- Only in San Francisco, I caught a punk accordion player performing and a couple of nuns clapping along. It's Renee De La Prade who plays for Culann's Hounds. She's performing on Jack Kerouac Alley in San Francisco in front of Vesuvio's Cafe.

This might be my favorite video on all of you tube! I've watched it a bunch! Between Renee falling off the box and not missing a beat (we excuse the one a bit later because of her awesome HOWL!), the hip nuns clapping and the guy throwing a bill in her bowl, everything about this vid is great! MIghty fine accordion shredding', mm hmm!
At the risk of being called a pedant, that is a Melodian, not an accordian. It plays different notes and chords on the squeeze and the draw; enabling that unique staccato sound so much loved by Cajuns, Morris Dancers and Celtic musicians, and apparently, Punks and Nuns. .
If the two treble rows are tuned a semitone apart (i.e.: B/C or C#/D), it's still an accordion, at least in Ireland and America. If they're tuned a fourth apart (D/G, C/F, etc), in the UK they'd call it a melodeon. (aka: "Morris Box").

In the US and most parts of the world it's called a "diatonic button accordion". In Ireland and England it's called a "melodeon". The portuguese call it a concertina.

Cooley's reel not heard it played like that. I love Cardina Accordions just like the one she is playing they are great button boxes.

Renee' de la Parde is really really a great artist I love her with Culann's Hounds I've seen them dozens of times around the Bay Area if you get a chance go see them you won't regret it I promise you that alot of Heart & Soul....

This is a D/D# melodion that has had the bass modded to give 8 bass notes and no chords. This gives you a sort of primitive "free Bassetti" .
