I know this is probably not what you are interested in doing but it would be very appreciated if you can do a video on how to create useful fm sounds (pianos, brass, guitars, “classic” synth sounds, etc). It is great that you made this video on how to use this fm synth but many people like myself don’t know how to make actually useful fm sounds. It would add a lot of value if, in addition to showing the functions of this synth, you also show how to make actually useful sounds
@@XNBeatsMusic That is very much appreciated. While there are a lot of very good videos like this that go over how fm synthesis works, it is a struggle to find content on how to make “useful” sounds with fm. I look forward to that video

This is the tutorial I was looking for. I bought the Opsix on impulse, knowing nothing about it other than it was an FM synth, but I'm so glad I bought it. This thing is deep.
Thanks for the comment !! Yes...it is a workhorse synth. Whatever you conventional subtractive synth cannot do, this will. I use like that, use classic synths but there is always some sound where I need to go FM. And if I cannot get the sound I want from my subtractive synth, I go to Opsix or Hydra and get it....
I'm only five minutes into this video, but I had to stop, come to the comment section, and thank you. I can already tell this is going to be so invaluable to me. I'm about 5 minutes away from returning my Reface CS to buy an OpSix, and this video is making it more likely!
Hi! This is really a great guide! I love this synth beause, being totally blind, it's really accessible for me and the possibilities of creating sounds are limitless; I love FM synths and this is my favourite of all time. Thx really very much for this videos for the OPSIX; i'll keep them as a great sort of audio manual; great job, really.
Great presentation. Very interesting with both FM and subtractive synthesis. For example Massive X has several FM options but it's not a full-fledged FM synth like Opsix.

Thanks man, hope you like it. It's was really hard to plan like the Wavestate. But yeah once you understand the modes, you've got millions of sound there.
Congratulations !! Hopefully you are not one of the ones that got the not working screen. That whole thing really killed the vibe or this mega sale....and KORG's image.
@@XNBeatsMusic Thanks! I bought mine from Facebook Marketplace since reverb cancelled my order due to wrong inventory #. Got it for 400 in brand new condition. It's a win

Very timely post. Korg just had a flash sale, and I got in on it. Ordered last week and hoping to take delivery this Sunday (must've been slammed at the warehouse). I'm very happy to have your guidance as I begin my journey into this baroque hall of mirrors.
hello. it was a coincidence. Imagine all the planning, recording and editing take lots of time. So when I was finish recording this I read at synthopia they were on sale. Well, ratios are part of this, so knowing how they work pitch the operators to what you want is a must. I like that "journey into this baroque hall of mirrors", well the synth can do A LOT so it is a journey for sure.
Great Korg Opsix tutorial. I was lucky to buy one from Korg Reverb store. My Opsix will be delivered next Wednesday (08/10/22). I already have an empty keyboard stand setup awaiting its arrival. And now with knowledge from this Tutorial I will have a head start for editing sounds on Opsix.
I just got one from that sale. Apparently many people have received units from that sale that have defective screens. My screen is black. What looked like a great sale turns out to be Korg unloading a lot of defective units. Very cynical of them and an odd thing to do to your customers. They can be sent back for refund or possibly repaired under warranty. That of course depends on if the screens are available. The global parts shortage might affect this. Very peeved at Korg for this. The synth is excellent though. I’ve gotten quite a bit out of it without the screen and without knowing exactly what I’m doing which is my fave way for learning a synth. I hope that you get one with a good screen.
@@enphour7960 You’re very lucky. That really makes it an exceptional deal. It’s an amazing synth. I wasn’t looking to buy it but for the money it was worth a shot as I love my Wavestate. It turned out to be quite a surprise. Even with a dead screen I managed to make some incredible bits of music with it. It reminds me of the types of sounds Brian Eno got on The Shutov Assembly.
Hello friend, I am writing to you from Chile, when I update my opsix to 2.0.1 I stop having a connection with the sound library, I tried changing USB between NCM and RNDIS but there is no communication between the PC with WIN and the Korg. I'm thinking it would be nice to go back to 2.0 but how do you do that safely? Thank you so much
Just ordered this thing after watching over an hour of this video. I started watching in the hope that it would confirm all of my anxiety towards FM and keep me from wanting the opsix. Well, that didn't work. ;-)
Hello thanks for your great videos and this one in particular as I bought one last week. Is there any editor in project by somebody ? This is badly missing cause even with shift function we can read values, we are blind for the full picture when we switch from one program to another...
Thanks for putting this together. I'm curious about the logos or little drawings appearing in little boxes from the algorithm page have for every operator... Does it refer to the type of operator? Like FM, filter, effect, etc... or is it just a pure design decision?
Hello. I have a Wavestate with customisable knobs on it, and hands on control for many things. I'm planning to buy the opsix too. But I'm not so happy with menu diving, and page related buttons to do the job. In the midi implementation chart it stets what are the mapping for fire cutoff, resonance and fx levels, even some basic envelope stuff. So that's a good start to control it with external gear. However other parameters are not mentioned, and then there is 1--119 assignable to Patch. So if I want to control for example LFO1,2,3 or the pitch of some operators, in order to have them mapped, I have to sacrifice a V-patch slot from the 12 in order to be able to use an external midi gear? Isn't there some default mappings, or isn't there a menu to do the mapping? After all the librarian software is handling all the pot-meters instantly, I know it's probably not over midi :(. So if you have any clue how to have this issue resolved, I would be very interested.
I have a home recording studio and the OpSix has rounded out my arsenal. I’m using the sequencer as a form of backing tracks for various projects but sure I’m not fully utilizing the function. Question: if you have a particular sequence in let’s say C major, and you would like to add a alternate bridge sequence in A minor. Can you form two (2) sequences in alternate keys..? Really appreciate your time and dedication to the OpSix subject matter. Very useful
It would have been cool if there was an integrated oscilloscope as there is a frequency analyzer inside the Opsix to have a visual feedback as you show us!
for some reason i can't sync LFO to the tempo :( when i switch the mode to "ON" it just does nothing, while when it's "OFF" everything works as it's shown here. anyone know what's the matter? would appreciate ur help guys..
yes all hardware, gives you usb to control the keyboard, sync to the daw and updates. But sound comes out of the 1/4 line outputs. This is standard, you need to connect the audio outs to your interface.
@@XNBeatsMusic I'm affraid I made mistake, following OPSIX manual I bought MIDIFLEX 4 MIDI interface instead of Audio interface. Now I'm only able to send MIDI signal and use it as MIDI controller.
