I think the string is meant to present the deal rather than their connection by feelings, the bind is on his finger, not to his heart, I think it is the idea of "wrapped around my finger" rather than "I've given this person my heart" and for things to have a chance of being more, he needs to break the bind that says "you must be with me or your whole plan is shot" so that Blitzo can actually choose to be there.

And in those mythologies it’s a red string tied between pinky fingers, representing a link between two souls. It’s origin isn’t always romantic as I understand it, but as it translated over to western culture (especially as it appears in fanfics), it became increasingly associated with romantic soulmates.

Stolas has made the decision to break that strand to give Blitz the choice of staying. By getting rid of all those obligations, he's trying to convince Blitz that he's not just "a means to an end"...and damn it, Blitz had better listen. That transition at the climax damn near broke me for some reason.
I think they changed it from "we both made our choice" to "I give you this choice" because stolas knows that once he gives blitz the crystal, blitz could either remove himself from stolas's life since he wouldn't need stolas anymore (which is what I say the string breaking is supposed to mean), or stay despite not needing stolas anymore. And I think the song (in this context) is supposed to be stolas hoping blitz chooses to stay

Honestly, the lyric "I will try to make amends. For making you a means to an end" hits me. The reason being that both Blitz and Stolas, in a way, use/used each other to get something they wanted. Blitz wanted the book, but Stolas truly wanted a reason to leave Stella, and used the relationship that he made with Blitz to end that. Both of them need each other, and yet both have damage, that they think will stop them from having happiness.
Paranoid DJ did a good job in writing this song. This was a lovely song and so was the animation. I hope Blitz sees what we see: that Stolas truly loves him
the best part of this video and stolas in general is that he is not one to try and make excuses for his mistakes. In this case, his recognition that despite his genuine love of Blitzo, he had been using him as a means to an end and not as a true love. He doesn't blame Blitzo for his pain or his actions nor does he get angry at Blitzo for his reaction after Ozzie's. The sadness in his recognition that he has a part to play in their current strain makes me want to root for him more.
Same! People crying is harder for me to watch than the sad stuff that makes us cry 😭 but it's also cathartic, and I went into this video knowing full well that there would be tears.
One thing I noticed is how their connection line is mostly blue and a little red, meaning stolas has been in love with blitz for a long time and blitz is just now starting too 😭. i agree it's like in blitz's perspective his relationship with stolas is a contract and he thinks he is being used as a tool and he's too afraid to share out his love with stolas due to his trauma and thinking all royals are the same but stolas is willingly in love with him since he was a kid. the only thing now is that they need to share povs and boom happiness
I find it interesting that when the string breaks, it is breaking on stolas's half alone. Not where the colors meet, it almost kinda feels like its showing that breaking things off will break stolas and that stolas was the one hilding onto the string more, cause if you notice, he had the much longer half. Meaning that once he breaks it, he most likely will lose himself in some way.

Fun fact, some of the lyrics were changed from the original song. The original can be found on PARANOiD DJ's channel and the lyrics indirectly relate more to the episodes "Ozzie's" and "The Circus" than the current plot. Plus people were emotional over the fact that it practically "predicted" how Stolas felt during "Ozzie's."
god I’m still not over this song,, It’s beautiful, just simply beautiful and honestly if you want more like this, particularly from Bryce- there are songs that he’s in on Spotify and they’re all REALLY GOOD two standout productions he’s in are Superhero and The Pantomime Life of Joseph Grimaldi both of which are emotional rollercoasters and will leave you sobbing even WITHOUT context so yeah,, this was great! and amazing reaction as always! :D
You have no idea how much I cried the first time I watched this! I heard the song from PARANOiD DJ before this and was emotional for me then too but what makes this more emotional to me is seeing Stolas so emotional while singing! Bryce always gives it his all when singing and never fails to bring Stolas to life! The animation is something that can’t be ignored! It’s beautiful in every way and every animation they release wether it’s a new episode or something else always inspires me more and more to be an animator! I also like the lyric changes they made to fit the canon for the show! They make the song all the more heartbreaking and those voice breaks that Bryce did when singing! I don't think Stolas wasn't saying that "one of our souls has to end", but rather something like "this bond on our souls has to end". He can't stand the heartache and strain of not knowing whether they can end up having a lasting relationship.

I would like to think Stolas would have this song sung or played towards the beginning of his and Blitz's relationship and when the feelings actually become understood and he accepts them, the lyrics change to what they are now to show the growth to how Stolas thought and felt before into what they are now.
The string of fate breaking, is symbolic of Stolas willing to break their connection, their contract and his pursuit of Blitz despite how much he longs for him. Its not commonly mentioned or talked about but there is an extension of the myth that a broken string of fate, where you've lost your partner, can be picked back up and tied to another, but also that the string can be broken by outside forces to keep you apart. Water is his sorrow, but also that the moon and the ocean tides are connected, the push and the pull of the tides, an intimate interaction but at a distance. Should the moon ever go too far or come to close, could be catastrophic, and that's what Stolas is feeling now. The distance and how his feelings for Blitz surges like the tides.
I think your reaction was pretty close to mine. :). This has my eyes misty in much the same way as a song from the animated movie 'Once upon a forest". One of the characters is voiced by Michael Crawford of Phantom of the Opera fame. In the movie he sings 'Please wake up' which has similar emotion as Crawford's voice cracks while singing it.

another detail I noticed was just at the end. After Stolas falls into the ocean and wakes up in his office/observatory, reaching to the ceiling, you see a glimmer in his eyes, but as the last tear falls, the light in his eyes fades away. I dont know if it was meant to be symbolism or just simple lighting but for whatever reason that part hit me hard because to me it suggested at the end he just gave up hope that things can be fixed at this point.
So my theory at the moment is that Stolas is going to give Blitz the Asmodean crystal in the hopes that they can have an actual non-transactional relationship, and Blitz is going to be super confused, unable to tell whether it's a genuine gift or whether it's Stolas telling him to leave. Drama ensues.

I never heard the song until this music video came out. I cried, my heart hurts so much! I did afterward go and listen to the original. I enjoy both, but since this fits more with where we are now I love it more. I have now watched this video several times and each time I am just struggling with tears. Add to it a recent comic n Helluva Boss subreddit that looks so clean and also heartbreaking with these too has me a mess.
I swear I've watched this video at least 20 times, and I still cry every single time. Blitzø's backstory has broken me thus far, and I can't even imagine just how deep it goes. Ever since I heard Paranoid's song, I've hoped it'd end up cannon. It's literally a dream come true, and Bryce did better than I could have ever imagined. I had first seen this video before ever even watching the show. And it STILL got me. After watching the show (several times over), it hits so much harder and I LOVE IT!!
This music video was just so good! I love the changes to bring it into canon. I really liked your comment about all the planets around Stolas towards the beginning and how he focuses on the tiny moon. It was such a wonderful symbolism of the "lowly" Blitzo being so small compared to the big players in hell and how easy imps are to overlook. After all, who notices a random moon when there are all these majestic planets and stars around. And then how Stolas ignores everything else to focus just on the moon. So intense!
I read this song as Stolas giving up on loving Blitzø, thinking that Blitzø no longer loves him, he is giving him thee choice to either completely cut ties with each other or to remain important in each other’s lives. Stolas is cutting Blitzø free from the belief that their relationship is anything but a business deal for the grimoire and their time in bed. He is giving Blitzø the chance to be free of him, whilst hoping that he will choose to come back to him. I have a terrible gut feeling that Blitzø might attempt suicide from his lack of self worth and Stolas is going to see how little Blitzø values himself, and save him from killing himself… showing Blitzø once again how much Stolas actually cares about him (without him possessing the grimoire this time though)… and finally Blitzø might open up and see Stolas for what he is trying to do. He is trying to show Blitzø all the love.

I saw this in the comment of the official video, but this whole song hits that much harder, when you realize that when Stolas first sees the miniature moon it's orbiting the Earth, but when Stolas pulls it from away, he *gives it a choice* since it isn't in the Earth's orbit anymore, and the moon *floats away* and Stolas is left chasing after it. And at the end of the song the moon is closer to the size it would be in real life, but it's still *so far away* that Stolas can't reach it before he drowns. The parallel between the Earth & moon and Stolas & Blitzø are not only very clear but very accurate and ITS GENIUS. If you don't mind me doing some overthinking, the parallels go even further when you consider the main theory that the moon was formed when an big asteroid/planet hit the Earth and started orbiting it. That would make Stolas, before he met Blitzø again for the first time since they were kids the molten, fire-y and incomplete Earth, and Blitzø the moon that after 'meeting' the Earth didn't have a choice but to stay due to it's orbit. That can be taken as the deal they made, but ALSO as Blitzø also having feelings for Stolas, and not *wanting* to leave. This song asks us (or rather asks *Stolas*) if Blitzø stays in Stolas' orbit because he HAS to, or because he WANTS to. Guess we're gonna find out in the next episode :)

It's so deeply emotional. @7:15 I see it more that the string represented the deal they had "for mutual gain" as sung earlier, and the cutting of the deal allows them, frees them to be more naturally together than having to be together bound by the demands of the earlier contract, at least that is what I hope. I feel so much for Stolas, as he above all the other characters in Helluvaboss caught my attention. I don't know how else to say it but I feel a connection to the character that I can't explain. Plus what can I say, Stolas's VA has such a wonderful voice, both speaking and singing. His voice has inspired me to get back into singing practice after a /very/ long time away.
If I am being honest the cinematography is way under rated. Literally every shot have tons of symbolism the secretly tells the story of the music. I could go on a full 5 page list but I'll leave people with 3 examples for those who like to find hidden details. 1. When Stolas talks about the expectations of his family to hold the tome, he closes the book symbolizing a closing. He's closing turning his back on the family traditions and closing the chapter of Stolas's accidental parasitic one-sided relationship. (there is more) 2. When you see blitz as a constellation after the foot in the puddle transition scene you can see Stolas looking at himself and the sky in the pool beneath symbolizing him reflecting on himself and his relationship with blitz. Stolas also sees blitz in the stars. one of the greatest honors thru ought history was to be remember as a constellation. (like seriously there is waaaaaay more symbolism I haven't touched). 3. The string tied around their pinky symbolizing a promise, and a way to never forget, a string of fate, etc... Its so much detail and foreshadowing 10/10 a picture is worth 100 words!
before you let this song make you worry so much, think about this, in the last episode, what did we see? what was the deep underlying meaning of the episode, and more importantly, what did Blitz see?
He felt guilt for using/manipulating Blitz via use of the book or buy the fact that Stolas technically "owns blitz" since stolas's dad bought blitz to be a friend (vauge mess of reasons possibilities etc.). The breaking of the thread is that "deal" or "Teather" that he tied to each other, He knows that in order to move things forward he needs to cut that teather so that stolas can show blitz he still chooses him but gives blitz the freedom to openly choose stolas back... if he realizes
The fact that they only had to change a few lines to fit DJ’s original to fit with the current story line means that he must be psychic. He nailed Stolas’ longing and turmoil before “Ozzie’s” even aired.
7:56 I’m scared about that too, because it makes me think back to Stolas’ lullaby for Octavia in S1E2, in which he sang, “And if Creation goes to die, you can find me in the sky, upon the last day…”. Could that last day, be the last day of his contact with Blitzø? Something’s clearly going down in the next episode, and we haven’t had any grave loss yet. I know Stella called off the hit on Stolas, because Andrealfus said his death would mean his rites go to the next of kin (Octavia), but I think the hole in that is if Stella puts either Octavia or Blitzø in harms way (hell, maybe both), to get Stolas to sacrifice himself. I don’t think he’d immediately die, but I think his soul could be in jeopardy to fade out of existence or something…and if Stolas is at the very least compromised, comatose, or stuck in limbo (ex. like Jeanne in Bayonetta 2), I feel like semantics would put Stella in charge of the Geisha, at least until Octavia’s 18th b-day or whenever her coronation is.

I didn’t know about Look My Way until last night, and as much as knowing some of this before hand would have been cool, it just was such a raw reaction having never heard it. But I knew. I knew he wanted to cut the deal off so Blitz has a choice. And I’m dying inside.
This isn't tugging the heartstrings. It's ripping them out , burning them and offering them up as tribute. I've watched the initial video then Elijah and Wee lass reactions and yours was the last i was waiting for. A lot of tears today. Do we know if this version will be added to Spotify? I have the original but want this version too.
I have also heard the original song paranoid dj did...and it did not broke my heart so much as this new updated version did when I first got to see it....I really hope Stolas will be able to talk to Blitz about his feelings in the next episode who will come out someday next year. But I already know that I will cry my heart out but I hope that will be of happpines and not of sadness and heartbreak.

I think he's not sure if Blitz will still stay once the "bind" is gone, which is why he's in so much pain, but he knows he has to give him the choice.
"This bind on our souls needs to end" is the lyric you keep mentioning. Stolas is offering Blitz a way out if he wants it, so he can keep doing his work without having to rely on Stolas' grimoire, thus breaking the "bind" on their souls. I hope this helps💕

Fun fact, some of the lyrics were changed from the original song. The original can be found on PARANOiD DJ's channel and the lyrics indirectly relate more to the episodes "Ozzie's" and "The Circus" than the current plot. Plus people were emotional over the fact that it practically "predicted" how Stolas felt during "Ozzie's."

You have no idea how much I cried the first time I watched this! I heard the song from PARANOiD DJ before this and was emotional for me then too but what makes this more emotional to me is seeing Stolas so emotional while singing! Bryce always gives it his all when singing and never fails to bring Stolas to life! The animation is something that can’t be ignored! It’s beautiful in every way and every animation they release wether it’s a new episode or something else always inspires me more and more to be an animator! I also like the lyric changes they made to fit the canon for the show! They make the song all the more heartbreaking and those voice breaks that Bryce did when singing! I just want to give Stolas the biggest hug! 🥺😭

I don't think Stolas wasn't saying that "one of our souls has to end", but rather something like "this bond on our souls has to end". He can't stand the heartache and strain of not knowing whether they can end up having a lasting relationship.

I would like to think Stolas would have this song sung or played towards the beginning of his and Blitz's relationship and when the feelings actually become understood and he accepts them, the lyrics change to what they are now to show the growth to how Stolas thought and felt before into what they are now.

The string of fate breaking, is symbolic of Stolas willing to break their connection, their contract and his pursuit of Blitz despite how much he longs for him. Its not commonly mentioned or talked about but there is an extension of the myth that a broken string of fate, where you've lost your partner, can be picked back up and tied to another, but also that the string can be broken by outside forces to keep you apart.
Water is his sorrow, but also that the moon and the ocean tides are connected, the push and the pull of the tides, an intimate interaction but at a distance. Should the moon ever go too far or come to close, could be catastrophic, and that's what Stolas is feeling now. The distance and how his feelings for Blitz surges like the tides.

This has my eyes misty in much the same way as a song from the animated movie 'Once upon a forest". One of the characters is voiced by Michael Crawford of Phantom of the Opera fame. In the movie he sings 'Please wake up' which has similar emotion as Crawford's voice cracks while singing it.
I do think its funny that I originally wasn't hyped about Stolas getting a new va. I liked his old voice. But man. its wild how FAST I went from that to "Yes Bryce. Make me cry you talented motherfucker."

another detail I noticed was just at the end. After Stolas falls into the ocean and wakes up in his office/observatory, reaching to the ceiling, you see a glimmer in his eyes, but as the last tear falls, the light in his eyes fades away. I dont know if it was meant to be symbolism or just simple lighting but for whatever reason that part hit me hard because to me it suggested at the end he just gave up hope that things can be fixed at this point.

So my theory at the moment is that Stolas is going to give Blitz the Asmodean crystal in the hopes that they can have an actual non-transactional relationship, and Blitz is going to be super confused, unable to tell whether it's a genuine gift or whether it's Stolas telling him to leave. Drama ensues.

I never heard the song until this music video came out. I cried, my heart hurts so much! I did afterward go and listen to the original. I enjoy both, but since this fits more with where we are now I love it more. I have now watched this video several times and each time I am just struggling with tears. Add to it a recent comic n Helluva Boss subreddit that looks so clean and also heartbreaking with these too has me a mess.

I swear I've watched this video at least 20 times, and I still cry every single time. Blitzø's backstory has broken me thus far, and I can't even imagine just how deep it goes. Ever since I heard Paranoid's song, I've hoped it'd end up cannon. It's literally a dream come true, and Bryce did better than I could have ever imagined. I cannot wait to see more of Blitzø and Stolas.

So this song came up on my feed tonight when I got home from work, and I think I've watched it 5 times in various places and I've cried every single time.

I had first seen this video before ever even watching the show. And it STILL got me. After watching the show (several times over), it hits so much harder and I LOVE IT!!
This music video was just so good! I love the changes to bring it into canon. I really liked your comment about all the planets around Stolas towards the beginning and how he focuses on the tiny moon. It was such a wonderful symbolism of the "lowly" Blitzo being so small compared to the big players in hell and how easy imps are to overlook. After all, who notices a random moon when there are all these majestic planets and stars around. And then how Stolas ignores everything else to focus just on the moon. So intense!
I read this song as Stolas giving up on loving Blitzø, thinking that Blitzø no longer loves him, he is giving him thee choice to either completely cut ties with each other or to remain important in each other’s lives. Stolas is cutting Blitzø free from the belief that their relationship is anything but a business deal for the grimoire and their time in bed. He is giving Blitzø the chance to be free of him, whilst hoping that he will choose to come back to him.
I have a terrible gut feeling that Blitzø might attempt suicide from his lack of self worth and Stolas is going to see how little Blitzø values himself, and save him from killing himself… showing Blitzø once again how much Stolas actually cares about him (without him possessing the grimoire this time though)… and finally Blitzø might open up and see Stolas for what he is trying to do. He is trying to show Blitzø all the love.

I saw this in the comment of the official video, but this whole song hits that much harder, when you realize that when Stolas first sees the miniature moon it's orbiting the Earth, but when Stolas pulls it from away, he *gives it a choice* since it isn't in the Earth's orbit anymore, and the moon *floats away* and Stolas is left chasing after it.
And at the end of the song the moon is closer to the size it would be in real life, but it's still *so far away* that Stolas can't reach it before he drowns.
The parallel between the Earth & moon and Stolas & Blitzø are not only very clear but very accurate and ITS GENIUS.
If you don't mind me doing some overthinking, the parallels go even further when you consider the main theory that the moon was formed when an big asteroid/planet hit the Earth and started orbiting it. That would make Stolas, before he met Blitzø again for the first time since they were kids the molten, fire-y and incomplete Earth, and Blitzø the moon that after 'meeting' the Earth didn't have a choice but to stay due to it's orbit.
That can be taken as the deal they made, but ALSO as Blitzø also having feelings for Stolas, and not *wanting* to leave.
This song asks us (or rather asks *Stolas*) if Blitzø stays in Stolas' orbit because he HAS to, or because he WANTS to.
Guess we're gonna find out in the next episode :)

This song has definitely brought tears to my eyes. It's so deeply emotional.
@7:15 I see it more that the string represented the deal they had "for mutual gain" as sung earlier, and the cutting of the deal allows them, frees them to be more naturally together than having to be together bound by the demands of the earlier contract, at least that is what I hope. I feel so much for Stolas, as he above all the other characters in Helluvaboss caught my attention. I don't know how else to say it but I feel a connection to the character that I can't explain.
Plus what can I say, Stolas's VA has such a wonderful voice, both speaking and singing. His voice has inspired me to get back into singing practice after a /very/ long time away.
If I am being honest the cinematography is way under rated. Literally every shot have tons of symbolism the secretly tells the story of the music. I could go on a full 5 page list but I'll leave people with 3 examples for those who like to find hidden details.
1. When Stolas talks about the expectations of his family to hold the tome, he closes the book symbolizing a closing. He's closing turning his back on the family traditions and closing the chapter of Stolas's accidental parasitic one-sided relationship. (there is more)
2. When you see blitz as a constellation after the foot in the puddle transition scene you can see Stolas looking at himself and the sky in the pool beneath symbolizing him reflecting on himself and his relationship with blitz. Stolas also sees blitz in the stars. one of the greatest honors thru ought history was to be remember as a constellation. (like seriously there is waaaaaay more symbolism I haven't touched).
3. The string tied around their pinky symbolizing a promise, and a way to never forget, a string of fate, etc...
Its so much detail and foreshadowing 10/10 a picture is worth 100 words!
before you let this song make you worry so much, think about this, in the last episode, what did we see? what was the deep underlying meaning of the episode, and more importantly, what did Blitz see?

He felt guilt for using/manipulating Blitz via use of the book or buy the fact that Stolas technically "owns blitz" since stolas's dad bought blitz to be a friend (vauge mess of reasons possibilities etc.). The breaking of the thread is that "deal" or "Teather" that he tied to each other, He knows that in order to move things forward he needs to cut that teather so that stolas can show blitz he still chooses him but gives blitz the freedom to openly choose stolas back... if he realizes
The fact that they only had to change a few lines to fit DJ’s original to fit with the current story line means that he must be psychic.
He nailed Stolas’ longing and turmoil before “Ozzie’s” even aired.

7:56 I’m scared about that too, because it makes me think back to Stolas’ lullaby for Octavia in S1E2, in which he sang, “And if Creation goes to die, you can find me in the sky, upon the last day…”. Could that last day, be the last day of his contact with Blitzø? Something’s clearly going down in the next episode, and we haven’t had any grave loss yet.
I know Stella called off the hit on Stolas, because Andrealfus said his death would mean his rites go to the next of kin (Octavia), but I think the hole in that is if Stella puts either Octavia or Blitzø in harms way (hell, maybe both), to get Stolas to sacrifice himself. I don’t think he’d immediately die, but I think his soul could be in jeopardy to fade out of existence or something…and if Stolas is at the very least compromised, comatose, or stuck in limbo (ex. like Jeanne in Bayonetta 2), I feel like semantics would put Stella in charge of the Geisha, at least until Octavia’s 18th b-day or whenever her coronation is.

I have also heard the original song paranoid dj did...and it did not broke my heart so much as this new updated version did when I first got to see it....I really hope Stolas will be able to talk to Blitz about his feelings in the next episode who will come out someday next year. But I already know that I will cry my heart out but I hope that will be of happpines and not of sadness and heartbreak.
I just hope Blitzo doesn't take it the wrong way.
