Music at the Mansion: TAPS (Traditional Arts Programs for Students)

Governor Roy Cooper and First Lady Kristin Cooper hosted an event at the Executive Mansion in downtown Raleigh on Thursday, September 28th, dedicated to arts education and the resounding success of the TAPS program (Traditional Arts Programs for Students).
This event featured a performance by Newfound Gap, a group of siblings who benefited from TAPS programs in Buncombe and Haywood Counties, along with Laura Boosinger, TAPS teacher, and Executive Director of the Madison County Arts Council.
First Lady Kristin Cooper initiated "Music at the Mansion," a video concert series that highlighted North Carolina's musical diversity, thanks to support from the North Carolina Arts Foundation.
The TAPS program funds after-school initiatives connecting students with traditional artists, enriching young lives and fostering cultural appreciation in community organizations, including arts centers and schools.
The September 28th event celebrated the successful convergence of music, arts education, and cultural heritage, underscoring North Carolina's commitment to nurturing young artists and preserving its cultural traditions.
