Best British gangster films in my opinion.
Long Good Friday (1980), Villain (1971), Krays (1990), Business (2005) and Rise of the Footsoldier 1 (2007).
Best American gangster films
Bronx Tale (1993), Godfather 1 and 2. Gotti (1996) and American gangster (2007).
2nd list maybe... villain 1971.. I need check that..
My favourite Ben Kingsley quote from Sexy Beast is when he gets kicked off the plane and he turns round in the ailse and says "I hope this crashes"
🤣🤣 classic mate
This is brilliant. Really enjoyed it. More or less agree with your choices. Three honourable mentions. Rise of the Footsoldier 1. Layer Cake. Gangster No1. As for an actor not mentioned. In Sexy Beast. Ian Mcshane plays psychotic Teddy Best perfectly
No particular order…
Legend
Layer cake
Reservoir dogs
Pulp fiction
Jackie brown
Scarface
Goodfellas
Lock stock
Snatch
Black mass
With a honorable mention for the foot soldier films 😅👌🏻
Solid list mate and appreciate the honourable mention 🤣 happy new year pal!
@@CriminalConnectionPodcast chears bud and happy new year to you to. Just remember you only need one ingredient for the new years nibbles… “it’s cheese ya c@nt…!!!” 😅👌🏻

For me personally my all time favourite gangster movie has to be Once Upon A Time In America, it's a master piece, excellent directing, amazing score, amazing cast it's a flawless movie, I love it anyone who hasnt seen it needs to watch it
Great movie but WAY WAY WAY to long especially the extended cut needed at least an hour's worth cut
HATED the ending! Max fucks over everyone just so he can be a politician and be under the thumb of the mob? Was Max's idea of robbing the Federal Reserve Bank just a ruse? Don't know? That film needs a ReReEdit
Great film, it’s a hard watch, I don’t have 4hrs to sit and watch a film anymore.
Yes and American gangster, Denzel Washington
@@paulrush2792 American gangster is quality Denzel is a great actor
What I really love about casino, is at the end where everyone’s getting bumped off, they used frank callota who was the actual hitman that did those murders, lol how mad is that, he was originally the consultant for the film but Marty Scorsese insisted he did it . Genius
Tel …..I know the video dropped off before you mentioned Mesrine part 1 and 2…..Vincent Cassel leaves them all behind in the first 45 mins and the cinematography is to die for …I know Mesrine would really have been your 1 and 2
1. Casino
2. Goodfellas
3. Godfather 2
4. Carlito’s Way
5. Scarface
6. Once Upon a Time in America
7. Layer cake
8. Long Good Friday
9. The Gentlemen
10. Snatch
Very hard to pick ten movies and the rankings from 3 onwards can be changeable depending on my mood. Got to mention The Untouchables, The Godfather, and Snatch, as classics.
Top tier list mate fair play
Long Good Friday, og
Good shout
You gotta have , ‘A bronx tale’ in there man !
"I have sentimental weakness for my children. They speak when they should be listening." - Don Vito Corleone - The Godfather
Love the series mate watched every single one of em so far hopefully a lot more to come 👊🏻
Nice one Joey
I love Donnie brasco..
It’s just so spot on with everything that happened.
And cast really well
SNATCH "a bit tight, you could park a fuckin jumbo jet in there "
Classic 🤣🤣
Love this and your work. Could listen to you all day. All the best for 2024 🎉
Many thanks that’s amazing and happy new year! 🚀
Oh good fellas.... amazing
‘Once upon a time in London’ has to be no 1 😉👊🏻👍🏻
👀🎬🤣
my favorite quote from lock stock .. "you're not funny tom .. you're fat .. and look as though you should be ... but you're not" it's funnier to me because my brother is called tom and he's the one who first showed me the movie
Brilliant work mate, ❤ing this newish podcast 👌
Thanks mate
Godfather 2 not being on here is crazy
Scarface is amazing, it's a film you can watch 50 times and still pick up stuff you've missed, "You want a job, Ernie?"
Couldn’t agree more mate, absolute classic! Happy new year pal 🚀
Like and shared out in you tube community. ⌚ Wish you a Happy New year 🎉

8. City of God
9. Rise of the foot soldier origins
10. Drive
Once upon a time in America needs to be watched alone, twice.
Then you’ll appreciate it.
Good list, got to replace one with American Gangster imo
My top 10 Gangster Films.

Terry you can't leave out a bronx tale that's criminal in itself
Quotes
The long good Friday.
You don't crucify people! Not on Good Friday!
The Limey. Tell them I'm Fucking coming.
The long Firm. Teddy: " I can't abide violence."
Harry: Good thing I'm an expert, then.
Limey …great shout
My favorite gangster movies include obviously all the Rise of the Foot soldier films along with snatch in the mix and not far behind is the low budget raw real life take on Liverpool's underworld "Shooters" with Franny Bennet amongst others pretty much playing themselves. Now that would be a massive gain for your podcast if you could get Franny, Dezzie Bayliss or John Wayland on to chat with you Tel.
Would love to have any of those guys on, Happy New Year!
"If this milk turns sour, I'm not going to be the pussy to drink it?" Best line from "Lock stock..." 😅
My favourite Snatch story is that Stephen Graham wanted the part so much that he waltzed into the interview pretending that he was a Londoner born and bred, he'd developed a whole backstory for himself and kept insisting he was from South London until one of the casting team told him they'd auditioned him for something else previously and knew he was a Scouser.
Great story
Stephen Graham is a real powerhouse of an actor, he does hurt and damaged so well. It’s a weird thing to say but most of his roles make me want to grab hold of him and ask him “Who hurt you? It’s ok lad, just hug it out Bro”
Well done tell enjoy that was brilliant happy new year to you and family 👪 respect top man 👨
Happy New Year!! Thanks for the comment
Donnie Brasco is up there for me too , great film
Yeah that’s a shout. Happy new year pal thanks for tuning in 💪
Nice one, Terry. Scarface is my number 1 too, always has been and probably always will be, the soundtrack just tops it of. Some of your favourite quotes are also my favourite too - quite uncanny.
Happy New Year - can see 2024 being a banger for you.
Happy New Year Geezer, Great minds think alike!!!
Honourable mentions for Rock n Rolla. Donnie Brasco. And one of the most underrated British gangsters movies. Love,Honour and Obey.
The business should be on the list
Totally enjoyed that top man Terry
Thanks for tuning in
Fukin great listen tel getting better you are the podfather thanx for donin the wig one of the best channels period
Amazing mate thanks so much for supporting the channel 🚀
Yeah great Top 10..I would have slotted Chopper in there somewhere!!
Yes tel!!! Quality
Fantastic list. Some great films here. My personal favourite gangsta movie and one of my favourite films of all time is A Bronx Tale. Love that film.
Great film
Surprised Bronx Tale wasn't
Mentioned in the top 10,
In my opinion it is definitely gotta be one of if not the best gangster films out there
My favourite is a bronx tale
Great film, very underrated .
Massively underrated mate great movie 🍿
Long Good Friday
Thanks for tuning in mate and happy new year! 🚀
Lockstock defo higher than no.8 bro! it's possibly the greatest ...IMO! No nonsense in terms of length, great dialogue, exceptional cast, iconic, quotable, funny, complex and clever. Without hollywood input, in terms of an indie, this has gotta be probably the best of all time for me. But I am a bit biased in terms of preferring British stuff to American. Anyway, great content as always Terry x
Saying that, of course Scarface is also the GOAT. Lockstock and Scarface. IMHO
But would you also count Nil By Mouth as a gangster film?????
Thanks for the feedback mate, Happy New Year!
Bang on mate 🔥🔥
Nice one mate 🚀🚀
Bonded by blood, Essex boys , blow , black mass and all the footsoldier films i enjoy.
GOODFELLAS BY FAR THE BEST MAFIA MOVIE 🇮🇹
Firmly in the top 25 mate 🤣🚀
Nice one Turbo 👍
Thanks for tuning in mate
Love you Terry...x wish u were my brother... so cool.
Brilliant thanks x
Great Episode The Podfather, Here's my List of Gangster Movies,
10 ) Raw Deal
9 ) Cop Land
8 ) Gotti
7 ) Gloria ( 1980 )
6 ) Leon The Professional
5 ) El Mariachi
4 ) Cidade de Deus ( City of God )
3 ) The Untouchables
2 ) Layer Cake
1 ) Scarface
Not an easy task just to try to choose 10 great gangster films when there are other great films such as Mona Lisa, A Long Good Friday, face, the Govnors, and Going Right Back in Time, which is a Classic by the late Peter Sellers: The Wrong arm of the law.
The Govnors, Harley Sylvester acting in that film is absolutely phenomenal, and even though most of us know the difference between reality and fiction, I can't help to hate him every time I've watched that film lol.
1996 Danish film "Pusher" Facking quality!
what is truly amazing about that goodfellas scene you talked about is that it wasnt even in the script...joe pesci improvised and the director just let it roll..thats why first few seconds the rest of the actors looked a bit surprised...
by the way training day is the ultimate gangster movie
Training Day was epic!
Poopinass
My top ten favourite gangster movies:
1. Goodfellas
2. Scarface
3. The Godfather
4. Casino
5. New Jack City
6. Snatch
7. Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
8. The Godfather Part II
9. Carlito's Way (I consider this a Pseudo sequel to Scarface as Al Pacino is playing a Latin immigrant trying to escape his criminal past. Directed by Scarface director Brian De Palma). I consider Carlito Brigante a reformed mature Tony Montana.
10. Road to Perdition
Honourable Mentions: The Departed, American Gangster, Get Carter, The Business, Sexy Beast, Rise of the Footsoldier, King of New York and The Untouchables.
👍
Scarface is one of my faves ❤ seen it so much. Will never get bored of it 😊 say hello to my l friend 😅
Say Hello to the Bad Guy!
No 1 has got to be Carlitos Way, all the best Terry to you and your family for the New Year 🕛🎊🎊🎉🎉
It’s up there mate. Happy New Year 🎉
Evening Podfather
Long good Friday
Can’t argue with that
@@CriminalConnectionPodcast hope u got films coming out in 2024 as there is fuck all British gangster films about to many low budget shit shows...mind u a good film I watched was bull staring Neil maskel who was in the football factory
Steven Bauer who played Manny, Tony’s sidekick in scarface…went on to play Don eladio the Mexican cartel boss in breaking bad!
And ari in ray Donovan
Every film already mentioned is pure box office 🍿👌🏻. Lately, I've been watching black mass and donnie brasco every other day. Love them both! Free on prime lol. But another one no-one has mentioned is "Kill the Irishman". Absolutely brilliant true story film about Danny greene. Great cast too. Would highly recommend.
Lastly, there's a documentary called "Making of the Mob". Season 1 is about New York - Lucky Luciano and season 2 is Chicago- Al Capone. This is narrated by the late and great Ray Liotta. It goes through how it all started till the very end. It has a brilliant cast and the whole thing is better than some mob movies I promise! Deserves an Oscar. Would very highly recommend this masterpiece. Anyways, gonna watch the fantastic Depp in black mass now. Have a great new year 🎉 🍻 ❤
Wow amazing shouts mate, thank you for the recommendations and also for tuning in! Only comment I’ve seen on Kill the Irishman class mate 🚀🎬
@CriminalConnectionPodcast no worries mate and thank you for the great podcast 👍🏻
just for fun, I did a scene with Ray Liotta as an sa years ago smoking a cigar next to him. Guy Ritchie fim. Was a lovely privilege ❤️
Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. " CHILL WINSTON "
Once upon a time in America, A Bronx Tale and number one for me is Godfather Part 2. Awesome. Also, watch Michael Francezes podcast Terry. Tony wasn't murdered in a field like in casino but actually in a house. The field was made up. Excellent podcast m8. Really enjoying it
Nice one fella appreciate your feedback and support!
There's no way Godfather 3 is above Part 2.
The offer is a must watch its amazing fingers cross the director dose the longest yard next
Great watch it's British gangster films for me the business being number one one you may have missed a Bronx tale👍
Yeah that’s a shout mate! Thanks for watching
My first 2 have never changed since the 80's but here's my 10 at present:
1) Get Carter
2) The Long Good Friday
3) Goodfellas
4) Pulp Fiction
5) Layer Cake
6) Villain
7) Reservoir Dogs
8) Performance
9) Casino
10) Snatch
Loads more obviously that could pop in and replace others like Lock Stock, The Godfather trilogy, Scarface etc. but never the top 2!

Not referring to the movie but the tv series, gomorrah is well worth a mention. Great to see sexy beast in the top ten, great line from the film that features the word insinuendos. Keep up the great work Terry.
Thanks for commenting and I will do, Happy New Year!
Yeah it's hard to whittle it down to just 10. In no particular order:
Godfather II & I (second one is better)

Snatch
Lock, Stock
Sexy Beast (Ben Kingsley was phenomenal)
Gangster Number 1 (underrated)

….. but kinda trying to put one together myself called - UP NORTH ,
It’s really gritty / violent with a really powerful message within the conclusion - ……
Within the story there’s a character known as the southern connection ( a crazy dangerous underworld figure)…. I think you terry stone would play this character perfect , as you was so good at playing an out off control aggressive tucker -
Think of a northern version of Footsoldier & you know where I’m trying to go with it 💯
Great Top 10!
Brilliant cheers , terry dont suppose you need a extra for any upcoming film do you 😉
Great choice. I’m surprised pulp fiction isn’t mentioned. Thanks for the podcast. ❤
That was my bad should have been in the Top 10!!
Would definitely have donnie brascoe in there ,, godfather 2 ,, and bronx tale 👍👍
All the best for the new year
Happy New Year!
Hi Terry what u think of The Departed? And have u seen the series The Sheild I think that's one of the best crime series ever. Anyway happy new year mate
Departed it top tier mate 👌 I’ll have to do a top 50 at this rate 🚀
The Godfather Part 3, Felt more like a ''TV Movie'' a mob boss trying to get a coat off a hanger and shouting ''its my lucky coat'' while the place is being shot up, spoiled the movie for me. Number 10 is a good place for it.
The Godfather part 1 is a masterpiece and would be closer to number 1 for me.
Carlito's way is a classic and gets over looked.
I'd of put Layer Cake in there too. But Great list!
Thanks mate
Come and say hello to my little friend
Thanks Terry
Wishing you a very happy new year
Happy New Year!
Sterling choices Tel, however, for me the Godfather is head and shoulders number 1, with the 1996 TV movie Gotti with Armand Asante at number 2. Keep ‘em coming Paisan 👌
Thanks for tuning in mate. Great shout, I might have to do a top 50 next 🤣

Mean Streets wasnt mentioned......I read somewhere that the trilogy of Mean Streets - young guys on the peripheral of the mafia. Goodfellas - street guys close to the main action. The Irishman - end of life - summarised Scorseses 'whole of life' journey for people at the age of 50 like me.
Anyway, thanks for the upload.
