wuppertal in NRW 🧶💗
am new ,but just loved the music and filming of the cloister etc and the beautiful cardigans in my favourite colours ,pink and green ,colour of our home and garden
and also I have just discovered the program notes. This is the first time that I've listened to Henry Eccles. I love the violin sonata that you've selected for the show.
Hi Andrew, I learned to knit on a lace edge this year. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy, peasy. Don’t worry about speed knitting, it is more enjoyable to knit without the stress. Just enjoy the process. Your speed may or may not increase with experience. Don’t compare yourself to Andrea, she has been knitting for years. Andrea, I like that you are always trying new techniques and constructions and choose your own gauge and you are able to figure out the math. I also like the yarns you choose for your projects.
Wonderful episode! I really enjoyed it. I almost shut it off a few minutes early, but I’m so glad I didn’t. The advice at the very end about doing for yourself really helped. Thank you!
Oh wow Andrea! Julie is such a lovely person ❤️ I cannot imagine being able to cope under such circumstances but I take my hat off to her. You know when it comes to garment knitting that you are my hero. And yes, I finally made a Garment this summer, with set in sleeves, and I DID the trusty back-stitch that I also learned in my British Commonwealth background. It came out beautifully! I still have to wash and block since I have to wait until next year after Covid 19 goes away I have not got around to it.😁 Back to Cocoknits. I have always wanted to do the English Tailored Shoulders. I am so thrilled that Julie was able to channel her creativity into inventing the hand-knitted method of doing so. I have ordered her book from the UK and I will also order the tools from her. From what I have gleaned, she has given us the Basic tool to create a Tailored garment with room for us to Incorporate our own designs with neck contouring and our choice of stitch pattern.I can’t wait to do a cardigan (with a collar too) using her method. I loved seeing the Steek Sandwich. It’s a brilliant solution to the raw edges and the bulk. I have short arms so Dolman is not for me, but it was fun watching the process of L’anse au Loop. I see how much fun you have making a Sidel Hoivik garment. I can see the glee in your face when showing it off. You get like that with Alice Starmore designs too. 😁 I wish you and Andrew well and stay healthy. I don’t mind waiting an extra week or two to see a jam-packed well produced episode. You guys are great.
Loved the interview with Julie. Am rushing over to Cocoknits to check out her products. Love the tour of the French town and seeing the altar piece and hearing about the rye fungus. And that lime green cardigan - whew. I would have chosen that one as well.
Andrea, how did you gather your knowledge of knitting? You said you were a pianist and an opera singer...so how do you know so much about pattern changing to suit ones figure. How to make it longer/shorter. /wider etc. would love to know, thanks..btw to everyone out there who is considering becoming a patron,,,,,well go for it. These two need supporting. It’s such a small amount for you but means the world to them. Come on ...do,it.
When you go to Fanø you might look for some stitch holders that are the new rage! They are made of silicone and they are really cheap. They come usually in a little bag and are very colorful. You simply put them (looks like a long spaghetti) on the tip of the needle and transfer the stitches.
What an amazing person Julie of Cocoknits is. I have a number of her tools that truly are problem solvers, as she said. After hearing her talk about her thought process that goes into creating her designs, I am even more drawn to her patterns. You all are a great competitor of Amazon Prime and Netflix. You are my new happy, harmless addiction 🥳

Dear Andrea and Andrew, I must say this episode is one of the best you've done. Andrew is so knowledgable about all the history of the places and things that you see, you're a wonderful, creative and also very knowledgeable knitter.

Thanks, Micalanne.
I think Andrew is just amazing the way he knits and the top he's doing for Andrea has been knitted beautifully. Well done Andrew!
Dear Andrew - that green project is PERFECTION! It belongs in a museum and so beautiful!
You had me at “you can drink and knit”! Another great episode and interesting interview with Julie of Coco Knits. I have several of her tools and love 5em. Fantastic interview with ‘Coco knits’ Andrea you have a wonderful way of helping people talk about parts of their lives❤️

Thanks for the interview with Julie, she is so inspiring!
Thanks, Tabea.
Thank you so much for this episode, particularly your sensitive questions regarding Julie's daughter. It is inspirational.
Excellent episode Thank you Andrea and Andrew
Andrea and Andrew loved this episode. Enjoy Cocoknits products very innovative. I was fortunate to take a class with Julie. Look forward to seeing your completed paisley jacket. I adore paisley.
So lovely to see you both back. Xx
A lovely and visually captivating episode. Thanks for the tutorial and history. Art and music and yarny things!!
Excellent episode. Very inspiring and looking forward to seeing the Danish episode!
Another great episode. Love the garments you are both making. Thanks so much.
This was wonderful. Thank you! Very inspirational in many ways.
Cocoknits blocking mats are the best I have ever used.
Thanks Keiko, and enjoy your L'Anse au Loup.
Seeing the cloister garden in the intro I thought for a minute you had visited Bebenhausen. Have been there once on a beautiful spring day, have happy memories of a lovely day with family. It’s worth a visit. Great informative episode again. Thank you! 💕
Wonderful interview. I had a problem with a CoCo Knits tool, and the customer service was terrific.
Great episode... loved Julie from CocoKnits and will try one of her patterns.
Am also knitting a Sidsel Hoivic Kofte Anémone.... love it! So much fun getting a package with yarn and buttons and sequence (s) 😂
Can't wait to see your footage at the area of the festival. Enjoy the drive and be safe. Brambleknits
Both your sweaters are stunning! I can't wait to see the item Andrew knits for his sister! If you share. LOL The place Julie Weisenberger was doing the interview is so lovely! I love her patterns! Anyway glad to have you back and thank you for another awesome video!
Thanks, Renee. We're happy to be back with you too!
The interview of Cocoknits was very inspiring, thank you!
I love the altarpiece. Apparently there are ingredients in the pigments that Gruenwald used in his work that still can’t be identified. Great episode.
Interesting about the pigments. We really hadn't expected to see the painting in such a state - a treat in a way. The story is that Grünewald painted the altarpiece in Frankfurt - just around the corner from us here. Small world.
Another amazing episode. Thank you Andrea and Andrew :-)
What I forgot to say is that I so much love the travels you take us on, and all the very special information you give us Andrew :-)
Found your podcast and this video through Fleece and Harmony. Andrea, such a beautiful sweater you're wearing!
Very enjoyable! Thanks!🎉
I so enjoyed the "sequences" moments.... bless your hearts, I am keeping you all in my prayers. x
Wooooo yarn mom and yarn dad! I missed you guys! If this was an airport and not youtube, I would have made a stupid sign.
Very funny image there, Malcolm! Thanks!!!
Great interview with Coco knits..I have the corks stoppers and couldn't live without them now; am about to order the cords for putting stitches on. Plus a heartwarming story about her daughter. Look forward to your next episode
Thank you, Valerie.
YAY!!! You're back!
Yay!
What a delightful couple you are...enjoy both the expert knitting as well as the travel and art history. Suggest that you provide the timestamps in the description box that separate the content. Would love to share the Colmar part with my husband who doesn't knit, for example.
Your Jennifer Beale sweater is wonderful. After seeing yours, I’ve decided to make it too.
I'm so happy! How I've desperately missed you!
Beautiful excellent bright green sweater Andrew. You did a wonderful job!
I love the Art History section Andrew! Thanks so much, particularly at the moment when I can't travel anywhere from Melbourne. Love all your content, both of you, as usual :)
Art History/History - I spoke too soon!
Thanks Helen, and greetings to Melbourne! We're just on our way back from Denmark - lots to see in the next few Episodes.
You are absolutely amazing how you figure all that out.
Loved this video.your bright sweater is beautiful. I may think about doing that pattern. The cocoknitsinterview was wonderful! ❤️
Schöne Grüße nach Wuppertal!
am new ,but just loved the music and filming of the cloister etc and the beautiful cardigans in my favourite colours ,pink and green ,colour of our home and garden
I enjoyed this episode so much. From beginning to end. Love your podcast!
and also I have just discovered the program notes. This is the first time that I've listened to Henry Eccles. I love the violin sonata that you've selected for the show.
I really enjoy your tutorials on your WIPs. Always interesting.
Definitely taking it easy with the pace, Gisele. Thanks for being with us!
I still have to wash and block since I have to wait until next year after Covid 19 goes away I have not got around to it.😁
Back to Cocoknits.
I wish you and Andrew well and stay healthy. I don’t mind waiting an extra week or two to see a jam-packed well produced episode. You guys are great.
So glad you enjoyed the episode Yasmin, congratulations on your first garment!
Spent time in beautiful Colmar! So excited to see your footage.
Эндрю, Андреа! Как же интересно всё, о чём вы рассказываете! Спасибо огромное!
Спасибо!
The altar piece is stunning - thank you for the education!
Loved the interview with Julie. Am rushing over to Cocoknits to check out her products. Love the tour of the French town and seeing the altar piece and hearing about the rye fungus. And that lime green cardigan - whew. I would have chosen that one as well.
I was starting to have fruity withdrawals, yeah your back, a breath of fresh air, hugs hugs
Thanks Amanda
I loved seeing the finishing of your sweater!
I just found your podcast and really enjoyed it. Almost had a Rick Steve's travel element with knitting as a bonus!💙
Love this video. Wonderful information. Ann from Va USA 🇺🇸
