  • This virtual training provides an overview of military culture to include: 1) Organizational structure, rank, branches of service, core values, and demographics 2) Similarities and differences between the Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard components and their participation in current conflicts 3) Basic overview of combat related disorders, military sexual trauma, and coping strategies 4) Strengths and stressors related to military life, deployment and transition to civilian life for both the military member and for the family, to include children 5) Overview of military and veteran suicide and prevention efforts. The training was made possible through a partnership between DBHDS and the Virginia Department of Veteran Services and is intended to assist state agencies, community partners and behavioral health providers in better understanding, communicating and effectively interacting with military members, veterans, and their families.
