  • To mark LGBTQ+ History Month the Bicycle Adventure Club will head to Bromsgrove to follow the Housman Trail to learn about the poet A.E. Housman and his siblings Laurence and Clemence.
Housman was born in Bromsgrove in 1859 and best known for his collection of poems titled: "A Shropshire Lad" but did you know most of his work was inspired by and echoes his hopeless & unrequited love for his college room mate Moses Jackson.
    "Because I liked you better
Than suits a man to say,
It irked you, and I promised
    To throw the thought away."
Throughout his life Housman consistently suppressed all public indications of his sexuality....He died in 1936.
    From Stonewall...
2023. This year marks 20 years since Section 28, the law that banned “promotion of homosexuality” in the UK, was repealed. It was an attack on LGBTQ+ visibility, and together we resisted. And we’ve made progress in leaps and bounds since. But with parts of our community still under attack, we must remember why we can’t go back, and come together to keep moving forward.
This LGBT+ History Month, let’s learn from our past and keep standing in solidarity to make history for our communities!

Nice to learn about the charaters that have enriched our culture and the strange narrative that obscures them from us. I must confess I was tempted to write a poem to Helens Lemond bicycle alas it would be unrequited love I would venture

    *swoons*
    😂
Despite the existence of Keir Starmer, I really hope anyone that doesn't own a grouse moor or a multinational has the sense to unite behind Labour at the next election.
