Never have i ever expected that there will be a day that a poem will be read here in Filipino. Every stanza gave me chills, and the emotion is just ridiculously strong in its story telling. Made my jaw drop. Wow.

I wish there was a way to fully translate the depth of pain being expressed in this piece. *"Mahalaga"*, in our language, denotes both attachment and value that goes beyond the constraint of physical form. *"Ako ay mahalaga"* is an affirmation of the self. Powerful and restorative. A sentence I often wrote, and read, on letters for group therapy sessions. So much meaning to be conveyed in one word. Thank you for giving breath to this poem xoxo

What a heartbreaking and powerful poem. Thr cadence between the Tagalog speech and the English words made me feel like I could somehow understand, on a personal level, what the Narrartor was feeling- despite the language barrier.

in filipino? no way this is real
the first line reminds me of the film "billie and emma" which is also about being queer in the philippines and more specifically, being a student in an all-girls catholic school in the 90s.
"sinusubukan ko lang kasing makibagay."
