Great video! Not sure if someone already asked, but when you added the little jars into the pan and poured hot water around them, (before placing in the oven) how 'hot' is hot for the water? I have a temperature select kettle and the lowest setting to warm water is around 50c or 125f, would that be ok?
    Thanks!❤

m new to making yogurt I have a question -- I have made 3 batches from the first --- I drained two jars thru a cheese cloth (kept the whey for another project) but this made my yogurt the consistency that I love - thick/creamy. Question 1) can I use this yogurt with the whey drained to make a new batch ? Question 2) I froze a few yogurt circles to use in the future from the first batch --- are the probiotics still alive or did I kill them by freezing them - will this still make yogurt but just not have the probiotics?

I want to make thick yogurt to layer on top of granola bars, so I want to keep this in a large batch. Do you suggest I just pour the mixture into a larger bowl to let it thicken and then spoon it onto the granola bars after thickened?

But another thing u can do is turn oven on 170F for a min then turn it off. Then put your yogurt in if your house is cold i hope that helped. Thanks again.

I tried various methods to produce thickened yoghurt including using a thickening agent but I am still not satisfied with the outcome.
When I see what you did and what I regularly do, there are 2 differences
    (a) You bring the milk to pre-boiled temp and keep stirring it for some time. I suppose this is to reduce the moisture content so that you get a thicker milk
    (b) I also keep it in the oven for 8-10hrs but I do not put water in the container. What's the purpose of putting water? Does it have an impact on the thickening process?
    Appreciate your advice. Thank you

    • @BrownGirlsKitchen

Ok. Easy way. Just warm the milk. Keep it 100 just luke warm. Add yogurt mix and cover and put inside oven or somewhere warm. It should be ready in 5-6 hours.

    • @JohnUzojr
      @JohnUzojr 2 года назад +1

No. Just use plain yoghurt. You should add your vanilla extract after the yoghurt is set and refrigerated - just before consumption. This is important to prevent the vanilla at the beginning from interfering with the milk fermentation process

Let me explain how I did it. I followed her instructions to the tea and maybe you’re missing out on something.
You can use any kind of milk you want go with whole milk though.
Pour The milk into a heavy bottom pot. Slowly, bring it to 4-5 max very a slight boil. Not a full boil but just till it is just simmering. THEN TURN DOWN THE HEAT.. to like a 3 or 2 and stir for an additional 30 mins. (you don’t have to keep standing over the pot but you’re stirring it frequently so you’re checking it every two to every five minutes. YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT❤
After your 30 minutes of staring is up remove it from the heat
Let it cool down to room temperature, not cold room, temperature warm temperature you want it warm.. get your finger in it and get them on the back of your hand if it stings you it is too hot.
Once it cooled down, get your yogurt plain Greek yogurt
Dip out 2 tablespoons good size tablespoons
And put it in a cup or bowl then you take some of the milk that you get made and you added to it maybe 2 tablespoons of that milk to it and share it to give it a smooth texture…
Now add it to your room, temperature, milk. And stir it around real good.
Then transfer the full bowl of milk that you just made into a small containers..
You need a warm place.. not too warm think of a hot summer day and you can go outside around 78 to 80°F that’s how warm it needs to be I used a crockpot stay warm setting by you can use an oven
Set the containers into a pot and fill that pot only 1/4 of the way (that is half of half away) with hot water not boiling water, hot water, not warm water ,hot water.
Then cover with the lid, put pre heat your oven on 250 then turn it off.
Place your pot with your lid covered yogurt in that oven with a towel or something on top of it the keep it warm for 8-10 hours.. keep Check your oven’s temperature you might need to adjusted depending on where you live but you wanna make sure it stays warm to go to cool in there like it’s not around 80° put that thing back on 200 again for maybe two minutes and turn it off…
If you’ve done well, then you will have yogurt, thick and beautiful as mine haha!!😂love ❤
