Thanks Steve a nice and succinct survey. There remains the notion that the Triplex was a failed road locomotive, but the reality was that their upfront use was limited to a handful of tonnage tests. They were always intended as pusher locomotives.
Thanks for this series of videos. I realize that you had to be brief in your descriptions, but engines like the 2-10-10-2's needed a bit mor time. (my opinion) I used to have the book about the Virginian rail road. The full story about the 2-10-10-2's is quite interesting. Now how about the 3ft gauge engines. Is that next? ;-)
Hi robertweldon. I couldn't agree more!! Every locomotive covered in this series is deserving of its own video. At some point I will cover the 3ft gauge locomotives. Stay tuned and thanks for the comment!!
Hi richardjayroe. In terms of tractive effort the triplex wins. But the undersized and low pressure boiler would give the triplex a horsepower output well below the 6900 hp of the Big Boy. Thanks for watching!!
At some point I want to do a series on the C&O H Class articulateds. In the mean time, I have some viewer requests and other topics I want to cover. Thanks for watching!!
Wat een prachtige en vooral bijzonder goed geïnformeerde serie. Chapeau.

I agree. That seemed to be the case with the Virginian, but the Erie seems to have fallen for Baldwins sales pitch. Thanks for the comment!

Regardless of the predictions on how powerful the triplex was it was more powerful than the big boy
Power and rated tractive effort are different things though.

@americansteamlegacy-yh9dr true unless under 10 miles an hour (15 according to the video). Keep in mind that's all it did anyways
What's the next series going to be?

*sad 2-12-4 or 4-12-2 noises*
😂 up 9000 would like a word lol
Hi bananatrain. The UP 9000 definitely deserves its own video. Stay tuned!! Thanks for watching!!
