    Thank you. I had an aftermarket headlight on one side that had a different metal clip. Kind of triangle shaped. With only one hold down. I was able to secure the retainer in place and just kind of bend the clip a little bit to get the LED to fit in and lock, and then I rotated it with the wire pointing downwards at 6 o clock

      @@FloridaVanMan watched it a few times. Thanks. So basically aftermarket headlight manufacturers, including the hid headlights, are probably not going to be good enough. I recently put in LEDs and now I see why you recommend them with the hella OEM headlight housings.

    Why does it say in the video description "LED bulbs in our tail lights cause problems"....what are the problems? Thanks for clarifying

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Год назад +2

      Improper resistance in the tail light circuits will crash the CAN-bus network and illuminate 3 or 4 lights on the dash, disable cruise control and anti-lock brakes.

      One of them would not let me adjust it and it made a popping sound and I literally had to take it all apart and fix that plastic sliding piece in order to adjust the headlights and that made me really upset cuz I shouldn't have had to do that

      Yes, and it is pretty easy, although I don't remember the details. Removing two fuses from under the driver seat, I think. What does motor in headlight housing do? Thanks 👍

    • @thetangster
      @thetangster 2 года назад +2

      The motors raise or lowers the headlight beam. There’s a dial switch on the dash that controls it.

    • @energyideas
      @energyideas 2 года назад

      @@thetangster thanks, had no idea

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 года назад +1

      Adjusts the aim of the headlights up and down to compensate for heavy loads tilting the van up in the front. When the headlights age the beam gets so blurred we can't see any difference, but when the lights were new there was a definite line on the road where the top of beam met the asphalt. These new lights will restore that feature but if you don't hot-shot heavy loads you probably won't use it.

    • @energyideas
      @energyideas 2 года назад +2

      @@FloridaVanMan Sure enough I parked with the back wheels higher and at dusk put some pine cones where the top of the headlights reached and then adjusted it from 0 to 1 to 2 and increasingly the headlights move downward and then went back to zero move back upward so my 2004 van motors in the headlights still work. Thanks.

    Sorry for the dumb question, but can I use my existing headlights and just replace the bulb to LEDs? Not sure if you had to buy aftermarket lights inorder to use LEDS
    thanks

    • @johnvlai
      @johnvlai 2 года назад

      Yes, just buy the correct bulbs so you dont blind oncoming cars

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 года назад

      Yes and no. It will work and your headlights will glow, BUT the reflector in the back of your headlight and the bumpy lens at the front are designed for a spherical glowing bulb and the LEDs have a top & bottom that glow, so your beam on the road ahead of you is going to be unpredictable. You might irritate oncoming drivers or might not have enough light. Our stock headlights have too many variables especially in the "focused lens" front on the headlights. Only way to know how LEDs will work in your van is to try them. All that said, if your current headlights are foggy or yellow the focus* will be non-existent and the light will be spread wide and high, which means it is dim on the road in front with much of the light wastefully shooting into the trees.

      @@FloridaVanMan Does this mean you wouldn't recommend the upgrade shown here in the video?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 года назад +1

      @@kyletrafas2869 I suggest replacing the lens when switching to LED. Your original lens or replacement installed by a previous owner may not work well with LED, especially if the lens is yellowed or foggy. I don't have a lot of experience with this but I know the replacement lenses from MillionMileSprinter work well with LED and there are some lens versions that don't.
      If you are looking for improved headlights, just changing bulbs will probably be underwhelming. Changing the lenses will make a big difference and adding LED will increase that difference. When changing only the bulbs there is a chance** the combination with your lenses will make things worse, not better. Only way to know for sure is try it. Park about 10 feet from a wall and look at your projection before and after replacing the bulbs.

      Good point but just to be clear, MillionMileSprinter is not our brand. We share a passion for Sprinters and are good friends. I buy trusted parts from them and advise others to do the same. They share our videos to help with installation, so we fit together nicely. I've been working on my own Sprinters for 17 years but Joel has been helping others much longer than I have.

      So there is no upgrade for the high beam at all??
      Are the low beam LED’s much brighter than the standard? I do allot of night driving here in Australia, I have both LED spotlights and light bar, when I dim my lights for oncoming traffic, the low beam is ridiculously low!
