Thanks Jay. I also fished and blew out my foam years ago. We never have extreme cold winters in Africa, so never bother any further. Still enjoy my 98 986 with 140k miles tremendously. Bullet proof car. Pretty close to the best there is.

Another great video, thanks Jay. I have a 996 rainforest over beige, the spec on this 986 is incredible! love the tan combo looks awesome. I look forward to hearing what you do on the seats- have been contemplating the same options. I'm doing some interior refinishing myself (gear knob, e-brake handle) that have worn over 20+ years, and have found through forums and speaking with other 996 folks great success with "colorbond lpv refinisher" for trim bits and leather areas that have scratches or discoloration. Could be helpful on your 986 if you can find your natural tan, best of luck. Looking forward to the future videos!

Changing brake discs requires the use of a zxn (triple square) socket to remove calipers. Over here in the UK salted winter/spring roads mean there is a risk of the heads breaking off! Try the slightly tighten before lossening method any way as you have no idea when the discs were last changed if at all. Bleeding brakes don't foget to do inner and outer bleed screws. Again watch out if they're stiff to start. Found a socket rather than spanner worked well.
Biggest issue with suspension jobs is steel fixings in ally hubs and dissimmilar metal corrosion, oh and massive torque on hub nuts about 320ftlbs iirc. You'll need the geometry set up afterwards as well.
Love to see a 986 being saved.

Thanks a lot for staying with me. Why do you hate this method? No one knows and it hasn’t weakened the car at all! Moreover, it works!

@@JAYREAD coming through the frunk and you only have to cut the top of that little pivot point cap on top of the blend doors, then you can pull the doors right out... i've also got a 986 and plan to take care of my blend doors this way. But, keep going!! love the Boxster content!

Re the seat, how about fitting one of these ready cut leather set ? I see some as cheap as 350$, with good reviews. Would make for some good content too, if you don't mind being a public guinea pig for the rest of us :-)

Yes, Lseat make them. That’s under consideration. I’ve asked them for a swatch to compare the color. If I have to get them recolored then it adds to the expense and we may be right back up at the $2k region if they have to be fitted too.

Slip covers would put your project in a much lower bracket. I don’t think you have much choice.

I’m not sure I understand. You mean slip covers would be the worse or better solution? 😎

If you don’t rebuild the foam and suspension, a seat kit will look okay, nut will be terribly uncomfortable. Your bottom cushions are all broken down. Terrible on the low back with long drives.

Much agreed. Needs rebuilding or I might buy a better used seat on the driver’s side.
