    As an irrigation tech, I can say with confidence these things are saving not just money but also systems in general. We had a job that was once pumping from a lake and they decided to switch over to potable city water. The system was built around pump volume and pressure so there were 15 heads or more per zone. While the current boost pump works well with pressure, the volume isn't there, so the heads would spray for a moment but then lose water volume and pressure and drop. I went around the property and switched nozzles from the standard sprays to these MPs. It brought the system back to life and they propped up and sprayed great. Match these up with the pressure regulated Hunter pop-up sprinkler heads and it's a nice combo. We have been going this route a lot at work.

      I converted a hunter MP system over to the Rain Birds.... When the city lowered our pressure from 60 PSI to 50 PSI my system quit working. When I turned on this particular zone with the rain birds My PSI dropped from 50 to 20 and barely worked if at all. Once I put the hunter MPs back on my PSI before and after turning it on state at 50. The Hunter MPs are superior!

    I recently changed all my sprinkler heads to these MP Rotators according to distance and angle. Having a full, beautiful Saint Augustine yard in North Texas, these heads nearly killed my lawn. I spent 2 weeks working on adjusting watering time lengths as well as number of waterings allowable. With head-to-head coverage on a 2 day per week schedule and adjustments of 7 to 15 min lengths depending upon each zone needs, they just didn't put out enough water to keep my lawn alive. They kept more water on the lawn during the wind, but even still just didn't give the grass enough to survive. The streams are short in some areas and longer in others, but that distance change does not happen fully around the head leaving the grass directly ahead or to one side or the other not getting as much water as the rest. Sadly, I now have 60 heads or apx $350 of sprinkler heads I can't use. Make sure your lawn can survive the change and be sure to note if they are returnable if unable to properly deliver the watering needs of your lawn.

    • @ShortCutLawn
      @ShortCutLawn  2 года назад +2

      7-15mins? That’s not gonna cut it with this heads. MP rotators puts out very little water compared to a traditional spray heads.
      I run mine at Two 25min cycles twice a week (per zone).
      MPs and other similar heads are very efficient on putting down water and reducing run offs, I don’t think it’s the MPs fault that you’re st aug nearly died, you just need to increase your run time, how long? You need to find that out yourself with experiments. Good luck.

    • @dcfrank9326
      @dcfrank9326 2 года назад

      I was wondering if there was a “dead zone” near the spray head. Seems like it. I’m struggling with that area with my traditional spray heads too.

    • @ShortCutLawn
      @ShortCutLawn  2 года назад +1

      Technically a spray head can’t cover its 0” to let say 6” area, it’s the other spray heads job to cover it, thats why it is very important to have a good “head-to-head coverage” 👍🏼

    • @JEK

      @@ShortCutLawn Yes and if you're lucky, you may have more than 100% head to head if other heads are hitting each other as well. If that makes sense.I have some sprinkler heads that are getting hit by 2-3 other heads to ensure no dead spots.

    • @JEK
      @JEK 2 года назад

      You need to measure how much water you are actually putting down. If you were watering with traditional sprinklers and it took 10 mins., well with rotators you likely may water for 30 mins or longer, depending on how long it takes your cycle to measure .5".

    • @ShortCutLawn
      @ShortCutLawn  4 года назад +2

      Each nozzle has multiple streams and each stream goes out in different distances, the closest one i think is about 8 inches. If you have good head-to-head coverage then the other head will cover the first 8 inches of each head.

    Awsome video thank you! I think this is my next move. I live in the high desert where a) it’s windy and b) we have more sand and clay than ideal so run off and absorption would be improved with these heads. Have you noticed any difference/improvement in short range coverage? I’m using 6-12 foot heads to cover a 6ft long area (something like that) and the outer limit (6ft away) gets good water but the shorter distance (1-3 ft) don’t get as much. Do these rotating heads provide equal water from 0 feet from the head to the outer limit? Or same as standard head? Thx!!
