  • In the heart of Rancho Las Margaritas, where the waves kiss the shore,
Lived a free spirit, Al Nelson, forever craving for more.
A son of the California sun, he sought a life untamed,
In Mexico's embrace, where his dreams were unchained.
With wine, women, and surf, he danced upon the tide,
Seeking peace and tranquility, with every wave he'd ride.
Material things held no sway, in Al's world of pure delight,
His soul soared with the seagulls, in the freedom of flight.
His home, a tribute to simplicity, stood firm against the breeze,
A monument to his spirit, beneath the swaying palm trees.
And there he built his dreams, with ingenuity profound,
A plane from sand and sky, where his dreams knew no bound.
Now, as he surfs the heavens, his spirit knows no end,
Circling for a landing, on waves that never bend.
Al Nelson, a cultural hero, living life on his own terms,
Forever in our memories, as the ocean forever churns.
Though he's left this earthly shore, his legacy remains,
In the hearts of those who knew him, and in nature's gentle strains.
For Al, the surfer boy, has found his eternal swell,
In the vast expanse of heaven, where his spirit forever dwells.

I am so sorry to hear hear of his passing. That airplane he built makes me feel a comparison to my own creative journey.

So sad. He built a good looking little plane. Looked like he was doing OK, what happened?

Cancer took him down, a Hurricane took his plane.
