I'm sure glad to get this video finished and up for you guys. Its my son's birthday today. He's turning 6. I started this channel just before he was born and I didn't take it seriously until he was about a year old. Then I kicked it in gear and started producing a better quality video. It's more time consuming than I ever thought it would be but it's been worth it, for the most part. It doesn't pay worth a damn but the rewards come in different forms and I sure appreciate you all hanging in there!
Happy Birthday to your baby! 6 is an awesome age and you better hold tight--after 6th grade, it goes down hill fast and before you know it, he'll be asking for your car keys! We appreciate you for not stopping and selflessly taking out time to record and share your delicious recipes with us!
Your channel is da-bomb bro, anyone that knows anything about cooking knows you’re the real deal. Happy Birthday to your son, 6 really is a great age. 👏👏👏
It’s nice being able to see how to do it on a normal electric stove and not use a bunch of high dollar equipment. Thanks for taking the time to do this and staying true to the name steak turned out amazing 🔥
Haven't had one in years! Prices are insane but I used to cook a thin sliced potato and onions in the skillet as I like my steak well done! Bigger skillet! Steak, potato and onions!! OMG! Stomach just moved and growled at the MEMORY! WOW!😋😚
My husband made this tonight and I found the recipe and I just have to say it is amazing. It was a great pick me up during election day and pandemic and all the other crap going on. Going to check out your website to see if there’s anything else we can do as I am a horrible cook (I can’t pop tarts on fire and breadsticks on fire) and I’m not very good at much stuff kitchen wise. But my husband is a chemist so he’s pretty good at this stuff. Thanks againFor posting this and it was delicious to the nth degree.
This was by far the BEST steak I have ever made and had in my life...also never thought to save the juices as a dip...UNBELIEVABLE! thank you for sharing.
I once made french fries by pan trying them on oil that I melted beef fat in. Not the healthiest thing, but I liked my "steak fries". Used them for lomo saltado, my FAVORITE dish ever! Fun to cook and eat.
That’s exactly the way I cook mine but I usually use either red/white onions or red/green bell peppers but next time I’m definitely gone use the rosemary and 🧄 cloves... That was awesome
I ask for au jus at every restaurant that I eat steak. And if they don't have it sometimes I don't even want the steak anymore. But juicy steaks are the key!!! 😋😋😋😋
We only recently learned about the sear and roast method for steak. It works great. But you just showed how to make this even better! Man, that is one fantastic looking steak. We will definitely be trying this. Thanks!
This video is a godsend. I've tried several other recipes for ribeyes on a skillet and this is by far the best. Loved how my dinner turned out! Also the narration is very soothing :) thanks!
Well, your son should be just about 7 years old now, so I'm wishing him a happy, healthy birthday!🎈🎂🎁 Thank you for this recipe, the steak is perfectly cooked (for me); it's medium leaning towards medium rare, pink and juicy inside. Most of the time when I see a steak video and they say it's medium rare, it's so rare it's practically mooing. Also, your voice is very soothing and relaxing in these difficult times. Thanks again, take care!
Thank you very much for the kind words. My son, of course, means the world to me. He's such a good boy and, yes, he is 7. He and his sister are very much looking forward to going back to school. Hope you enjoy this recipe.
Tried my hand at pan-searing ribeyes on a cast iron skillet. Abject failure due to pan not being hot enough (until it was too late) and the bowing of the fat cap as you mentioned... really wish I'd seen your video first! Gonna try again now. Thanks!
I just subscribed and love it. I watched your video during a panic attack from hell and for some odd reason your voice soothes me back to reality like watching some old Bob Ross paint some happy little trees. Keep it up man.
I made my bf a steak, but used avocado oil and it came out delicious juice and tender! The whole time I was nervous think I may make a rubber chew toy, but then my boyfriend say hmmm! That's bomb! Lol
Ribeye is so expensive. I just had hamburger tonight but twenty bucks would be so worth it to have a nice steak like that! Butter is wonderful but I made bone broth a couple of months ago and the tallo I rendered from it was slightly yellow and rich colored. Whenever beef is too lean butter really is necessary or homemade tallo from nutritious meaty marrow bone stew. Fat and protein balance. Whoa this must have smelled fantastic with fresh garlic. What a great cut too.
Yeah, unfortunately those prices keep going up and, it's only going to get worse before it gets better, thanks to gas prices and this POS president! I filmed this a few years ago, when steak prices weren't too bad!
@@PMGK Thanks for the answer. I love interacting with people who make videos and I am grateful that you produce them. I also agree that modern life is based on fossil fuels. Without cheap energy we would not have any luxuries. Cattle are finished on grain today but in the past ate only grass. So while everything is going to go up, cattle deliver value that can't be replaced. The plant based notion is that eating plants directly is more efficient and that is true, except in the case of grass. Ruminants will always have a niche. Should industrial farming shrink the ground left behind will likely turn to pasture. We can only hope that it will be enough to feed the masses.
I just had the best ribeye I've ever cooked myself and trust me I've burned steaks every which except with lightning. I just put about 1/4 stick of butter and my favorite spices in a frying pan with a lid and lightly browned on medium high ,pretty much rare and it was some kinda good .
That steak looked SO huge at first - then your HANDS came into picture! Lol How quickly that meat shrunk! Looks absolutely delicious! Thanks for this recipe
It depends on the thickness of your steak. Sear: Medium heat, 1 minute per 1/2 inch of Steak thickness Example: 1 inch steaks get 2 minute’s of sear per side Bake: 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 to 6 minutes or until internal temp reaches 120 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
I think most folks appreciate a good crust on a tender steak and to achieve that you've got to add a nice sear. A flat cast iron or, in my case, stainless steel pan mixed with garlic and rosemary seasoned olive oil, helps the steak achieve that crisp crust and it adds a ton of flavor, bathing and basting in it. Especially once that butter goes in the pan. The oven just slows down the process and cooks the steak more evenly from all sides. Id put this steak against any broiler or grilled recipe any day of the week and feel confident that this method would be preferred in any taste challenge. It's, shockingly, that good! 😎
Your rib eye is delicious looking. Makes me want to eat one right now. I would like a salad and a baked potato. On the side. Makes me want to slap myself. Thank you for sharing your video. Like your great idea putting teaspoons down. And laying a steak on top of them. You have a great evening. God bless you and your family.

What heat should I pan sear it on and for how many minutes on each side? The ribeye I bought is about the same thickness as yours

Hello! How many minutes on each side?
A steak this size, 2 minutes for medium rare.
Poor man, I thought for a second you had stoled my recipe. I been cooking mine like this since my mother showed me....

Yep, I stole it. You're the only ones in the entire world that cook their steaks this way and luckily the internet led me right to you! lol😂

Can I Use Regular Salt If I Dont Have The Other Kind?
Yes but a bit more sparingly. Kosher is great for meat. Table salt has iodine.

The fat & meat look very detached, was this a dry aged steak because there looks like prework of some sort of tenderization step.
Nope. Room temperature often separates the connecting tissue.

If you cook the fat cap first, there should be enough fat to do away with the olive oil. Beef fat has a higher smoke point than olive oil.
Thin sliced n fried ribeye makes the best steak n cheese sub.
Agreed. I've got some in the fridge now but for fajita's, instead!
