When my mother was alive, she was such an inspiration to me...watching me and being with me through all my surgeries and trials. She gave me this book titled, "This too shall pass" Now that she is gone from my life I continue to remember her comforting words as I have been through so many more trials. My heart is with you sweet Vanessa. You will make it through these trials and soon this too will pass. You are so loved 💕💕💕🐾🐾💋💗😘

If you ever have signs of an infection, or food poisoning or you feel sick your first thought needs to be that port. Ports can get infected and any symptoms of unwellness need medical attention asap.
You can beat this. ❤️ You have many people caring for you and we are with you in spirit to help you get through this.

I had a ileostomy bag but I don’t remember what worked because I had it less than a year. I tried different ones. There is a “ Stoma City” group on Facebook (helped me so much). You have to first join “ColonTown and then they will put you in the “sub groups”. They have a great chemo group too. Prayers for you my beautiful CRC Warrior sister. I continue to pray for you and your family.💐💐💙💙

I used Hollister two piece. I put a stoma ring around my stoma before applying the two-piece. It worked fine most of the time. I occasionally had leaks at night and irritation on the skin around my stoma, but nothing too bad. So I did not bother to try other brands. A stoma guard might help if your car seatbelt keeps rubbing your stoma. I had my stoma reversed this March, seven months after the surgery😀. So things will get better. Hang in there! You are doing great!

I had a temporary ostomy and I liked the two piece system the best. Also I liked the convetec that fits around your stoma so you don’t have to cut it. It just molds around your stoma. Also expect leaks and inconsistency for a month or so. In my experience my body got used to it after a month or so. I only had one nurse that told me how difficult the beginning is so I think it helps to know. Looks like your doing great!

I find 2 piece easy for getting the baseplate on and I can see atoms and make sure she is sealed in and secure before putting the bag on. I don't have leaks at all and just put a fresh bag on everyday and change baseplate every few days. Bags have the best material too xx

My mom struggled for months to find the right ostamy unit, alot of leaks along the way. It was super rough. It Depends on your stoma and stomach, everyone is different. Is your stoma flush or does it stick out alot? If it doesn't stick out much, you need a Convex barrier. Also, get extenders to place around the edge of the skin barrier to keep it from leaking. It completely eliminated the leaking issue for my mom. Try Hollister New Image CeraPlus Skin Barrier #15303. It is convex. If you need a flat one, I'm sure there is a version that would work. She uses a closed end bag with it as she has an ostamy. For ilieostomy you might want to use a drainable bag. Hollister Adapt barrier extenders #79402. No lotions or moisturizers on the skin in that area or it won't stick. If u have more questions I'd be happy to help.

Do you use a barrier ring under your bag? That can sometimes help. Have you reached out to any companies, or are you just trying a few that the hospital gave you? I had a colostomy, not an ileostomy, but I had to try many bags before I found what worked. It also changed over time, as I developed an allergy. Some of the companies are really great and will ask you a lot of questions and send you the samples that they think would be best for you. My favorite company was Coloplast. Convatec also sent me samples. I 2nd the comment about watching Maggie's channel. I'll look up two other channels I found helpful and add the channel names. Good luck getting it all figured out. The chemo through the port doesn't hurt, but in my experience with the chemo after my surgery (folfox), is that after 4 times, it gets really hard because the side effectS hit very bad. Also I had to skip 1 chemo round because my bloodplates were to low. But luckely you also have to do 3 months and not 6 months like my first oncologist said to me, because that is really not bearable. I wish you as less as possible side effects from your chemo that you gonna start with now, if it gets too much, think about the last chemo round, because that will be the last difficult period in your journey, everything that will come after that is not so much of a big deal (in my case).

Tips for healing coming from a very sick person for over 16 years... Matcha green tea, apple cider vinegar, dry brushing for circulation, kombucha, aloe juice, turmeric, curry... Healing from the inside out. Btw, I live in Fresno. 🙂 Many many prayers to you. 💗🌷🙏
