What a daring choice of programme for a young virtuoso who has won the Cliburn with Rach 3. Yunchan Lim makes this technically less complicated music breathe with new life and gives an incredible depth to it. An exceptiional talent!

Bach personified into a being. Feels like a sincere spiritual seeker walking around somewhere out there. Doesn't lose a single moment of being present. Strongly meditative and lets the listener submerge deep inside oneself. Truly amazing considering he is still a teenager.

Thank you for this download. It shows Yunchan's brilliant adaptability and his broad knowledge of the piano repertoire. He has said his concert choices are made in discussion with his marvellous teacher, and I feel he has been well guided in these early days of his concert work. I have heard these items in two other recitals but they are all somewhat different, which demonstrates his liking of exploring the works he plays more and more and the works coming up sounding fresh..

This is the best musician I have heard who can't swing a note to save their life.
This eroica variation performance by Yunchan Lim is the best which he played so far, it is a bit complement performance today, so dynamic and deep, can’t be estimated. I have been listening too many Beethoven special pianists like Kempff, Gileles, Richter, Brendel, etc , But this performance by Yunchan Lim today is surpassing all other performances . It is the historical stage l assure.
Not true! This student Yunchan Lim played colorless cold dry piano sound Rach concerto no 3 in the Cliburn finals! Dimitri Bashkirov her teacher Anastasia Virsaladze teach saying to Bashkirov the most important lesson is the Love of beautiful colorful piano sound! More colorful beautiful piano sound than student Yunchan Lim=Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Artur Rubinstein Vladimir Ashkenazy! This student Yunchan Lim should study hard next 6 years with a good teacher to get more colorful sound! Long way to go Student Yunchan Lim to be greatest like Sviatoslav Richter Solomon Cutner!
@@RaineriHakkarainen We heard very different performances of Rach 3. I heard a mature prodigy who actually out-styled Horowitz IN Horowitz's style. "Colorless, cold, and dry"? I heard warmth and real-time thoughtfulness, as though the virtuosity was a given and all he needed do was channel the music to suit how he felt it on the day. Special mention goes to the surprisingly tranquil "mezzopiano" mode he played the intricate accompaniment when the orchestra takes over the main theme for the first time in the 1st movement. That's a mature artistic decision to sit back just when the piano part gets harder, rather than rock out. Still, *to each their own!* and I certainly hope he gets even better.
Have you ever considered that the “cold” sound could be due to the Steinway he played at the Cliburn, as well as the recording/hall? So far in his solo recital videos I’ve heard much more color, warmth, and variety in his sound, likely due to better instruments, performance venues, and recording technology. I think you’re being unnecessarily harsh.
