This is the only one Green Day song that constantly gets played on my local radio stations. Not just simply 21 Guns, but this specific version.

I’ve been a big fan since the early 90’s.
I’ve tried to avoid this song for a long time though.
IDK, hard to explain. My husband and I were both army for many years.
Military brought us together and it tore us apart, I was widowed at age 32.
The same year my best friend took his last breath in my arms and I was injured in the line of duty.
Perhaps I’ve been afraid of the memories and feelings this song speaks to.
I know facing what’s difficult is the only way to begin healing.
I’m doing ok now, many veterans are not.
I’m so thankful that we’re no longer at combat in Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria.
After 15 years addressing the disgraceful suicide epidemic in the veteran community is long overdue.
25 veterans die at their own hand daily on American soil due to lack of resources.
Thank you Green Day for shining a light and being a voice for those suffering in silence.
This masterpiece verbalizes not all injuries are physical for me.
I NEEDED to hear this.
If anyone reads this please check in with the vets in your life. Many have lost any peer support and are isolated without hope.
May sound trivial but reaching out to a veteran absolutely could save a life today.

It’s so sad knowing how many vets depended on peer support groups that were closed due to Covid.
So many vets struggle to find any help and support.
Being forced into isolation makes many feel completely hopeless.
I wonder if we, the public will ever know how many people lost their battle with PTS as a direct result of losing support due to Covid.

This is the best song from the musical and it's not even close. It gives me chills every time I listen to it, almost like I'm there and living it.

October 1, 2020. I maybe 10 years late. But yes it is the first time i was able to see this. Big green day fan since 2004. I love the original 21 guns, but damn this one is great also. I'm a big metal fan here but, with what's happening now all over the world. The corona virus, natural disasters, countries falling apart. I didn't notice my tears are falling while watching this.... Hope everyone, everything will get better soon.

green day have been my favourite band for almost 16 years now, i knew about and followed everything to do with the broadway show since it was just a rumour on some message boards, i listened to this song the day it dropped, i bought and wore out the CD, i saw the show when it came to ireland, and STILL this gives me full body chills and a lump in my throat

The original is a great song.
This... This is ART. The added key changes at verse 2, the bridge and going into the last chorus bring so much more to the song, and the backing vocals behind the second half of each verse and the sheer passion of the performers elevate this to the level of sheer genius.
It misses off the heart-breaking little taunt by "Heather" over the last held chord, but hey, it's punched me in the gut enough times already...
The only way to improve on this, IMO, would be to include the guitar solo from the original version after the bridge - although I may be biased because that's what we did when we performed this back in 2019.
By far Green Day's best song and by FAR the best version of it. Really sucks that the American Idiot movie was canceled. I feel like we need that movie especially after what has happened in 2020.

GD is a huge supporter of our troops. Not combat but our troops that have been at war for 20 years.
21 Guns has a VERY somber and poignant meaning in the military.
When an fallen troop is laid to rest a 21 Gun Salute is the most poignant recognition of their sacrifice.

Those who fell in combat and our soldiers that die at their own hand.

this gives me chills. this song really gave me confidence in my singing. my show choir in middle school performed this and I got the beginning solo and I was only in sixth grade. I was so nervous but when I got up there I thought about what makes this song so meaningful and I sang it and there were people in tears. after that, I was so confident and would sing in front of people. My daughter's high school choir in Chelsea Michigan sang this in 2012. I got chills then, and still do whenever I listen to this choir version.
I started listening to Green Day when I was 7 in 2004 and honestly iv always had a little crush on Billie Joe Armstrong. When I was 13 I saw them in Toronto and he invited me on stage and I shit my pants and ran away.
That is not how I expected that story to end....
