I had an iron infusion two days ago and today I feel absolutely awful, just like you described I feel like I have the flu! I’m aching all over, high temperature, no appetite. Can’t wait until it subsides 😞
Great Video. I did have 2 Iron infusions myself and it is absolutely normal to feel flue like afterwards, I did for 2-3 days, just very tired. All that Iron is first stored in the liver where its then slowly incorporated into red blood cells, so it can take up to a month to get the great effects,. Overall I am so glad I did it. I also had a B12 injection with it, for anyone vegetarian, that is also important. I do have a combined B vitamin supplement I am taking from now and then, so Folate is not getting too low. I used to struggle with belly aches and bloating taking iron supplements, but learned that some work better than others, I am currently taking gyno-tardyferon and I do not have any side effects with it. Keep in mind its high dose, 80mg a tablet :) I hope this could help someone
Yeah, my dr told me to take dissolvable b12 2500mcg (but I could only find 5000mcg, doc said that is fine) and folic acid 800 mcg. Starting my 3 iron infusions tomorrow. 3 Fridays in a row.
@@KerryGiggles Hey yes it helped but it’s something pulling it down believe it’s gyn related. Just had egd/colonoscopy on Monday & I still hv gastritis, & found a hiatal hernia 🤦🏽♀️ I hv to hv may gall bladder tested too. I’m still having bouts of muscle weakness here & there. Rheumatologist tested a lot of things auto immune related all negative.. Emg muscle test & pelvic ultrasound is next up.
I think you can get an IV of B vitamins including folate. I’m really nervous about doing an infusion as I hear it’s very hard on the body and you can gain weight. Let me know if you gained any weight or got puffy after?
I can answer this because I had an infusion about seven months ago, and the reason why you gain weight is because they plummet your leptin levels, which is a hormone that tells you that your satiated or full after you eat I was already gaining weight from being anemic, but the infusion dropped my leptin levels to a two which is extremely low and I gained even more weight. It was horrible and the infusion caused more problems than it was worth- three weeks later my ferritin already dropped back down to a 16 which is just a few points away from being clinically anemic, so it was absolutely not worth, the weight gain, and the major fatigue that I felt after getting it -it was useless. my hemoglobin didn’t even raise. I did my own B12 injections with methylcobalamine at home and it was only after that that my hemoglobin jumped a lil bit so I would say don’t do the infusions. There might be different manufacturers or brands where it is a more pleasant experience, but this was mine and it was horrible and I don’t recommend it. my anemia is largely brought on by extremely heavy. So at this point since I’ve tried everything including high-dose, iron tablets, I will be looking into endometrial abrasion to stop my periods or should I say my uterine lining from shedding and perpetuating the anemia through monthly blood loss.
More likely your problem with absorption of your vitamins and minerals from foods is that you have low stomach acid You can do either apple cider vinegar or HCL WITH PEPSIN Please do a research Hope this helps!
Hey Kerry, New time watcher - your videos are lovely and informative! I'm currently suffering with extreme anxiety/breathlessness and palpitations - wondering if you had any of that when your folate/iron was low? Currently waiting on blood test results... I was diagnosed with a double whammy of SIBO & H.pylori a month ago, so took some medication and am now on a low-FODMAP diet to combat it. Defo think there are some links here, i hope you feel better soon! Any tips/advice would be fab ❤ Annie x
Hi Annie, I know it's been 1 year since your comment, but I wanted to tell you that I had similar symptoms when my hemoglobin is around 7 and my ferritin is lower than 3. Heart palpitations, dizziness, blurry vision, hair loss, cold hands and feet, insomnia, bowel irregularities and even limb numbness. I hope you are feeling better these days.
Sounds like Hypophosphatamia (HPP). Iron infusions, especially ones using injectafer brand iron can cause this issue of constantly low phosphorus. It can last two years and be a horrible issue to deal with.
I'm happy for you dear. I just want to know what caused you anemia is it endometriosis or something else. Do you think that your iron level is better because of that surgery you had. Coz I suffer from severe anemia and heavy periods
thank you for sharing this experience with us. I did iron infusion too 3months ago the result now is very high numbers, ferrintin is 170 and I think it's too high. I wonder if this happens to everyone? would you share your levels after the infusion?
@@SkinnyLegend916 I didn't feel sick but I did feel different and not necessarily better. I had pain on my left side kidney area that I never had before the infusion and my doctor dismissed it. They said it wasn't related. My levels normalized eventually and after one very heavy period dropped on the lower side but hemoglobin is still in normal low range. But my ferratin went way down. Overall I feel better but I picked up weight also. I think due to my better appetite now that I am no longer anemic. So keep all in mind. If you can avoid an infusion I would. I was bleeding way too heavy so had no choice at the time. Hope this helps
@@KerryGiggles thanks for replying, i had iron infusions which raised my ferritin levels but increased my hair fall many folds.. i got infusions just to stop my hair fall but it didn't stop it instead hair fall increased... What was your experience, did your hair fall increased after the infusion??

You need to focus more on sleep, water and sugar these are What keep your blood alive, do not restrict carbs and reduce your fat and oil intake Try to drink 1L of water 30mins before your 3 meals and also again after dinner
Reduce your dairy, meat and egg intake also and you may find your red blood cells have a longer life span, don’t restrict calories tho make sure to calculate you eat 2250calories each day minimum

Wondering if there is a genetic component to this given I am 100% British ancestry and so many women who are, are suffering with the same issue.
How are you now? Was it worth it? Any long term issues from the infusion?
Thanks for your video.

I tried both and yes I think I do have low acid but neither of those helped. The only thing I am low on these days is folate.
Agreed

Thanks for the info. Did you take Infed or an Injectofer Iron Infusion?

Thanks for commenting. I heard drinking too much before meals dilutes your stomach acid so they advise not to do this.
I know a few carnivores that tell me the same thing but to remove fruit and veg.
So much info out there to support both sides.

Bloods, maths. Why do british add unnecessary s's to words lol. But glad to hear youre doing better :)
