Recently found out that the 55-250 IS STM on a crop body like the M50 is sharper than the 70-200 f4L and at the borders of the image MUCH sharper. So this is only for full frame
You're welcome, Diego. The EF 70-200mm F/4 L is optically a better performing lens with faster AF, and a constant F/4 aperture throughout the range but is also much more expensive and is designed for full-frame cameras. With that being said the EF-S 55-250 gives you great performance for the value. It also has Image stabilization which will come in handy for low light shots and video. Thanks for watching.
I am brand new to cameras and I need some advice. I just bought the Canon 70D because I’m starting a RUclips channel and it’s all about makeup. I thought that I seen a big beauty guru using this lens (Desi Perkins). I am currently bidding on eBay and I’m in the lead and winning with this particular lens. Do you think this would be a good lens for me and my lack of knowledge about cameras and to use on my RUclips channel? If I’m applying eyeshadow for example then I’d need to zoom in good on my eyes as a example. But I’m to the point I don’t want to bid any higher for it because the price is getting pretty up there. Do you think that this lens is exactly what I’ll need or am I wasting my money and need a different lens instead?
Hi Kelly, this lens is better purposed for sports or for shots that are not macro, so we would recommend getting some prime lens, like the 50mm or 85mm lens, also depending on your vision of the videos, if you want to get more of the background into the video too, you could think about about a wide angle lens, like the 35mm.
I recently bought a backpack from your company. I am delighted with it and will be ordering one for my wife. Good quality, fast delivery (through eBay) and excellent customer service. I enjoyed the video but I think I would prefer the IS model of the same lens.
Would you recommend this lens for mostly landscapes, portraits and casual street photography, no plans to use it heavily in low light. Will use tripod sometimes but handheld alot. I use cropped sensor body. Will I be comfortable using the non IS? If I buy the non IS I will be able to purchase another wide angle lens ef-s 10-18mm .. Thanks!
It will work, but the range now becomes 112-320 mm because you have to multiply it by the 1.6X crop factor. I was so upset by that that I sold my 80D and upgraded to a full frame camera.
Weird question, how heavy is the lens? I am thinking about getting the non IS f/4 because I primarily shoot outside, I know this is a lot smaller than the f/2.8
Hi there! If AF in movie mode and IS is most important, then we would go with the 70-300. But, If the more relevant aspects of a lens are built quality, sharpness, and speed, then we would go for the 70-200 f/4 L.
Hello Audra McClain. This is an excellent telephoto lens that could be used for sports photography, but it depends on which type of sport you are photographing. This focal range works best for sports indoors, or anywhere you can get close to the action. Also, if you are looking to photograph indoors, you may want to look at the f/2.8 version of this lens (if it fits your budget). If I may ask, which sports were you looking to use a lens like this for?
You're welcome! I highly recommend this lens, but keep in mind that when shooting indoors at f/4 inside, you'll probably find yourself bumping up the ISO to freeze action. Take care.
thanks for the video..i have a confusion and much appreciate if you can help me. I was planing to buy a 70-200 f.28L is ii, but lots of reviewer say f2.8 and f4 giving same sharper image and some time f4 is better than f2.8. then what is the meaning of spending more $. but i love the wildlife shooting ether. So, do you think f2.8 will be more help full for me in fast focusing in low light with 1.4 extender, rather than f4?
Hi, Aruna! Both lenses are fantastic telephoto zoom lenses. What is great about the f/4 version is that its physical size and IQ. The lens is as sharp as people say. With that being said the EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS USM II will perform better in low light. It is a full stop faster. I would say that Autofocus is snappier than the F/4 too. If you are looking to use the Teleconverters, having a lens that opens to f/2.8 would be better due to the fact that the converters reduce the exposure from 1 to 2 stops depending on the converter you choose. For wildlife photos, you want to get close, and if you are looking to add the teleconverter, the 2.8 version would be the way to go
Hi Christopher, it is a nice deal you got, we recommend mastering this lens first and then moving on to a more advanced one, you do not need the IS if you will use the tripod.
Would you suggest this was compatible with the Canon 70d? And how does the Distance limiter ( the switches on the barrel ) work? Can you give more detail... Many thanks for a very clearly spoken explanation and video. Something a lot of reviewers do not do.
Thank you for the support. Yes they are compatible, the options on the limiter allow you to focus faster depending on the distance of the subject, all subjects that are closer than 4 feet you can set the limit to 4 feet, all the subjects that are further and you should set the limiter to 10 feet.
Is this still a good investment in 2020? I am struggling to choose between this lens and Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM Lens. Definitely need some suggestions. Thanks!

It is possible that my concern is also from other interested parties or clients with the purchase of one of these hi-fi equipment.
Hello Choon Doon. Even though it's designed for full-frame, the lens will work with the Canon Rebel T7. Keep in mind that the field of view will be equivalent to a 112-320mm lens. Thanks for watching!
