New York, NY, June 1, 2015 - Tonight, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) paid tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards in collaboration with Swarovski at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. James Corden, of The Late Late Show on CBS, was the host for the evening. For the fourteenth
year in a row, the evening was generously underwritten by Swarovski.
The evening’s Womenswear Designer of the Year honors went to Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The
Row, presented by Amanda Seyfried.
The award for Menswear Designer of the Year was presented to Tom Ford by Joshua Jackson.
Tabitha Simmons took home the Accessory Designer of the Year Award, presented by Taraji P. Henson.
Pharrell Williams was presented the Fashion Icon award by Kanye West. Williams addressed his stylistic journey, crediting his early proclivity for do-it-yourself on Chuck Taylor sneaker as a key inspiration. "Freedom is whatever you want it to be," he said.
The 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards show program and red carpet coverage hosted by Kelly Osbourne is featured exclusively on www.cfda.com
"Fashion creates dreams and makes them happen," said CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg. "We are here tonight to celebrate fashion designers and their impact."
"Tonight, we honor talent in our industry at every level - the legendary, the established, and the emerging," said CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb.
"We are thrilled about our ongoing partnership with the CFDA which offers a great opportunity to support the American fashion community. The impact of winning an award on the career of an emerging designer is invaluable and in line with Swarovski's commitment to foster the next generation of talent," said Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board.
Gigi Hadid and Zachary Quinto presented the three Swarovski Awards, which honor and recognize emerging talent. The Swarovski Award for Womenswear was given to Rosie Assoulin.
The Swarovski Award for Menswear was presented to Shayne Oliver for Hood by Air.
The Swarovski Award for Accessory Design went to Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel for Mansur Gavriel.
Recipients in each category will receive generous financial support from the company as well as exposure to the company’s vast and innovative crystal products and applications for fashion.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Betsey Johnson by Kelly Osbourne for her enduring and creative influence on fashion.
The Founders Award in honor of Eleanor Lambert was presented to Millard “Mickey” Drexler, Chairman and CEO of J.Crew Group, Inc. by David Remnick of The New Yorker.
The Media Award which is given for excellence in journalism and was originally created in honor of Eugenia Sheppard, was presented to Kevin Systrom for Instagram by Kim Kardashian West.
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino were recognized with this year’s International Award, presented by Franca Sozzani of Vogue Italia and Valeria Golino.

These girls have worked their butts off since the day they were born. They literally built an empire for themselves. Everyone is critical of them because of their looks and their lack of acting, well I think their fashion is very impressive and who cares what people think what you look like when you are worth $300 and have a $1 billion enterprise? Yes I would have loved for them to continue the roll of Michelle Tanner on Fuller House, but they make triple the amount of money the entire cast makes so I did not get the shots they were throwing at them. But still, I hope they do come back just to relive Michelle Tanner, but if they don't, it's their choice and their life. Leave them alone.

Let's be honest though...would they have become so successful in fashion and entertainment had people not already known them from Full House? Probably not. They would have been seen simply as little kids making home movies, end of. The Full House thing and the twin thing bank rolled them to where they are now. Business is business and is there make a profit- but it is cringe worthy to see the awkwardness of when they thank everyone but their customers until Mary Kate chimes in at the end.
@@valeriec7072 I think it's obvious that they wouldn't have, but I also feel like it's irrelevant, they still worked their butts off and so happened they decided to change careers. They never stopped working since they were babies. I understand why they are how they are in present times, imagine all the stuff they dealt with living that lifestyle since they were babies, they are not your average normal people and I don't blame them for how that altered their personalities as adults.
@@CDGalore That's just it though- you can't tell if they are actually happy or if they actually wanted the life that they did- it's been said they continued doing what they did as kids because they wanted to. But who knows. Either way they kind of saying the words of how much they enjoy their business- but it kind of looks like no amount of money or success is actually making them happy deep down. Or maybe it is just a style thing they just always seem so depressed even if they have ditched that life that was not for them anymore. Who knows.
I believe I said they looked depressed... Which is not being cruel, it is a fact. It was not about how they look. Fgs if I had a friend who looked depressed all the time I would say something and ask what was up. That was actually an observation of how they might feel and suddenly am a hater?!I did not say they hadn't worked hard, have I? All I pointed out was their business would not have likely become as known had their names not been known due to the show. That's just kind of obvious. The Ashley and Mary Kate thing was recognised and people recognised them and it was built up on that basis because they were already known! I did not mention their acting skills once. I just said might have been nice for them to acknowledge it. I just said an acknowledgement of fuller house or an appearance Might have been nice from them. What a joke if you can't give an opinion or view without being attacked and called names.

The backlash they get is so dumb. They had enough "fun" to last them a life time- they're getting joy out of doing what they love now and that is fashion. Just because they're not acting like peppy teenagers anymore doesn't mean they're not happy.
I think they look great and their work is extremely impressive. Very talented, hard working young ladies. They should be commended instead of constantly criticized for not being your definition of beautiful.
Their work is beautiful! I've been singing their praises for a while, and I still get surprised reactions from people. I think what's really weird is the public obsession with these frozen-in-time personas that they represent. When in reality we are talking about two people who experience every second of every day just like anyone else. And it seems they've used those seconds well. I for one find them very inspiring (obviously, haha).
I agree and I do feel sorry for them to an extent for what they have had to go through but I'm honestly so disappointed that they never show any effort in being part of a reunion or fuller house for example with the people who basically created them. If it wasn't for full house they wouldn't be where they are now as millionaires.. It kinda upsets me that they always take a back seat from full house. I mean this is the first come back since the show ended and the stars of the show won't even be in it :/

grew up with them, and loved their style evolution. like them, my style has changed completely too as i became older. i am so full of admiration for their hard work and passion, they are truly style icons who rose to fame through being smart businesswomen! rooting for them all the way!

Wow! This is just awesome. Their work really stands out here (you should check out their portfolio, so to speak), so it's no surprise that they took home the honor. Such clean lines and wonderful contrast. I love, love love it and am very impressed by their dedication and hard work.
As for all the comments on how they look: to me they look real, and beautiful, but who cares. They are hard workers and it's what they've accomplished should inspire people.

I love these two and I love that they're into clothing design like me, but they exist in a particular corner of the fashion world that I never understood. I would love to go into one of their retailers and see for myself exactly WHY a plain white tshirt is $400 and a simple black dress is $7000, but no makeover in the world could prevent me from being evil-eyed right out of the store on sight by the sales people... They can SMELL poverty! Lol

Branding and marketing for sure, and it does help that usually higher brands are better quality than what you would find at poverty level. The stitching is usally done better and more secure, the fabrics are usually better quality or a blend of multiples and they make special buttons with their logo in it. and usually better cut to fit how it's supposed to look at it's best. Some brands are a rip off and they really arent any better than you would find at H&M, but many brands have their cheapies that are over priced, that's just pure branding that rich people are willing to spend that are snobs.lol. But for their nicer stuff that has more thought put into, that is why it is easier to jack up the price along with branding and marketing. And sad to say, I work at a thrift store and price clothing, and that is what I have learned and noticed. :P

I feel like if they were to put more effort into their makeup, they wouldnt look as bad. Not that they look that bad here, but if they were wearing makeup that was more flattering and complimentary to the outfits, they would shine. They really dont look all that bad once you see them here, they just dont present themselves that well. at least dont use the best techniques to make themselves look at best. Kind of just looks half assed. Like they got out of bed and threw on clothes with yesterdays makeup on for everyday + special events like this. lazy. but if it's what makes them happy. But They could look so much better if they tried a little more hard.
