I don't know if that was a nod to his actual death, but if it was, then that's actually hilarious.
The "can't be killed" is most likely referencing how in Halo 2 and 3, Johnson can't be killed as an NPC.

@@ClonedGamer001 Also, it all goes back to a CE-era meme where since Johnson’s model and voice got continually recycled throughout the game, people started joking that he was just continually resurrecting throughout the game (the same technically applied to other Marine NPCs, but Johnson just happened to be the most memorable, along with Stacker and Chips Dubbo).
Sargent school and Sargent Johnson is now confirmed cannon to Red vs Blue, meaning he wasn't just a side character in the halo spinoff.
I think this was the first of RvB I ever watched. I had no idea who any of these guys were at the time but I was hyped for ODST. Few months later I went back and watched the series from the beginning - been here ever since.
My introduction to Red vs Blue (And Halo in general) was the episode where the Reds are running from Tex in the H3 forge map, back in I’d say, 2014? I was in elementary then

as much as that would be cool, i highly doubt it. RvB is pretty much dead now, so many of the main characters have been fired or no longer work for RT. hence why go the absolute abomination RvB: Zero. with only 3 members of the old cast.

You know, it's funny. They're so daunted by the dangers that await them in ODST and Firefight at this point in time, but years later, after the Chorus Trilogy, this kind of combat would be nothing to them.
I mean, not really. They fought untrained criminals with armor and guns, and two very well trained and equipped mercenaries. The Covenant is still quite a step up from there, glassing planets and all that
@@MasquedMocha not quite, while a large amount of them were untrained criminals but they also went toe to toe with the highly experienced soldiers of chorus, plus a small battalion were also highly skilled mercenaries. Nowhere near the level of Felix, Locus, and Sharkface mind you but still highly skilled
I remember hearing that during the ODST scenes they had Gavin holding off all the waves by himself and it's still really funny to think about
you know wht they should have done sarge mentions he used to be an odst they should had him do the campaing with matt hollum voicing the rookie and showing his hate for the blues came from romeo hitting him the head with a sniper rifle.

Out of all the Halo games I have played (essentially everything except Infinite) ODST will always hold a special place in my heart. I don't know why it stuck with me soo much from all the games. It was to the point that in every game I could, I would always customize my player character with the ODST armor until I unlocked the Raider armor in Halo 4. Then I just ended up using Raider armor for Halo 4 and Halo 5...though in Reach, I still went with the ODST armor with the UA helmet version and one of the robotic arm versions that fit the character. (I remember the description for the arm said "Remember that it's FEET first into Hell" or something along those lines.
I think one of the main reasons why I loved ODST so much and still do is that Halo was my main FPS that I played and it was nice to experience the Halo universe though the visor of a normal soldier and not a super soldier like a Spartan. Plus, the overall atmosphere and vibe of ODST really sucks you in. Makes me wish I knew how to play a saxophone.

I still wish ODST had online for TDM and other classics MP modes. With the more human soldier elements of the game, personally I think it would be an unique halo online experience, firefight was still a blast though!

Interesting that this 7 minute advertisement is better written and more faithful to RvB then anything (not counting the Halo Recaps and I guess the Fortnite PSAs) made in the 2020s
It's funny remembering Sarge talking about Sgt. Johnson and his dissertation on ass kicking the way he did because.... Well, in the lore that's more or less true as being an Orion operator he was more or less a Spartan 1. Rooster Teeth really were something back in the day....
Years later after looking into HALO lore (aka videos on youtube), the closet thing to Sergeant School the ORION Project, meaning Sarge might actually be a SPARTAN-I, because sergeant Johnson was also one of the candidates for the program before it was scrapped, which could also explain the mess left with Sarge's mind, because like the SPARTAN-IIs, not all survived the process, and a few others were left with disabilities (but still having sharp minds).
The SPARTAN-Is could have had a similar fallback to their soldiers, expect Sarge was left with a broken mind that only consists of military lifestyle, and breathing, plus with the amount of trauma, and augmentations, he probably repressed the whole thing as a school for honorary sergeants in training, which also explains his plans and ideas being completely ludicrous and completely ridiculous, but also outside the realm of possibilities too, thus some of his wild creations too... 🤔
Scrimmage does sound tasty now that I think about it.

This promotional miniseries becomes even funnier in hindsight when you realise that in the actual Halo canon (specifically a story from the Graphic Novel), Sergeant Avery Johnson actually DID fight and hold back an entire swarm of Flood by himself on Installation 04. So the tall tales the Red vs. Blue guys mention aren't exactly exaggerations. Well, minus the Laser Eyes of course.

Well they’re not Spartans, they’re just sim troopers.
But yeah, it is funny that they look up to ODSTs despite the fact that they technically have much greater capabilities.
@@impaler2621 Not really. Like you said, they are Sim Troopers. They aren't Spartans despite wearing Spartan armor. That was just the limitations of using what was available. At this point in the story, they didn't have any of the special abilities or whatnot that were showed later on in the series. And to be honest, none of the main Reds or Blues got any special abilities or whatnot. Those were only really centered around the Freelancers.

@@impaler2621 It's all good. I think based off of how RvB was, they never treated their armor like actual Mjolnir armor. At least, not for all the standard Sim Troopers anyway. Though once they got to the Freelancer stuff, they did make it clear that they could use special armor abilities/enhancements with the aid of an AI.

They can't do that because some of them like Geoff have said that they are done for good, while others like Jeol were fired due to numerous racial insults and acts and possibly homophobic ones as well
@@cooldog1635 When did Geoff say he was done for good? I remember he took that break back in 2017, but he came back to RT... he's just not as active. Considering he even returned in the Death Battle, I don't really think he's done for good (and I know the PSAs were recorded months in advance)
EDIT: Keep in mind I don't really keep up with RT news, but from what I heard in the past, he was simply stepping back and taking a less active role.

Remember folks, Johnson is a supersoldier, and I'm not talking about him being badass.
I always wondered why they had never gone back to filming in ODST, especially like in season 14 since they basically used every halo game that they could for the anthology. But re watching this I'm reminded how much of a bitch it would've been to film in since there's only the campaign and firefight. I can't imagine how tedious that last section took to film since they would have to do it in between rounds of covenant. Also the lowered gun animation for the ODST models does look a little funky, I'm suprised they even programed that in since it's purely for machinima. Oh and last part of this rant, I'm a little disappointed they didn't use Romeo's character model for Church since he's the sniper and all. And I think they put Grif as Buck when they easily could've used Dutch. Mickeys model would've worked for Simmons too. The only one that really works is having Sarge use Buck which is what they did. Possibly because this came out before the game was released and they only had those certain characters unlocked. Again, these are just reasons why I think they could do a solid episode or even just bits of an episode filmed in ODST, it would really add to their library of using every halo/bungie game to film in. Hell even another Marathon callback would be dope. Alright rant over.

yes, RvB Zero is equivalent with the Halo TV show, and that hurts to see, RvB has been my favorite series ever, and they really need to save the series before all the fans leave, cause RvB is just not good anymore
I think the best at least for red vs blue is to like get an entirely new cast and say like rvb ended at like season 15 or 14 if you dislike 15. Heck just make a new series that's loosely connected to rvb idk I'm just spitballing
Didn't watch the Halo TV series but I get your point, RvB Zero had potential but they took things too quickly for my taste, they could at least name it Shatter Squad because it centred around Shatter Squad with Washington and Carolina joining in the action. And I don't mind that his problem was fixed up in RvB Zero because it makes sense that they would eventually find a way to fix him up, maybe leave him having flashbacks sometimes, like he and Shatter Squad are talking and he suddenly froze and stares in the air, someone would ask if it is alright and Carolina would say: "Give him a moment, that is normal after that accident."
@@SemiCollin They are going back to basics in a sense and leaving Shatter Squad behind for the next season. They had an interview with the current producer on the RT podcast a few months back
