He had the most heartbreaking fate of all the characters. We're used to the writers giving every character a fate they deserve. What makes it so sad is that Howard didn't deserve his. RIP Howard Hamlin 💔
its the way they built him up, letting you know hes human and has flaws but wants to be a better man. ANd we saw two people try to drag him down, and when they finally won he came and congratulated them, cause thats who he was, and it got him killed. Very sad.
Another great tribute to one of the best BCS characters. I'm still so shook about what happened to Howard. He didn't deserve to go out the way he did. Patrick Fabian did an amazing job with the character.
My gm in kfc was exactly like hamlin, extremely professional, sacrificing everything for career, at the expense of colleague reputation, but what we fail to see in these people is the human inside. Howard imo is the best and most well written character of the show and Patrick Fabian did a phenomenal job.
These stories gives us the opportunity to note that, sometimes, nobody in the real world receive necessarily by destiny or by the gods the good or the bad related to your efforts or acts, in this case, Jimmy and Kim simply learned the bad way about the real consequences of their acts and relationships (If they really aren't some kind of psycho/sociopath...BCS give us a lot of clues in that way ). Nobody in the series is a true saint, like real world, but some are true sociopaths, like..... Howard maybe took some bad decisions, but nothing that a socialized human can associate with such a fate, this time, the truly bad decision for Howard was simply wrong time, wrong place, wrong people.
I can imagine how deflated Howard felt after the effort he put into that latte for his wife, to see her just dunk it into a thermos, and leave the mess as is. What a pig to live with! And thereon, his day stunk more and more. A wreck of a home life. A wreck to his career... and that's it. Not a friend in the world. And thanks to Gus and his paranoia, the men watching over Kim and Jimmy were not around to potentially stop Lalo. *sigh*
Only scene with Saul I rewatch these days is Jesse Pinkman kicking his ass in his office, I watched that after S6 E7 thinking yeah Jesse kick his ass that's for Howard!
@@jessefinch4071 now i linda hate Jimmy for what they did to Howard (he was My favorite character), but somehow i always feel Bad when Jesse beats Jimmy.
Howard was such a great character. How he is portrayed in the early seasons is a total misdirection from his conclusion. A+ acting, writing, and directing. We will miss you Patrick Fabian
Howard was a professional that had immense drive and passion for his line of work. Others mistook this as him being arrogant and snobby but really this man had no ill intentions whatsoever.
What an amazing tribute to Howard. One of the most purely decent characters in the Breaking Bad universe. His one true fault was being too loyal to Chuck for his own good. If he had stood up to him earlier than he did, it would have spared him so much trouble in the future.
Eh. I think Jimmy/Saul is supposed to be fatally flawed. Even if Howard got on Jimmy’s good side earlier, Jimmy would have found a way to ruin it for himself and still make Howard collateral damage. No matter how kind, patient, or forgiving he was, Howard was the man Jimmy couldn’t be and Jimmy’s refusal to accept that truth poisoned their relationship. It’s very much a Greek tragedy in that aspect.
@@dngn4774 i would have agreed with you but it seems this was Kim's fault more because she was ruthless about this scheme from the inception. Even Jimmy seemed hesitant; he had some bad conscience along the way of the scheme, if only because of his whole involvement with the cartel and his dealings with Lalo. Howard no longer seemed to be a worthy nemesis or he just was no longer interested in taking Howard down. You could see his genuine regret when he and Kim were confronted. No, this was Kim. She/they did get off on it. And now the price they have to pay with their regret and guilt...
The death of Howard Hamlin has affected me like no other character's death has before. Even after all this time I still think about him, his amazing character arc, what kind of person he was and how he always tried his best to better himself and right his wrongs with others. The Breaking Bad series has been an amazing ride and character's like Howard and Nacho will forever change the way we see the events that happen. RIP 🙏🏽 Namast3
The most beautiful character. Its amazing how at start I hated him so much, but as the episodes went by, he's the only guy who tried to do the right thing.
Howard wasn't perfect, he had flaws. Him putting Kim down in doc review twice, going along with Chuck's feud right up until the end, being condescending, and some other stuff. However, after he unfairly took the blame for Chuck's death, he changed. Howard did everyone should do, he went to therapy, he faced his demons, changed his behavior and tried to make honest amends for the problems he caused. He became a better person and showed what positive change looks like. Because of this however, he became the target for the vindictive Jimmy and Kim who let their negative thoughts and grudges fester. Their sick plan literally killed someone who only wanted to help them.
It's exactly Jimmy's mantra, people don't see or care about change, in Kim's and Jimmy's eyes he was still their asshole boss, instead of an honest genuent guy who just wants to do good, just how jimmy hated always being treated as slipping Jimmy, him and kim treated Howard the exact same way
His only flaw is that he listened to Chuck. He respected him way too much and couldn't see that he didn't have people's well being in mind. It caused a lot of people to suffer unfortunately and led to misplaced moral accusations that ruined Howard's life.
The death of Howard made me reflex on the cruelty of the world. A man who wasn't in any type of criminal activity, ended up death and buried along his killer because of soulless pricks and being at the wrong time and place by these guys. He was a true nice guy, in a world where criminals are the heroes, Howard had to be punished.
This show did a great job making us sympathize with Jimmy and Kim and then flipping the script making them the villains. Howard was a bit of a prick at first but nothing he did deserved the fate he got.
Or we just saw things through unreliable narrator aka Jimmy who thought it was Howard who didn't want him in HHM. To me Howard is the 2nd most moral character in Breaking Bad universe after Walter Junior, and he is kid so it's hard to compare. The wizards behind this show managed to make me care so much about Howard that it's scary.
@@juzujuzu4555 he knew Howard was just obeying chuck but now that Chuck's dead Jimmy wanted to put all his anger on Howard. Which ended up with a bullet in the poor guy's brain
@@Zanoladab Jimmy didn't want this. I suspect he wouldn't have ever wanted this, but especially since Bagman & Bad Choice Road episodes he certainly didn't want this. Jimmy was trying to leave Kim. But Kim didn't want that, and managed to get Jimmy back. You should check the episodes again. Really the only reason they are doing this is because Kim wanted the money. And because Jimmy is kind of like Kim's dog trying to make her happy. They reiterated this in the premier of season 6. Jimmy was not interested, but Kim again cleverly manipulated Jimmy in a way that Jimmy didn't even realize he was manipulated. And Kim has been doing it throughout the series. Not trying to say Jimmy is not guilty or anything like that, but this is certainly more on Kim's shoulders than Jimmy's.
If you told me that at the beginning of Better Call Saul, someone would have made an earnest fanvid about him, I would have thought you were nuts. Yet here we are, the most shocking death in the Breaking Bad universe (yes, I'm going there...) to a character who, while never the main focus, had a way of slowly winning you over as it's gradually revealed there's more to him than we first think. It turned out he always liked Jimmy, and regretted passing him over in favor of Chuck. He then finally, to deal with Chuck's unreliability, forced him out with money out of his own pocket. He then has to deal with the guilt of thinking he caused Chuck's suicide, and somehow actually does get beyond that hardship. And when Jimmy makes an impassioned plea at the scholarship committee for "The Shoplifter", he reveals himself to be the only one who actually took his words to heart, and wanted to do right by giving Jimmy the job he passed over in the first place. Tragically, that personal growth ultimately did him in, because if he kept his distance from Jimmy, odds are he never would have triggered Jimmy's deep resentment for his brother which led to the feud that ultimately cost him his life. Thankfully, he gets one more speech to put everything in context, and while his death was shocking, he goes out as complete a person as he could. Anyway... this is all to say that yes... this fanvid was definitely warranted, and well done on it!
Patrick Fabian was insanely important for this show. Since the first episode he was important, we started hating him and blaming him. But that changed quite quickly. I didn't like the Howard scheme plot, but I knew to trust the crew behind this show. And they sure delivered. I have been loving this show forever now, the best show on TV. But I never imagined how much I actually loved Howard. And a lot of that has to come from Patrick himself.
Who knew, back in season 1, that we would be making touching tribute videos to the random douchebag lawyer that hates Jimmy for no reason. Sleep well, sweet prince, you were too beautiful for this world.
A touching tribute. Howard never deserved the abuse, the cruelty given to him from Jimmy and Kim. He was a decent man, perhaps a heroic figure of sorts, but the Vince Gilligan/Breaking Bad Universe is an anti-heroes world
They did an epic job of making Howard seem like such a stock villain back during Season 1, where something about his looks and voice seem so insincere and put on, and you can't wait for Jimmy to set up some grand downfall. Rewatching the show knowing he's about as solid as a lawyer can be makes me feel guilty for judging him, and his downfall was the most I had rooted _against_ Jimmy. It was cruel enough... And then he gets unfairly, unjustly murdered as a side effect of Kim and Jimmy's other antics, making rewatches even more melancholic.
S6 ep 7 and 8 were both the most heart breaking episodes in the entire Breaking Bad universe. I never thought I'd shed a tear for a lawyer, but Howard was good, kind, smart, giving, just wonderful human being. And the worst part was the way he was disposed of. Just absolutely devastated me.
Honestly RIP Howard. Sad to see his fate and his legacy and his body just being disrespected by everyone. Love for Howard. An amazing character through and through. Namast3 🙏🏽
I always admired the way in which Howard loved and respected Chuck, even after his death, he continued to speak well of him, even missing him, he could be considered more than a friend, a brother... More than Jimmy
0:25 just wrecks me. This is pretty far into the show at this point, Howard has been screwed over so many times by the McGill family and yet he still is extending that olive branch to Jimmy. It’s just who he is. Another fantastic video Heather!
Howard could've easily been written as the villain for the whole series. Handsome, rich, douchie lawyer. That's what he seemed like in the first season. Turns out that's not what he was at all and the show did a good job at making him one of the most likable characters in this series. He has his goofie/awkward quirks but he was unexpectedly one of the best developed characters in this show. Sucks that he will be viewed as that type of personality for the rest of his name's existence just to protect Saul and Kim from prison. These writers did a great job developing all the characters on the show. Seems like everyone gets a good amount of time in the spotlight despite the fact they could easily just focus on Saul and ignore the arc for others. Hell even Nacho's father who barely gets any screen time makes an impact every time he's there even if it's brief. Great writers. Hope this writing team sticks together for future projects whatever they may be lol
Heather you beat me to it, and I'm not even mad about it. This absolutely fantastic and my absolute favourite so far from you. I'm going to be replaying this a lot. That glass klink at 2:10 and the "are you sure you're okay" that followed was absolutely perfect. I love this. Completely. One cannot do better for Howard.
God, thank you so much, Matthew! ❤️ This made me smile. I really would love to see your Howard video. Please, still make it! I know just how amazing it’ll be.
What hurts me the most about the death of this character is that he was not in a "game" like Ignacio, Saul or even Kim, which made his death the most tragic in the entire series ... so far
I will forever hate Jimmy and Kim for what they did to Howard. Howard has been a favorite of mine since the beginning especially after it was revealed he was used as Chuck's scapegoat. He's not perfect and he's owned his mistakes. Deep down though, Howard was a good man with a good heart and he didn't deserve such cruelty
It wasn’t just his death that made him tragic, he was a good man in a bad world, and he suffered because of it. After Chuck’s death he wanted to reconcile with Jimmy, and in return he got the worst abuse a human could endure. From that point on Jimmy became Saul and he was, in a way, irredeemable. Until he faced his true nature in the finale. Howard Hamlin was destroyed because of another man’s inability to change, and his fate is to be buried right next to the devil incarnate. It’s heartbreaking.
Didn't expect to start wholeheartedly tearing up at a BCS character tribute, but goddamn. Howard was one of the most honorable characters on this program, and his death was both tragic and impactful to such a degree. Of all the deaths in this, none have left me as shocked as his. Wonderful tribute to a wonderful character.
My theory is that jimmy just projected his hate towards himself, on Howard. He just couldn’t deal with the fact that he was responsible for his brothers death so he took the first person that had any form of guilt in this situation and starting hating them/ruining their life.
85th time rewatching and I ain’t stopping there. So goddamn good ❤️ This Howard edit will not be beaten, ain’t no one topping this. This is THE Howard edit. Paced perfectly. man this was over a week ago and I am still hurting, why tf? dude isnt even real and Patrick Fabian is like, chilling at home. but damn, Howard's passing really hit me. could it be maybe because it is a grim reminder that good people get fucked over like that everyday? he didnt deserve any of what he got. Cliff has got to catch Jimmy and Kim.
They made us like him, hate him, then like him again, then we had pity for him and all while that was happening, they made us like and hate an other character that ended up killing this 10/10 character. Impressive writing.
honestly believe howard had the best of intentions and was genuinely trying to be a better person. absolutely devastating to see him go out this way. amazing edit as always! a beautiful tribute to an amazing character who wasn’t what he seemed, played by a masterful actor who could show the subtleties of people.
Damn this got me tearing up. I saw E7 and felt an abject sadness to see him go so suddenly, but it was this video that really took me back through the character of Howard Hamlin. A pure soul that got entangled in the wrong things, for no fault of his own. Will miss him deeply.
And his body is at the bottom of a meth lab, with his murderer. His name stays tainted even after death, his wife and family will never get closure. Man, his life was tragic. Mostly because of Jimmy.
In the show, most characters have notable flaws, even when their intentions are good. Howard's main flaw is his excessive trust in people. He consistently sees the best in others and places his trust in them, regardless of whether he agrees with their actions. That's what separates him from the rest of the antagonists and even protagonists of BB & BCS who's main flaws are ego, greed, revenge, etc... He's also one of the only recurring characters in the entire universe (next to Chuck, Walt Jr., Marie) who never steps into "the game". Which makes his death at the hands of someone in "the game" so much sadder.
I only just watched this episode. I decided to wait a couple of weeks as I thought there would be more episodes to watch but Netflix is doing their new idea of splitting the final seasons to add a new cliffhanger and I managed to keep this heartbreaking information about Howard's death a secret. Honestly, after watching this episode I feel a bit lost. I have never felt this way about a fictional charcter in my life. The shit he has dealt with in his personal life, having tried to mentor Kim, extend an olive branch to Jimmy on several occasions to try to make up for not giving him a job at HHM. And then getting humiliated at the Sandpiper meeting, going to not grill Jimmy and Kim but to just understand why they have put him through this only to get taken away so abruptly hit me like a freight train. RIP Hamlindigo Blue

@@frogc. They were both "in the game". Howard was not. Mike's expression as he buried Howard with his murderer said it all.
I don’t think the death of a tv character has ever hit me as hard as Howard Hamlin. Been on my mind here and there, days after. Very strange 😟
I’m still thinking about him nearly 2 weeks later.
its the way they built him up, letting you know hes human and has flaws but wants to be a better man. ANd we saw two people try to drag him down, and when they finally won he came and congratulated them, cause thats who he was, and it got him killed. Very sad.
he wasnt perfect, he was flawed but he tryed his best.
@@kingcrustytut7544 true. They did a great job building him up.
Hanks death was way more brutal
Beautiful video. I still haven't recovered from E7. Undeniably the purest and the most tragic character in the entire show😔
I can imagine how deflated Howard felt after the effort he put into that latte for his wife, to see her just dunk it into a thermos, and leave the mess as is.
Never would have expected to see a Howard tribute lmao.
same, this is so sad ngl
yeah back in s1
Same here and a good one that makes him seem like a saint
Amazing tribute. Howard was never my favorite character but that didn't stop him from being a great character.
Damn Patrick Fabian really was made for the role of Howard. I will miss seeing him
Saul Goodman !!
Saul was soulless, and the actual “Good man” in this show was Howard Hamlin
bro its not saul goodman because hes a good man its because " its all good man " - saul good man
Saul was saulless
Soulles Badman
Patrick Fabian and Bob watched this, both shared this on their twitter!
Maybe he felt he owed him, because as Shuck said, Howard and his father had reached their status thanks to him
@@dngn4774 i would have agreed with you but it seems this was Kim's fault more because she was ruthless about this scheme from the inception.
Well, This is a lot sadder now after episode 8
The death of Howard Hamlin has affected me like no other character's death has before. Even after all this time I still think about him, his amazing character arc, what kind of person he was and how he always tried his best to better himself and right his wrongs with others. The Breaking Bad series has been an amazing ride and character's like Howard and Nacho will forever change the way we see the events that happen. RIP 🙏🏽 Namast3
Man, his death was so sad. I remember the coffee he mad to his wife, he was really trying
It's exactly Jimmy's mantra, people don't see or care about change, in Kim's and Jimmy's eyes he was still their asshole boss, instead of an honest genuent guy who just wants to do good, just how jimmy hated always being treated as slipping Jimmy, him and kim treated Howard the exact same way
well said
His only flaw is that he listened to Chuck.
Today’s world is disgusting in so many ways. Lying is the new morality ; depression the new reward for all the good souls.
@@tiebrkr4231 this was set somewhere in 2003 lmao
@@Zanoladab Jimmy didnt want this, Kim did.
@@juzujuzu4555 he did want this.. the only reason he was hesitant at first because it was unusual seeing Kim wanting the same thing as him especially
One of the saddest ending that of a character that I knew
Such a Sad ending for a great written Character
Patrick Fabian was insanely important for this show. Since the first episode he was important, we started hating him and blaming him. But that changed quite quickly. I didn't like the Howard scheme plot, but I knew to trust the crew behind this show. And they sure delivered. I have been loving this show forever now, the best show on TV. But I never imagined how much I actually loved Howard. And a lot of that has to come from Patrick himself.
Couldnt agree morr
"I uh, think I'm in the middle of something. Uh, uh there's really no need to-"
- The last words of Howard Hamlin.
Who knew, back in season 1, that we would be making touching tribute videos to the random douchebag lawyer that hates Jimmy for no reason. Sleep well, sweet prince, you were too beautiful for this world.
Life is unfair. Howard is a genuine guy with pure heart, but sometimes you know, life is unfair no matter how hard you work and live life.
His fate hurt me the most. 💙💙💙
Goodbye, Howard. We will always remember you for trying.
A touching tribute. Howard never deserved the abuse, the cruelty given to him from Jimmy and Kim. He was a decent man, perhaps a heroic figure of sorts, but the Vince Gilligan/Breaking Bad Universe is an anti-heroes world
A hero stuck in an anti heroes world.
I'm gonna miss Howard. A well-written and well-played character. Rest In Peace Howard Hamlin
This Howard Hamlin Tribute is so freaking Beautiful!!! Keep up the amazing works of art!!!
One of the best videos I've ever seen
S6 ep 7 and 8 were both the most heart breaking episodes in the entire Breaking Bad universe. I never thought I'd shed a tear for a lawyer, but Howard was good, kind, smart, giving, just wonderful human being. And the worst part was the way he was disposed of. Just absolutely devastated me.
im crying, love howard
Its Jimmy and Kim who's lost. Howard knew his path, it wasnt always right, but its always with the best intentions. RIP Howard :(
Honestly RIP Howard.
Howard Hamlin, you have my whole heart
Someone needs to get this to Patrick Fabian!
A great tribute, very inspiring, about a character who had flaws but repeatedly tried to move forward and be fair to others. We'll miss you Howard.
0:25 just wrecks me. This is pretty far into the show at this point, Howard has been screwed over so many times by the McGill family and yet he still is extending that olive branch to Jimmy. It’s just who he is.
Another fantastic video Heather!
What episode was this?
@@gozu4646 S5 E4. Howard has lunch with Jimmy to try to talk him out of his “Saul Goodman” persona and instead work at HHM under his family name.
That was incredible, you captured the essence of him. Very impressed
The thing gets me is not only did he lose his life for nothing but he was buried with and will spend eternity with the man who killed him.
Amazed that you did a tribute to this character and that it turned out this good. Great job!
Thank you! I’m happy you enjoyed it. :)
Same feelings. Love this tribute and love the show even more.
Well….the images of Howard’s body were absolutely fukkin haunting
Heather you beat me to it, and I'm not even mad about it.
This absolutely fantastic and my absolute favourite so far from you. I'm going to be replaying this a lot.
That glass klink at 2:10 and the "are you sure you're okay" that followed was absolutely perfect.
I love this. Completely. One cannot do better for Howard.
God, thank you so much, Matthew! ❤️ This made me smile. I really would love to see your Howard video. Please, still make it! I know just how amazing it’ll be.
Almost a year on, and I still can't get over how good this is.
Fantastic tribute! Hurt to see him go. He really grew on me over the course of the show.
Before season 5 I didn't care about Howard, but now he is one of my favorite characters of the breaking bad universe he enters in my top three
What hurts me the most about the death of this character is that he was not in a "game" like Ignacio, Saul or even Kim, which made his death the most tragic in the entire series ... so far
Patrick Fabian shared this on his Twitter! Congratulations
Rest In Peace Howard.
What a gem of a character.. Broke my heart of stone
This fits him so well. A truly real and genuine character. I actually started BCS not liking him but now he’s my favourite character
There is spirit of a honset lawyer inside meth lab
For someone to edit this far up bien Hecho, respect you know.
Went from hating him to him being one of my favorite characters
My theory is that jimmy just projected his hate towards himself, on Howard. He just couldn’t deal with the fact that he was responsible for his brothers death so he took the first person that had any form of guilt in this situation and starting hating them/ruining their life.
Great theory, this could be canon
85th time rewatching and I ain’t stopping there. So goddamn good ❤️ This Howard edit will not be beaten, ain’t no one topping this. This is THE Howard edit. Paced perfectly. And the fact it was done in 3 days with this amount of greatness just goes to show how fuckin great you are 👏 be proud of this.
I will accept your challenge and now make my own Howard Hamlin edit that will top this one. I must now begin steadfast work in my video editor! With haste!
Thanks a bunch, Jack!! That means a lot. I’m really glad you enjoyed this. ☺️❤️
Howard was really a victim of chucks hate but he didn’t deserve to get killed
I just love how Howard was always the character that felt so human, and so far removed from the game. His ending hurts, but his story was very well written
man this was over a week ago and I am still hurting, why tf? dude isnt even real and Patrick Fabian is like, chilling at home. but damn, Howard's passing really hit me. could it be maybe because it is a grim reminder that good people get fucked over like that everyday? he didnt deserve any of what he got. Cliff has got to catch Jimmy and Kim.
With you man, I'm bit late with it all but I'm here readin comments cause Howard's end has messed me up a little.
This hurt in the best way. Thank you for making this
They made us like him, hate him, then like him again, then we had pity for him and all while that was happening, they made us like and hate an other character that ended up killing this 10/10 character.
Impressive writing.
Most tragic character in the entire Breaking Bad universe, and that’s actually saying something.
honestly believe howard had the best of intentions and was genuinely trying to be a better person. absolutely devastating to see him go out this way. amazing edit as always! a beautiful tribute to an amazing character who wasn’t what he seemed, played by a masterful actor who could show the subtleties of people.
Just a very good and professional man, stuck at a very wrong place and a very wrong point of time.
Damn this got me tearing up. I saw E7 and felt an abject sadness to see him go so suddenly, but it was this video that really took me back through the character of Howard Hamlin. A pure soul that got entangled in the wrong things, for no fault of his own. Will miss him deeply.
howardd honestly became one of my favorite characters after chuck died
One of the best written character of the BB universe, you realize that even more once he's dead ;(
Such a good edit, really made me feel sorry for him, what a great chracter!
And his body is at the bottom of a meth lab, with his murderer. His name stays tainted even after death, his wife and family will never get closure. Man, his life was tragic. Mostly because of Jimmy.
I love this video 🥲
"But i will land on my feet, i will be ok"
I’ve been watching this edit everyday since it was uploaded. Thank you. Beautiful work!
Thank you for this edit ❤️.
I always knew he was a good guy by just looking at him.
"i will be ok, ill land on my feet."
2 mins later dies and lands on his face
RIP Hamlindigo Blue
howard's wife's attitude towards him was a great detail to how actually desperate he is even though he looks great all the time
still the best HH edit on the app. uncontested.
There’s not many characters in BB that truly played by the book and Howard payed for it most
poor guy, that episode was insane
